The clinical related factor provides knowledge as to the set-up of the DOTS facility. The researchers used the correlational survey design of research since the purpose of this research study is to correlate the DOTS client and clinical related factor as to the effectiveness of the Directly Observed Treatment Short course (DOTS) for tuberculosis in terms of program administration, information dissemination, diagnostic services and medical supplies, and medical follow up. The researchers used the NTPTB register of each Rural Health Unit for the list of client who is registered under the Directly Observed Treatment Short course strategy for the fiscal year 2010 as the respondents of this study. There were eighty-two (82) DOTS client identified and diagnosed of having tuberculosis. In the analysis and interpretation of the data, frequency count, mean and percentage are employed particularly in the interpretation of the profile of the respondents and clinical related factor. Coefficient of Correlation and T-test (test of relationship) is used in determining the influence of the profile of the client and clinical related factor to the effectiveness of the DOTS program. The findings of the study reveals that there is a significant relationship between the profiles of the clients, clinical related factors and the level of effectiveness of the Directly Observed Treatment short course program of the RHU. The study evaluated the effect of endurance exercises on the chronic nonspecific neck pain and disability of bodybuilders. The study used a quantitative multiple time series experimental research design. The subjects were chosen purposively and randomly assigned to either a 4-week neck endurance (experimental group, EG) or usual training (control group, CG). A demographic questionnaire was used in collecting the person and task variables; analog visual scale for the environmental factors, and the Neck Disability Index (NDI) was used in evaluating neck pain and disability. Multiple linear regressions were used in identifying the strongest predictor of NDI while t- test was used to test the hypothesis. Age was the strongest predictor of NDI (r=-0.571, p=0.342). There was a reduction in the NDI score of both the EG and CG, which was statistically significant on the fourth week. A t-test revealed a statistically insignificant result (p=0.124) on the CG while a statistically significant improvement (p=0.000) was found in the EG. A modification of general workout of younger bodybuilders and inclusion of endurance exercises can potentially decrease their risk of neck pain. However, limited researches are made about the impact of connectedness on senior citizens having social networks with their families and friends. This study, therefore, examined the effects of digital and non-digital forms of social networking on senior citizens’ well-being. The participants were taken from Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental, and they were selected through purposive sampling and snowball technique. The research used the phenomenological method and pre-experimental design using pretest and posttest assessments. In this study, the theory of connectedness was developed by establishing axioms and propositions. The theory suggests that human beings need others to socialize and relate with. It proposes that connectedness through social networking using the digital form (facebook, skype, chats, and email) and the non-digital form (face-to-face interactions) a positive impact on the senior citizens’ well-being. This study examined the confluence between the Sorsoguenos passionate love for mother-nature and the contention that the beehive is the best “Pharmacy” and “Clinic” one could ever find. Utilizing the descriptive survey method, a total of 91 respondents in the province of Sorsogon were interviewed on their beliefs in the Apitherapy practice against Green Psychology. The use of field notes became very helpful in demonstrating the extent of effectiveness of utilizing various bee products, ease of its use and satisfaction criteria as measured in a 5-point Likert rating scale. It was concluded that the Sorsoguenos, people of Sorsogon, consider Apitherapy as a natural medicinal alternative which promotes both internal (psychological) and external (environmental) healing. The most common bee products used Apitherapy practice include, honey which is believed to be a very effective treatment for cough and asthma; propolis for allergies and as anti-inflammatory agent; and bee pollen for post-menopausal symptoms and insomnia. Kendall’s W measure of agreement or concordance disclosed a high degree of acceptability on the use of the common bee products for Apitherapy practice in Sorsogon. It is believed that Apitherapy practice would promote restoration of mother-nature while it provides monetary and healthy benefits. The study reveals a positive confluence between the two variables. It implies that Sorsogue n os believe on the significant role of bees for mankind and that humans are needed by the bees for conservation and biodiversity. Currently, there is no established diagnostic reference level in any radiographic procedure in the Philippines. The study aimed to determine doses received by patients undergoing chest posteroanterior (PA) x-ray examinations. In addition, the study also aimed to provide an estimate of entrance surface dose for chest PA for later basis in establishing DRLs in the country. It used a dose survey to collect data. Instruments were used to measure the dose received by the subjects of the study. The result of the data gathering revealed a dose estimate of 0.15± 0.06 mGy which is lower than the reference/guidance levels set by two international organizations: (1) the European Commission (EC, 1997) and (2) the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA, 2007). It is also relatively lower than the doses measured in similar studies in other countries. The result of the study gives an indication of good radiography practice in the tertiary hospital where the study was conducted. This study primarily aimed to find out the underlying factors on the prevalence of smoking among students in public and private schools in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. This study utilized the survey correlation method with a standardized survey instrument from the Department of Health. Cluster sampling was used in the selection of 12 secondary schools in Cagayan de Oro City. Data analysis employed both descriptive and inferential statistics. The general findings revealed that smoking is prevalent in any form of environment and may have a big influence on students or other people to smoke. The overall predictor variables such as peer influence, cool factor, coping with problems, media influences, and family member who smoke including age and gender contributed significantly to the smoking pattern of students. As to smoking cessation, girls tended to stop smoking easily than boys and claimed that to stop smoking brings health benefits to the body. A survey of a representative sample of 148 Měranao high school students with weight problems aged 12-19 years old in the different high schools in Lanao del Sur was conducted, which inquired about their eating habits and nutritional intake and basic demographics. This study examined the convenience for health care providers regarding exclusive breastfeeding in relation to the nature of their jobs, work environment and home support. Three hundred and thirty respondents were purposively surveyed using a validated questionnaire; they were drawn from among medical doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians in private, state and federal government hospitals in Lagos metropolis. One research question on conducive job environment was raised and two hypotheses were tested on husband and employer’ supports. The study revealed that most of the amenities that should be provided in the workplace were not available; health care providers practicing exclusive breastfeeding enjoyed the support of their husbands; but employers’ support was not evident. The study recommended that female health care providers and their employers should be educated on how to amicably manage the practice of breastfeeding in a way that will benefit both employers and employees.
