Design thinking is one of the major branches of sciences that is fast developing with the economic development of nations around the globe. Design thinking could also be considered as a core human-centered, problem solving, and creative solutions to human living. There is a progressive modification of designs in the improvements of components both inside (functional components) and outside (aesthetics) of product-service design. The purpose of this study is to identify and understand the elements and the importance of design thinking and its implications in the management of design in products and services in organizations. Designs are the impact of the previous designs and the influences of human thinking on designs. Progressive learning on design thinking promotes a better understanding of consumer satisfaction. The methodology of the study was done with an observation method of product-service designs with a minimum of five years. The products considered are in the area of electronics (computer, mobile phones), service institutions, automobiles, road constructions, and houses. The data collected were of two categories, design patterns of aesthetics and functional components. Findings show there is progressive learning of human of physical factors on structural configuration and preferences relating to human physical, cognitive, spiritual and social need fulfillment. Designs fundamentally originate from human mind for ease of life (convenience), human behavioral factors, and structural implications. Design origins imply an understanding of consumers’ preferences by producers. Better designs generate demand. The inducement of designs in products and services improves consumers’ satisfaction. Further study could be undertaken on design functional thinking. Discussions on design thinking highlight design aptness in daily living, acceptance of design is subjective rather than objective, cost and design, creativity and design and the scope of design.

Lauron, MDC1 \u00001Department of Development Communication, Adventist University of the Philippines \u0000che.lauron@gmail.com \u0000 \u0000Introduction: \u0000 \u0000The active usage of the Filipinos in the social media application called Facebook may influence the society, the election campaign and result but hard evidence is scarce. Hence, this study intends to analyze how the engagement of users through ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ on the Facebook campaign posts can predict the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election. \u0000 \u0000Methods: \u0000The study delved on interpreting how Facebook as a communication channel predicted the election result based on the engagement in likes and shares in the Facebook campaign posts. Only the number of likes and shares of the posts based on the total count on the original post on the candidates’ official Facebook page were analyzed. These were posted during the campaign period declared by the Commission on Elections. The social net importer was used in the data gathering process then the calculation using a statistical tool followed as basis for analysis. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Results: \u0000The official election result from the COMELEC confirmed that Rodrigo Duterte won in the 2016 Presidential election with a total of 16,601,997 votes. Grace Poe secured the highest number of likes and shares, 13,036,065 likes and 1,511,020 shares, respectively but she only ranked as third in the official election. Results show that the number of likes and shares on the Facebook election campaign posts are not significant in predicting the election result. \u0000 \u0000Discussion: Future studies in relation to Philippine Presidential election may be conducted and other variables can be considered like the Presidential debate likes and shares, comments, and other Facebook reactions like heart, wow, sad and thankful. \u0000 \u0000Keywords: Facebook Likes, Facebook Shares, Campaign Posts, 2016 Philippine Presidential Election Results \u0000 \u0000
