In fact, the improvement of the material conditions of human and social life is accompanied by a regression in moral conditions and an increase in crime. But Saudi-Arabia has established a system which has proved itself extremely efficient, both for the improvement of the moral condition of the community, and for the limitation of crime to a minimal level. A comparison of statistical data, in fact, shows that the level of criminality in Saudi-Arabia is lower than that of any other country in the world. This is due to the wisdom and farsightedness of King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, who, to reorganize the Saudi-Arabian people and establish his sovereignty, adopted the divine law of the Koran, the Sharia, as the only law applicable to control all individual and social relationships and to combat crime. By means of research conducted on the basis of statistical analyses and of interviews with experts chosen amongst the more elderly citizens, the Authors lend proof to their statements. In most cases new research has been bases on ill defined samples and on questionable control groups. Such studies have been eliminated from the present analysis. In approximately 80% of the studies examined in the present report significant differences have been found between delinquent and control groups of non-delinquents. However, a more careful analysis of the data indicates many differences within most of the main characteristics under examination. Such evolution, in relation with the influences of the social enviornment one was associated with, was associated with, was marked by an initial cohesion stage between members (of defensive significance), followed by a gradual research of a personal autonomy, in parallel with the acquisition of a reassuring and stabilized role. The utilization of a social space according to the conventional parameters used in the area (with particular concern towards syndical dynamics and rules), reached at the cost of self-exposure, has confirmed the reached maturity and the self balance in proposing themselves to the others as subjects active in their own resocialization, sharing the acquired social rights. Specific tropics under discussion have been: the goals of dention, alternatives to detention, sentencing and releasethe conditions of detention, the future of research in the field. The work, then, proceeds in the field of criminology and, more particularly, of the evolution of criminological currents which, without defining aims, we will name classical to tell them from the original criminology, of positivistic imprint, and from the new criminology of critical, radical or marxist inspiration, whose examination in entrusted to another research unit. The method followed was that of the historical research with reference to the selected period and with a constant relation, in text and notes, to the enunciations of the examined Authors, considered essential. The first is mostly made up of offences against persons, property, morals and public order; the second of crimes committed under cover of official positions; against international laws; by \"intelligence services\"; terrorism; economic and financial frauds; illicit trade; criminal corruption at high levels; discriminatory practices; pollution; illicit traffic drugs, etc.. The vast majority of them are defined as criminal offences by national penal codes and special laws, but largely go unpunished. Unconventional crime cannot be explained by the traditional references to the personality of the offender. The explanation for the failure of contemporary criminology lies mostly in regarding the phenomenon of criminality as the ensemble of crimes which may be individually explained, instead of considering it as a sociopolitical phenomenon. If criminology is to survive, it must realize that the conventional is only one aspect of the sociopolitical phenomenon of crime, and that the study of unconventional crime demands an approach that the self-satisfied criminologies of our time cannot provide. {"title":"[Prospects of therapeutic intervention in drug addiction in prisons].","authors":"E A Segre,&nbsp;E Calvanese,&nbsp;L Lampertico,&nbsp;G Ponti,&nbsp;C Zucca-Alessandrelli","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>The non-penalization envisaged by the new law concerning the use and possession of drugs, will not cause the population of drug addicts to disappear from the prisons; it is however to be expected a qualitative modification of them, with the drug addicts clinically in most serious and persistent conditions and more involved with the criminal subculture, gradually increasing in number. Such individuals will represent a group of potential customers much different from that found up to now, and their more meaningful features will concern their age (higher), polytoxicomania (almost always resulting in heroinism), the abandonment of all family ties, of the pristine social and cultural status, of work, to acquire a new role, where identity is extremely ambiguous and uncertain.
