Materials and methods: Patients with deep carious class I lesions were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Class I carious lesions were randomly distributed into 4 groups according to treatment material: 1. Propolis, 2. Hesperidin, 3.Silver diamine fluoride with potassium iodide (SDF+KI), and 4. Control group (no treatment). Class I cavities were all prepared using step-wise caries removal technique. The treatment materials were then applied on the remaining carious dentin and restored with a glass ionomer (GIC) restoration. Assessment of remineralization was done by measurement of mineral-density of dentin using digital x-ray machine at baseline, 6-weeks and 12-weeks time intervals. Results: Silver diamine fluoride had a higher significant remineralizing effect than control, propolis or hesperidin. While propolis had a higher significant remineralizing effect than hesperidin. Conclusions: Both silver diamine fluoride and propolis agents have remarkable effect on remineralization of carious dental tissues.","PeriodicalId":7493,"journal":{"name":"Al-Azhar Dental Journal for Girls","volume":"9 2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83396555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material and Methods Forty-eight single rooted premolars were divided into three groups according to the chemical solutions used (16 each) (8 for young teeth <30 years old and 8 for old teeth >50 years old). Group I: irrigated with 5ml of 2.6% NaOCl activated with diode laser, group II: irrigated with 5ml of 2.6% NaOCl without laser activation followed by 5ml of 17% EDTA activated with diode laser and group III: irrigated with 5ml of distilled water activated with diode laser. Then microhardness was evaluated at coronal, middle, and apical thirds of each root canal. Results: In all young and old groups, the coronal third had the highest mean value, followed by the middle, and the apical third had the lowest mean value, with a statistically significant difference between thirds of the groups ( p 0.001<). There was a statistically significant difference between young and old teeth at all levels (coronal, middle, and apical) for each group (I, II, and III), with old teeth having a greater mean microhardness value than young teeth. Conclusion: Irradiation of NaOCl/EDTA solutions with 980-nm diode caused reduction in microhardness of young dentin more than old dentin, and NaOCl only or distilled water in all thirds of groups.","PeriodicalId":7493,"journal":{"name":"Al-Azhar Dental Journal for Girls","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82093143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and Methods: Twelve completely edentulous patients with ages ranging from 50-60 years old were selected from the outpatient clinics of the Removable Prosthodontic Department, Faculty of Dental Medicine for Girls, Al-Azhar University. Twelve complete dentures were constructed according to the balanced occlusal concept and then duplicated for experimental work. Horizontal condylar guidance angles were measured using three different methods; the protrusive interocclusal wax record method, tracing method, and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scan. The angles were adjusted on two types of articulators; Arcon and non-Arcon articulators. The effect of each method and the effect of the two types of articulators on bilateral balanced occlusion were studied. Results: The result of this study showed that there was no significant difference in bilateral balanced occlusion when using different types of articulators or different horizontal condylar guidance registration methods during the construction of complete denture. Conclusion: Within the limitation of this study, it can be concluded that the Hanau system with the wax protrusive record may be the most practical way to obtain the desired relative horizontal condylar angle.","PeriodicalId":7493,"journal":{"name":"Al-Azhar Dental Journal for Girls","volume":"52 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83884684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
