Indian population consists of people from varied cultural and religious backgrounds. In Indian view point, a dental myth regularly emerges from conventional belief of non exploratory base. People believe in spiritual treatment and alternative forms of medicine, they prefer visiting a hakim (local traditional practitioner) to a doctor.\u0000\u0000 Materials and Methods: The study was conducted with approval from institutional ethical committee of SIBAR Institute of dental sciences, Andhra Pradesh. A self administered questionnaire based survey was conducted among out- patient division of the institution. \u0000\u0000Results: In the present study 87.7% of the participants said that tooth problems should be taken seriously and cannot be neglected.42.3% agreed to the myth that ‘’no visible dental problem means no need to visit the dentist’’.\u0000 \u0000Discussion: A positive finding of the present study, i.e., 18.3 percent believed that placing a medicament beside a painful tooth can relieve pain is significantly less than 30.8 percent of Raina SA et al.\u0000 Conclusion: The results of the current study showed that myths still hover in the minds of the common people.\u0000\u0000Key words: Myths, dental students, institution.

Unlike the normal individuals, visually impaired ones cannot suspect the early dental problem in their oral cavity till it is symptomatic simply because they cannot visualize the intricacies of it. Hence, assessment of the oral health status in the visually impaired individuals and teaching them preventive oral care are extremely important for them.\u0000\u0000Objective:\u0000The study was undertaken to compare and assess the oral health status of the visually impaired students before and after giving them oral care instructions.\u0000\u0000Materials and Methods:\u0000A group of 120 visually impaired students was selected. They were subjected to simple dental examination and were given oral care instructions verbally. Proper tooth-brushing technique was taught to them individually. The subjects were evaluated as per the need of dental restorations, extractions, orthodontic treatment, oral prophylaxis and good dentition subjects needing no dental treatment. The same subjects were re-evaluated after four months under similar guidelines. The data collected from both the phases of dental examination was compared and subjected to analysis.\u0000\u0000Results:\u0000The present study did not show much of improvement of statistical significance though it did not show much of worsening in the oral health status of the visually impaired subjects as well.\u0000\u0000Summary and conclusion:\u0000The study emphasizes the serious need for repetitive and collective efforts with multi-dimensional cross-involvement for the better oral health status of the visually impaired individuals in the society.\u0000\u0000Key Words:\u0000Visually impaired, oral health, instructions, tooth-brushing technique.

Materials and Methods In this clinical study, a total of 72 participants with dentinal hypersensitivity (DH) after periodontal treatment were included. 36 participants were assigned to the test group, treated with 1.23% APF gel iontophoresis and 36 participants were in the control group, treated with topical application of calcium sodium phosphosillicate. The VAS score was measured using tactile, air blast and cold-water test at baseline, 2 weeks and 2 months. Results Inter group comparison showed, statistically significant reduction in difference from baseline to 2 weeks follow-up and baseline to 2 months follow-up in VAS score in test group as compared to control group (p<0.001) except for difference from baseline to 2 weeks in air blast test where test and control group showed same reduction. Difference from 2 weeks to 2 months showed no statistically significant reduction in both groups. Intra group comparison showed, statistically significant reduction in baseline to 2 weeks and baseline to 2 months in both groups and from 2 weeks to 2 months no statistically significant reduction in VAS score in both groups.
