For this reason, many people doubt that Hanung Bramantyo as popular movie director can perfectly and deeply adapt Pramoedya’s literary works into movies. Some scholars agree that one of the fundamental values in Pramoedya’s works is humanism. However, since Pramoedya visited China and was involved in Lekra, their opinions were split into two categories of humanism: universal humanism on the one hand and the socialist humanism on the other. This research attempted to scrutinize whether Pramoedya is on one of the humanism categories or beyond both categories. Theoretical framework of this research is Laclau and Mouffe’s discourse theory combined with Bhabha’s concept Location of Culture, while the method is the appropriate discourse analysis method. This research found that Pramoedya’s humanism is beyond universal and socialist humanism. In his articulations of humanism as uncovered from his literary works, there are different positions taken by Pramoedya according to different discursive arenas in wich the humanism articulated. In other words, Pramoedya’s postcolonial humanism is located in the liminal area that is always in contestation and negotiation.","PeriodicalId":55790,"journal":{"name":"Atavisme","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48175242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Karo and Kasada are Tenggerese traditions rooted in oral literature. Both traditions are closely related to environmental wisdom which is interesting to be studied in regard with ecological issues that have become global issues. The data in this study include library data and field data. The library data come from written information and reports on two rituals obtained from articles, journals, and research reports. The field data come from interviews with Dukun Pandita in Tengger, talking about rituals and folklore that underlie, them and observation of ritual events. The data is then categorized into descriptive units and interpreted using ecocriticism approach. The results show that the nature, nurture, and culture intertwine with the essence of Karo and Kasada so that every ritual practice cannot be separated from the symbolization of the relationship between humans and nature, which is about how humans and all practices of culture respect and maintain harmonious relations with the environment.","PeriodicalId":55790,"journal":{"name":"Atavisme","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41325493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Le Clézio. Presenting main characters who are coming from the dominant class, the texts reveals its ambivalence forms. It stimulates question towards the text resistence potential itself over the dominant ideology, whether the text itself is subversive or ultimately collapse under the dominant ideology. To analyze this issue, Frederic Jameson’s Political Unconscious theory is applied. The findings of this study are: 1) political horizon shows the text as the imaginary resolution over the social contradiction, through critical works towards bourgeois class; 2) social horizon shows that the ideologeme can be found in the form of the society demoralization which creates the ambivalence of the characters. This ultimately deflects bourgeois values as a fantasy of an ideal life; and 3) modes of production has put the author as a cynical subject, where the author's ideology contained in the text has been distorted in a certain way by late capitalism ideology","PeriodicalId":55790,"journal":{"name":"Atavisme","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46226464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data, in the form of sentences or paragraph quotes from romances, are classified and analyzed to obtain a complete understanding of environmental issues based on the concept of the role of nature. The results of the analysis show that the role of nature, which is believed to be both magical and real, will determine the form of identity of its social control. Magical roles provide sacred nature as a form of ecocentricism, while the real role symbolizesthat nature can be mastered or opposed which reflects the form of anthropocentrism from the perspective of environmental ethics. This study also shows that the real role is more dominant than the occult role so the end of the story is shown by the form of sad ending.","PeriodicalId":55790,"journal":{"name":"Atavisme","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48490780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the questions raised here are: 1) how does didacticism manifest in Adit Sopo Jarwo and 2) what serves as the background forsuch didacticism. I reviewed the theory of didacticism in children’s literature and theories related to the phenomena of post-secularism and post-islamism. The object of this study includesten episodes of Adit Sopo Jarwo. The objects were analyzed in two stages. In the first stage, I analyzed the themes of the objects of study. Then, the pattern obtained from the first stage was discussed with regards to the social and historical backgrounds of the objects. The study resulted in the discovery of the monolithic tendency in the didactic pattern of Adit Sopo Jarwo, which in this case manifests in the presence of Haji Udin as the dominant source of wisdom. It can be interpreted here that Islam is the dominant source of wisdom despite the fact that the characters are diverse in terms of religion. With regards to the social background, this monolithic tendency can be interpreted further as being in line with the phenomena of post-islamism, especially with the notion of exclusivist but tolerant Islam, in which there is an exclusivist tendency in terms of theology but sociologically tolerant.","PeriodicalId":55790,"journal":{"name":"Atavisme","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48965605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem discussed is the blurred norms as the form of criminal monstrosity development in Hannibal. The theory used is the criminal monstrosity developed by Alexa Wright (2013). This research uses analytical descriptive method. Data from novels and television series are described and compared to get the grand concept of criminal monstrosity. The results showed that the blurred norms in Hannibal can be seen through normalization of cannibalism by using culinary aesthetic, the role of Will Graham from FBI to Hannibal’s crime partner, and a more intimate relationship between Will and Hannibal. These blurred norms created a new monstrosity narrative: a monstrous criminal nature behind a person who looks normal and able to function properly in society.","PeriodicalId":55790,"journal":{"name":"Atavisme","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47471730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
