This study explored the challenges encountered and coping mechanisms an amputee manifests, and the assistance that they get from their expected support system. \u0000 \u0000Methodology: This case study was anchored on Dorothea Orem’s Self-Care Theory of Nursing. Four purposively sampled amputee informants were interviewed and observed. Primary and secondary data were gathered and triangulation with the relatives was done to ensure the validity and depth of the results. Data were encoded and analyzed using thematic analysis. \u0000 \u0000Results: Results revealed that the informants experienced physical, psychological, emotional, socio-economic, and spiritual challenges. Physical challenges involved mobility problem and lack of gait balance, physical deformity, adjustment to the new body, altered physical appearance, a sedentary behavior, and phantom pain. Psychological challenges involved suicidal tendency, loss of libido, self-pity, and depression. Emotional challenges included fear and hopelessness. Socio-economic challenges involved the development of anti-social behavior, dissociative behavior, fear of losing a job, problem with money, and fear of rejection. Spiritual challenges involved loss of faith. Coping mechanism included support from family and friends, mastery of gait and balance, proper practice in using assistive devices, hastened adjustment to the new body, wearing of prosthesis, medication and mobility, and trust in God. Although they get strong support from the family and friends, there is very limited assistance from the government and the community. \u0000 \u0000Discussion: There is a need to increase family awareness in anticipating the needs of the amputees. Likewise, full support must be given to them. Health education campaign may be formulated by the local health leaders and provision of assistive devices and equipment to achieve the equalization and opportunities for persons with disabilities may also be done.

PETN acts as prodrug for nitric oxideas active component. However, in clinical association, it is known a decreased ability oforganic nitrate to do chemical reduction, which is metabolic tolerance, by upregulation inendogenic thiol system. It has been proved that supplementation of thiol is able to overcometolerance to nitrate, nevertheless there is no comprehensive reports on interaction betweenorganic nitrate and thiol compounds. The goal of this research is to study decompositionreaction kinetic of PETN under influence N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and thiosalicylic acid(TSA) as thiol compounds, in the physiological condition. PETN as tracing compound weremonitored by chromatographic system, with ratio of thiols used was equal, doubled, fivetimes, and ten times folds. Data were analyzed kinetically by using math equation for reactionorder 1, 2, and composite order 1 (equivalence). The result showed the linearity values onkinetic derivative, where correlation coefficient, r, is higher than 0.9 (r ≥ 0.9) for compositeorder 1. The result will give scientific contribution about tolerance phenomena in organicnitrate, particularly in the role of thiol compound to overcome nitrate tolerance.

The Philippine islands are endemic to soil-transmitted helminth with approximately 25 million Filipinos at risk of acquiring the infection. Despite the deworming program of the Department of Health (DOH), re-infection is very common. This study investigated the effect of integrated sanitation and hygiene program among the second grade students of a coastal town in the Philippines. \u0000Methods: Utilizing quasi-experimental study, two group pretest and posttest design, 70 participants from the elementary school of a coastal town in the Philippines were chosen randomly to join the study. \u0000Results: Overall result showed that experimental group maintained a zero re-infection during the first and second months after the intervention; while the control had one case of re-infection. Moreover, result showed significant difference during pretest and posttest on knowledge (p = <0.05) and self-efficacy (p = <0.05) but not significant on practice (p = 0.77). Analyzing the two groups, significant difference was noted between the experimental and control group on knowledge (p = <0.05) and self-efficacy (p = <0.05), with the experimental group faring better after one and two months post intervention; but no significant difference was noted on practice, one and two months post intervention (p = 0.56, 0.43). The odds of the experimental group acquiring helminthiasis was 68% lower than the control group but is not considered significant (OR = 0.32; p = 0.49). \u0000Discussion: The program was successful in reducing the re-infection of helminthiasis and is recommended that continuous health education on hygiene and sanitation must be considered in the home and school. \u0000

But the students mathematical problem solve ability is not high yet, one of the factor is because many students only know the standard procedures of solving mathematics problems, and when the given problem are different from the examples they tend to give up easily. This comparative design study aims to find out the improvement of students mathematical problem solving ability using Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model with individual assignments and small group assignments, and to find out whether there are differences between those two. Method: The sample in this study was VII grade students at SMP Advent Cimindi and SMP Advent II Bandung, Bandung. The instruments used in the study are mathematical problem solving test and questionnaire for response toward the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model as the non-test instrument. Result: The results showed that the improvement of mathematical problem solving abilities of students who obtained the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model with individual assignments and students who obtained the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model by assigning small groups was categorized as high. Statistically, there is a significant difference in the students mathematical problem solving improvement after being taught using Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model, between students who get individual assignments and small group assignments. However, not all of the students live in the dormitory, the students can opt to stay outside of the dormitory and stay in the campus’ surroundings. Thus, it is necessary to have a system that can differentiate which student is eligible to have meals in the campus’ dining room. Therefore, in this research we propose to use cards embedded with an RFID chip that can be authenticated using a card reader that connects to the university’s online system to determine and record the students that have meals in the dining room. In this research we use prototyping paradigm, that defines a set of general objectives for the proposed software and adding the detailed requirements or functions while the software is being deployed.: The implemented system proved can identify the students that are permitted to have meals at the campus dining room using RFID cards. When a student taps his/her card to the reader, the application reads the unique number and compared it with the record in the database and display the student’s name, photo and their status. The software also records the students who have tapped their card and prevent the student to take more than one plate in a meal time. The stored record in the database is integrated to the existing online system in the university and can be accessed by authorized parties in campus. The software can be further implemented to different departments in the university such as: library, dormitory, entrance gate; to provide an integrated single identity card that can be used to authenticate students in the campus. \u0000 \u0000

The most opposed groups are religious groups. Some countries have legalized this action while others have not. The backgrounds of people deciding to change their genitals are twofold: first, because they feel they are in the “wrong body” where their behavior is contrary to the genitals they have. Second, the development of genital devices is not perfect. That is why an axiology study needs to be made on the decision to change the genitals in humans. Axiology itself means the science or theory of the nature of values which investigates values in terms of their nature, their size, and their metaphysical status relating to their usefulness. In axiology, Max Scheler gave four levels of value, namely: (1) The value of “enjoyment” or “pleasure” (agreeable) and “dislike” or “displeasure” (disagreeable); (2) The value of vitality or welfare or life (vital feeling); (3) Spiritual values; (4) Holiness or holy value. Of the four values of Max Scheler, it was found that the decision to change the genitals in humans does not have the essence of any value except just the value of enjoyment or pleasure. \u0000Result:That is, this kind of action actually denies the nature of existing values. The value of enjoyment obtained through sex change surgery is actually only “mortal” or for a moment enjoyment because it is precisely the disappointment that appears at the end. It is just the lowest value out of four. \u0000Discussion: Therefore, the author suggested that those who feel themselves trapped in the “wrong body” are better off doing psychiatric and religious therapy so that the nature of the values that they have can be developed rather than making changes to the genitals.
