Existing research is still primitive in their abilities to resolve ecological security problem. In this case study, the indicators for ecological security evaluation was established in a Pressure-State-Response (PSR) framework. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to determine the weight of the indices. And the ecological security status classification was evaluated by the ESI model for the years of 1999-2005. Grey Model (1,1) was applied to forecast the development trend of ecological security from 2006 to 2010 in Heilongjiang Province. This paper validated a new case study based on an indicator-based PSR framework, and combined the AHP assessing approach and Grey Model (1,1) prediction model. The results showed that the ecological security ranked the grade Fifth in 2000 and the grade Third in 2005, indicating the increase of ecological security. Predictions show that ecological security will be the grade Third for 2006, the grade Second for 2007-2008, and the grade First for 2009-2010. Thus, it can be seen that the ecological security is improving year by year, and the ecological environment quality has obviously improved with the implementation of eco-province construction since 2000. Through the effective facilitation of eco-province construction etc., the sustainable and healthy development of ecological security will finally be realized in Heilongjiang Province.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"16 1","pages":"4421-4425"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79347414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The finite element method was employed. According to different inlet and outlet conditions, several groups were divided and numerical experiments were done. The distributions of blood flow velocity are blunt; the blood pressure changes are different, and reflection is presented in a certain pressure waveform; the stresses and strains of blood vessel wall are caused by the blood pressure and they reflect the change trend and waveform of the pressure. The effects of inlet and outlet conditions on fluid-wall interaction models in hemodynamics are significant and the conditions can affect flow field distributions.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"49 1","pages":"1694-1698"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84308727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results were as follows: At present, a total of 234 plant species representing 145 genera and 58 families were recorded at all plots. By means of TWINSPAN, DCA and disturbance identification, restoration vegetation could be divided into 6 major types (2 natural communities and 4 artificial communities accounting for different anthropogenic disturbances, respectively). DCA figure represented a disturbance gradient that increased from the bottom to the top along the second DCA axis. Species richness and Shannon-Wiener index in artificial communities markedly decreased as the intensity of disturbance increased. Heavy disturbance resulted in low diversity and inhibited regeneration because of the failure of tree establishment, growth, and survival during regeneration. Species diversity was higher in artificial undisturbed community than in natural undisturbed community. Therefore, high diverse mixed species in restoration and avoiding strong disturbance in this region can accelerate succession and maintain high species richness and diversity.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"59 1","pages":"4396-4399"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84487134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Problems can be caused by the release of oxygen consumption matter originating from the bottom sediment, which has a high concentration of organic matter. The major reason for DO decline and water body fetor is the release of organic matter in the sediment and the mineralization of oxygen consumption. The impact of the estuarine water DO on the nutrients in sediments was investigated by experimental simulations. The changes in environmental factors such as the nutrients in the water that overlies the sediment in the Liao river was analyzed, and was associated with the DO concentration in order to discover the reason for the formation of low-oxygen water in the estuaries. The experimental simulation results indicated that the DO concentration in the sediment overlaying water was lower than in the main water body, and the COD in the sediment overlaying water was higher than in the main water body. The results prove that the sediment is a vital factor that affects the DO concentration in the sediment overlaying water. Correlative analysis indicates that nutrients showed better correlativity with the DO in the main water body than in the sediment overlaying water. Because the gross of the nutrients in the overlaying water varies greatly due to the nutrients released from the sediment, analysis of the correlativity is impossible. The organic matter in the overlaying water has a great effect on the DO content in the main water body.