Clinical-Based Motivation: An Experimental Exploratory Research on Physics Performance of the Health Science Students of the University of Northern Philippines
Clinical-based motivation is an effective way in teaching physics of the fiftythird year Bachelor of Science in Nursing students of the College of HealthSciences, University of Northern Philippines, Vigan City. The study aimedto determine the relevance and effects of clinical-based motivation in physics performance. The study utilized the quasi-experimental design specifically the non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design without the possibility ofthe randomization process. The students in the experimental group were foundstrong in the topics scalar and vector quantities, force, work and energy but weakin measurement. In the control group, they were weak in all the topics. There wassignificant difference between the posttest mean scores of the experimental and control groups. The physics performance of students exposed to clinical-basedmotivation is significantly higher than those in the traditional method. Keywords: Physics, clinical-based motivation, work, vector and energy, quasiexperimentaldesign, Philippines
