Por isso, conhecer a região de ocorrência dos defeitos pode ser uma ferramenta útil para quem beneficia madeira. Sendo assim, este trabalho objetivou agrupar radialmente tábuas de Eucalyptus grandis com base nos defeitos naturais e de secagem. Seis árvores foram desdobradas em tábuas e separadas em duas regiões: central (C) e externa (E). As tábuas centrais (C) apresentavam maior proporção de madeira da região próxima à medula; e as externas (E), maior proporção de madeira da região próxima à casca. Os defeitos ocorridos nas tábuas secas em estufa convencional, a 10 % de umidade foram avaliados por meio de análise multivariada e variaram no sentido medula-casca. A análise de agrupamento separou a madeira em duas regiões (central e externa) e a análise de componentes principais destacou quais defeitos foram dominantes para cada região. As tábuas externas (E) apresentram maior intensidade de encurvanento e encanoamento. As centrais (C) apresentaram maior intensidade de arqueamento, nós, bolsas de resina ou kino, colapso e rachaduras superficiais. Essas informações podem ser importantes para quem industrializa madeira, pois, sabendo em qual região o defeito mais ocorre, uma peça de madeira pode deixar de ser utilizada. No entanto, o fator operacional deve ser levado em consideração, pois características da madeira, o tipo e condições do equipamento de corte, método de desdobro, layout da serraria, pode inviabilizar a separação da tora em duas regiões.","PeriodicalId":53573,"journal":{"name":"Floresta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44862669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Brenan, Peltophorum dubium (Spreng.) Taub., Eucalyptus grandis × Eucalyptus urophylla, and Schizolobium parahyba (Vell.) Blake from an agroforestry system. For this purpose, twelve 9-year-old trees were felled. To evaluate the anatomical properties, the specimens were taken from the diameter region at breast height (DBH at 1.30 m from the ground). To determine the mechanical characteristics, central planks from the DBH of the tree logs were removed to produce test specimens with dimensions of 2.5 × 2.5 × 41.0 cm. The modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, tension of the proportional limit, and maximum force were then evaluated. Conversely, test specimens with dimensions of 5 × 5 × 15 cm for were used for the transversal and longitudinal Janka hardness and perpendicular compression tests. The higher the cell wall fraction, vessel frequency, and ray frequency values, the better the mechanical properties. Conversely, with the increase in the fiber diameter, lumen diameter, vessel diameter, height, and width of rays, the values of the mechanical properties of wood are lower.","PeriodicalId":53573,"journal":{"name":"Floresta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42780218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The economic analysis was based on the dataset provided by the Embrapa Agrossilvipastoril and used to elaborate a cash flow, as well as on the following selected criteria, Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, and Profitability Index, for a Minimum Attractive Rate of 4.15% annually. The risk analysis was also carried out using the Monte Carlo probabilistic method, considering seven variables, such as the clearcut and thinning wood price, lean cattle selling price, animal acquisition and forest harvesting costs, thinning and clearcutting yield. The calculated analyzed economic indexes are as follows R$ 4,083,307.77 NPV, 6.48% IRR and 21.36% PI, which indicates the economic feasibility of the studied integration system. The risk analysis shows that this is a low-risk project since the probability of NPV being negative was calculated as 14.4%. However, no matter how efficient the risk prediction tools are, producers must have technical assistance from trained professionals to adequately interpret and mitigate the risks. The studied forest-livestock integration system is economically feasible and low risk.","PeriodicalId":53573,"journal":{"name":"Floresta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41961094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are several efforts to reduce and control these costs, considering efficient equipment and optimization frameworks. Due to the pattern of combinatorial problems, the deterministic methods have a high computational effort of processing time, which generally makes their use unfeasible. An alternative procedure is applying approximation algorithms, which have efficient searches for finding feasible solutions. The present study evaluated algorithms for solving the forest transport sequencing problem. The Simulated instances were designed to highlight three instances for 10, 20, and 30 stands with a realistic pattern. According to the operational set, four solving strategies were proposed, considering three algorithms (Simulated Annealing, Greedy, and Greedy-Simulated Annealing). The computational code, processing, and analysis of the data were performed using RStudio software. The results show feasible solutions from all tested algorithms, highlighting the hybrid Greedy-Simulated Annealing algorithm. With proven normality and homogeneity of variance, the algorithms were tested with the Tukey test at a level of 5%. The blocks, stand random selection, and multiple flow strategies produced the best results of the tested instances. As a conclusion, the proposed algorithms are efficient for solving the forest transportation problem and may be helpful at the operational planning level.","PeriodicalId":53573,"journal":{"name":"Floresta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46142308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the percentile method was used, and a function was established between the shape parameter, the asymptotic percentiles, and the scale parameter. This function was tested with continuous forest inventory (CFI) data of a Khaya grandifoliola stand and Eucalyptus spp. in integrated forest-livestock-forest (IFLF) systems, and the function was also validated based on distributions designed by the application of a recovery methodology for determining forest growth and production (FG&P) parameters. The results showed an exact correlation when compared with the parameters calculated by the percentile method. This function using the percentile method, due to its