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"36 1","pages":"3069-3072"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85014513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ICP-AES (inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrum) was used to investigate mass concentration of 17 elements (K, Na, Ca, Mg , As, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cr, Al, Fe, Mn, Ba, Sr, Ni, Se) in whole sample and soluble fraction of Shanghai PM2.5. Our results claimed total elements in Shanghai PM2.5 increased gradually from summer to winter and kept in a relative higher level in spring. Mass dosage of different elements in PM2.5 had a significant difference. Enrichment factor (EF) analysis results demonstrated that K, Na, Ca, Mg, AK Fe, Ba, Sr originated from natural resources, while As, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd , Mn, M, Se emitted by anthropogenic resources. Rotated Component Matrix study testified that there exists a strong relationship among Ca, Fe, Mn, Ba, suggesting these elements originated from crustal resources. Anthropogenic polluted elements, such as Zn and Pb have a close relationship, indicating they have the same resource. As in Shanghai PM2.5 might have one single resource, it needs further study.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"3 1","pages":"3758-3761"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80938906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the basis of controlling for some confounding factors, such as the long-term trend of hospital admissions, 'day of the week' (DOW) effect, meteorological factor and so on, with semi-parametric generalized additive model (GAM) being employed, the regression model was established. Results showed that PM<sub>10</sub>, SO<sub>2</sub> and NO<sub>2</sub> were all associated with increased risk of respiratory hospital admissions. The best lag days for PM<sub>10</sub>, NO<sub>2</sub> were current day (lag 0) and three days before (lag 3), while average moving within four days was best suitable (avg03) for SO<sub>2</sub>. The effect of a 10 mug/m<sup>3</sup> rise in PM<sub>10</sub> was estimated to represent a 0.38% (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.24%-0.53%) increase in respiratory hospital admissions. 1.48% (95% CI: 1.24%-1.72% ) increase for a 10 mug/m<sup>3</sup> increase in SO<sub>2</sub> , and 0.77% (95% CI: 0.36%-1.18%) for a 10 mug/m<sup>3</sup> increase in NO<sub>2</sub> were also observed. The response to fluoxetine was assessed by the Medical Outcomes Study Pain Measures (MOSPM). The patients were divided into two groups (responders and non-responders) according to the MOSPM response rate. The T102C polymorphism genotype and allele frequencies of 5-HT2A receptor gene in these 51 patients and 60 healthy controls were detected with PCR-RFLP technique. 1. No significant association was found between persistent somatoform pain disorder and 5-HT2A receptor gene T102C polymorphism. 2. In responders group, number of patients with C/C genotype and C allele frequency was significantly higher than that of non-responder group, while the frequency of T/T genotype and T allele was vice versa (p<0.05). It indicated that the T102C polymorphism of the 5- HT2A receptor gene was not significant factor associated with persistent somatoform pain disorder, but it may be one predictor of the analgesic efficacy of some SSRIs treatment.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"25 1","pages":"399-401"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84149455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

High radial force has become an essential feature of new coronary stents. The primary aim of this investigation was to investigate the effects of varying stent \"design parameter\" on the radial force of stent by using the finite element method (FEM). The generic stent models were designed to represent a sample of the attributes incorporated in present commercially available stents. The finite element model to evaluate radial force of stent was set up based on the stent prototype testing. The results show that amplitude was the dominant parameter in this study. Increasing either strut width or thickness generally improved radial force of stent. However, increasing either amplitude or radius of curvature generally weakened it. In conclusion, FEM can quantify compressive mechanical property of stent and help designers to optimize stent system.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"3 1","pages":"1712-1716"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78281279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fortunately, deformation based morphometry (DBM) provides an important tool for the computational anatomy research. In this study we detected the changes of regional volume in brain structures between the first episode schizophrenia (FES) and normal controls with DBM method. Information of the difference is derived from the deformation field acquired during HAMMER non-rigid registration. The experimental results show that contracted regions are mainly located in Brodmann42 and right occipital lobe while the expanded regions are located in Brodmann38, 21, left middle frontal gyrus and left cerebellum. This research is very helpful to make the cause of changes in schizophrenia's brain structures clear.","PeriodicalId":6399,"journal":{"name":"2008 2nd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"43 1","pages":"2401-2404"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78548535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
