These converters generally use Power diodes or SCR (silicon controlled rectifiers) which has non-linear characteristics. Due to this reason such converters generate highly non-sinusoidal currents at the power supply utility. As a result of distorted currents the voltage waveforms at the point of common coupling (PCC) at which other consumers are connected are also exposed to distorted supply. This paper proposes a harmonic compensator using lesser number of power devices controlled by simple and effective current controlled PWM. The reference currents are generated offline based on a particular load current and is used to generate the PWM waveforms to drive the switches intended to reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the input current in the three-phase ac supply system. The performance of the reduced switch harmonic compensator shows significant improvement in the nature of input currents. The power structure of the compensator is a three-limb voltage source converter consisting of four IGBTs, two per leg and the third leg comprising of two split capacitors forming the dc bus and its mid-point acting as the pole point for third wire connection of three-phase.","PeriodicalId":6501,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Intelligent Control Power and Instrumentation (ICICPI)","volume":"24 1","pages":"199-203"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87173773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sensor nodes are often deployed nonuniformly in anisotropic WSNs with holes in many applications. The existence of holes will affect the shortest distance between nodes and result in low accuracy of node localization. In this paper, an Extended Kalman Filter Multidimensional Scaling (EKF-MDS) localization algorithm is proposed based on Multidimensional Scaling-MAP (MDS-MAP). By exploring the virtual node, it can construct the shortest path in order to estimate the distances between unknown nodes. The extended Kalman filter (EKF) algorithm is used to refine the localized coordinates which are obtained by the MDS-MAP algorithm. Extensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm requires fewer anchors and is exceedingly accurate and efficient and is superior to existing methods in anisotropic networks with holes.","PeriodicalId":6501,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Intelligent Control Power and Instrumentation (ICICPI)","volume":"6 1","pages":"263-267"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81085728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The need for improvement of the hearability problem in modern telecommunication system has huge applications in security section. A comparative study of Bit Error Rate (BER) vs Signal to Noise Ratio under near-far environment by Multi User Detection Decorelator (MUD-Decorrelator) & MUD-Decision Feedback method are proposed in this paper. BER of the modulated signal is modified using MUD-Decision Feedback system instead of single user & MUD-Decorelator. The transmitted & received Power Spectral Density (PSD) in both methods declares that qualities of signals remain unchanged. Also the intermediate PSD are plotted here to clarify the security of the signals as well as the systems. Performance analysis of MUD-decision feedback method and MUD-Decorelator method is illustrated in this paper.","PeriodicalId":6501,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Intelligent Control Power and Instrumentation (ICICPI)","volume":"1989 1","pages":"258-262"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82312148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pipeline ADC is the latest inclusion in this list. It is very high speed and high resolution in nature. To make the conversion error free, a digital error correction technique has been used which is termed as 1.5 bits/stage. This design is a very useful technique to eliminate error due to comparator offset. The architecture is so designed that it does not need any extra circuitry for error detection and correction. To realize 4 bits from 4 stages, 1.5 bits/stage technique is used and error curves are drawn between theoretical and practical values which shows close proximity between them.","PeriodicalId":6501,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Intelligent Control Power and Instrumentation (ICICPI)","volume":"2 1","pages":"65-66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73269495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first one is an effective method to ensure the robust stability of the closed loop system whereas the second one is very useful in shaping the transient response of the closed loop system by placing the eigenvalues and eigenvectors in the desired locations. Hence, to design a controller which not only ensures the robust stability of the closed loop system but also shapes the closed loop transient response very well, these two methods are combined by minimizing a mixed time and frequency domain performance index. A directed search based method already exists in the literature to solve such an optimization problem. But such a directed search based method is computationally tedious as it requires gradient calculation of the objective function and does not guarantee to yield the global minimum of the objective function. The present work proposes a randomized algorithm based solution to the aforementioned optimization problem. This randomized algorithm based method is computationally easier than the directed search based method and gives improved results due to the increased chance of reaching the global minimum of the objective function.","PeriodicalId":6501,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Intelligent Control Power and Instrumentation (ICICPI)","volume":"33 1","pages":"32-36"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83246685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Formation of dry bands on insulating surfaces result in electric field enhancement leading to surface discharges, dry-band arcing etc. which in turn affects the long term performance of the insulators. Hence, in the present work, a polymeric insulating surface is modeled as sheath model using Comsol Multiphysics software. Electric stress analysis is performed in presence of dry bands of different length and at different locations on a contaminated insulating surface. Moreover, the effect of different contamination levels on electric field distribution in presence of dry bands have also been investigated.","PeriodicalId":6501,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Intelligent Control Power and Instrumentation (ICICPI)","volume":"10 1","pages":"89-92"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84336175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