practicality, may be an alternative for obtaining the shape parameter in FG&P methodologies.","PeriodicalId":53573,"journal":{"name":"Floresta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41746346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aimed to evaluate types of the cover of protected environments and reflective material in the production of seedlings of Hymenaea courbaril. The experiments were carried out in four protected environments: (A1) agricultural greenhouse covered with low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film with 42% - 50% shading screen under the film; (A2) agricultural screen with an aluminized screen with 35% shading; (A3) agricultural screen with a black screen of 30% of shading, and (A4) agricultural screen with a black screen of 18% of shading. Production systems were tested with and without reflective material on the cultivation bench in each protected environment. The photosynthetically active radiation reflecting material used was the aluminized screen (Aluminet®). As there were no repetitions of the protected environments, each environment was considered an experiment. In each environment, the experimental design used was completely randomized, with four replications and five plants per plot. Among the variables analyzed, it was observed that the agricultural screen with a black screen (18% of shading) presented better quality seedlings. The system with reflective material presented higher values of the number of leaves and stem diameter.","PeriodicalId":53573,"journal":{"name":"Floresta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41893845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective was to develop a morphometric index for trees located in green areas of Curitiba, Paraná. 122 trees of the five species with the highest number of records of fall and removal in Curitiba were selected: Tipuana tipu, Jacaranda mimosifolia, Erythrina falcata, Melia azedarach and Ligustrum lucidum, in the Passeio Público Municipal of Curitiba and in nine squares located in the Centro district. From the biometric data obtained in the field, the Integrated Morphometric Index (IMI) was calculated through multivariate factorial analysis performed in the statistical software IBM SPSS® Statistics. There was low variability between interdimensional sizes, indicating a pattern of growth among species, especially for T. tipu. On the other hand, J. mimosifolia, E. falcata and M. azedarach present greater variability of the morphometric data, with trees of size considerably higher than the average of the others, while L. lucidum was the species with the smallest interdimensional size. The biometric variables total height, crown height, north crown radius, east crown radius and DBH were the most correlated with the tree growth pattern, explaining 57.9% of the data variation. The generated IMI was adequate to evaluate the behavior of the variables, as it explained 72% of the data variation. The T. tipu trees showed the lowest variability between their interdimensional sizes, thus indicating a more evident growth pattern for this species.","PeriodicalId":53573,"journal":{"name":"Floresta","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48529112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate ergonomic parameters of the operation with harvester in different modes of operation. The operating modes were obtained by changing the engine speed and flow rate of the hydraulic pump. The machine was programmed to operate at engine speeds of 2,060; 2,000; 1,950; and 1,900 rpm and hydraulic pump flow of 300; 295; 290 l min-1, totaling 12 operating modes. The research was carried out on the average tree volumes of 0.08; 0.12; and 0.16 m³ tree-1. The Acceleration values resulting from normalized exposure (Aren) and the TOR (Real Occupancy Rate) - TOMCAR (Maximum Occupancy Rate considering Repetitive Activities) were measured. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and when significant compared by the Tukey test. Changes in the machine's operating mode cause significant decreases in Aren values. A execução da operação deslocamento e busca expõem os operadores aos maiores valores de aceleração resultante de exposição normalizada. A operação com harvester se caracteriza como causadora de doenças ocupacionais. Curitiba prismatica, belonging to the family Myrtaceae, is an endemic species of Araucaria mixed forest (AMF) areas whose leaf essential oils have pharmaceutical properties. The objective of this study was to describe the floristic aspects, diversity, competition and diametric transition of the species associated with C. prismatica in an Araucaria mixed forest area exploited in the Faxinal system. A survey of 35 sample units was carried out using the Prodan method, classifying them as initial (pioneer and early secondary) and late (old secondary and climax). Two hundred ten trees were observed, divided into 16 botanical families, 23 genera and 29 species, with the most associated species being: C. prismatica, Casearia oblique, Casearia sylvestris, Cinnamodendron dinisii (30. Ocotea odorifera, and Casearia decandra. The Shannon (H') and Simpson (C) indices of the associated species were 2.54 nats.ind-1 and 0.14 nats.ind-1, respectively. According to the competition rates denoted by the indices of basal area (BAL), Glover and Hool (IGH) and Hegyi, competition of C. prismatica occurred with greater intensity in trees with DBH ≤ 25 cm. This study aimed to characterize the leaf litter insect fauna in four different areas that included two native forests and two pastures in Serra do Itajaí National Park. Data were collected from August 2014 to August 2015 from pitfall trap installations. The abundance, richness, diversity, family composition, and functional groups were analyzed. In total, 16,062 individuals were collected that were distributed across 16 orders and 101 families. Abundance, family richness, and diversity were similar among the areas. However, the composition differed, demonstrating that the environments possessed different insect fauna communities based on the composition of families. The Coleoptera order with the Ptiliidae family was more abundant in the native forest, while the Hemiptera (Cercopidae and Cicadellidae) were more abundant in the pasture area. The composition of fungivores and phytophagous fungi differed significantly among the areas.
