Having sound knowledge regarding expression, storage and use of breast milk is fi rst step towards promoting practice of expressed breast milk, which in turn promotes exclusive breastfeeding. Primary concern in this is handling, storage, and warming of expressed breastmilk. So all breastfeeding mothers should be motivated to learn different techniques of expression, storage and use of expressed breastmilk. The settings chosen for present study were 18 villages of Dachnipora block of district Anantnag (J&K) with a sample size of 50 mothers of infants. This setting was selected as per feasibility & availability of study subjects. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The study revealed that 46 percent of subjects had inadequate knowledge level, 54 percent had moderate knowledge level’ and none of subjects had adequate knowledge level regarding expression, storage and use of expressed breast milk. A signifi cant association of knowledge level of mothers of infants was found with demographic variables, parity and previous experience with expression and storage at p≤0.05 level and no association was found with variables like age, educational status, nature of job and monthly family income. To conclude, mothers of infants had insignifi cant level of knowledge about expression, handling, storage and use of expressed breast milk. If they are provided and supported with adequate and appropriate information from the beginning of their motherhood, they will make exclusive breastfeeding a success","PeriodicalId":76706,"journal":{"name":"The Nursing journal of India","volume":"147 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86624960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted among 50 mothers and children attending IPD and OPD of Paediatric Department of Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikode; the samples were selected using purposive sampling technique. The results of the study revealed that that majority (70%) of mothers were having mild phubbing and 88 percent of the subjects exhibited closeness in the relationship with their child. It affects the quality of care and health outcome. Patient satisfaction is an alternate but an effective indicator to measure the success of nurses and health setting. Patient satisfaction is affected by various factors such as communication skill, interpersonal relationship, quality of care and behaviour of staff. Strategies like effective communication, transparency of health care-related information, empathetic hospital environment and prioritising quality outcome can be used for improving patient satisfaction. Meanwhile, nursing care is major component of healthcare services because nurse spends more time with patient in health care organisation. Therefore, measuring patient satisfaction with nursing care could be effective in improving quality of nursing services.","PeriodicalId":76706,"journal":{"name":"The Nursing journal of India","volume":"48 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87536778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this quasi-experimental (pre-test, post-test, control group design) study, a total of 60 mothers (30 each in experimental and control group) attending ante-natal clinic at district hospital, Faridabad were enrolled using simple random sampling (lottery method). A self-developed, pre-tested and validated tool based on knowledge and utilisation about JSSK scheme was used for data collection. Mean post-test knowledge scores of experimental group and control group were 22.4 and 12 respectively with a mean difference of 10.4. The obtained mean difference was found to be statistically signifi cant as evident from the ‘t’ value of 3.96 at 0.05 level of signifi cance. The mean post-test utilisation score of experimental group (23.57) was higher than the mean post-test utilisation scores of control group (20.6) with a mean difference of 2.97. The obtained mean difference was found to be statistically signifi cant as evident from the ‘t’ value of 3.96 at 0.05 level of signifi cance. Chi value computed between knowledge scores and utilisation scores of JSSK Scheme and selected demographic variables indicated that there was no signifi cant association. This shows that health education package was effective in enhancing the knowledge of participant mothers regarding JSSK health scheme so that they were able to utilise the scheme in a better way. There is a need of IEC activity to increase the knowledge of benefi ciaries to enhance the utilisation of JSSK health services.","PeriodicalId":76706,"journal":{"name":"The Nursing journal of India","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74563104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
