The study applied the experimental method, with a survey conducted among two groups of college graduates (Chinese and international students). The experiment involved 686 students (343 Chinese students and 343 international students) in their final year. The main criteria for career choices among Chinese students include motivation (76%), interest (62%), personal development (53%), aptitudes (48%), awareness of the profession (38%) and attitudes of their parents/instructors (72%). By contrast, international students chose personal development (81%), aptitudes (74%) and motivation (68%) among the criteria. A career guidance training programme has been developed in order to improve motivation and willingness of college graduates to make decisions about their careers. The practical value and research outlooks are based on the opportunities arising when determining the influence of cross-cultural characteristics on the choice of a profession in the course of exploring the motivation and willingness to make career decisions not just for college graduates but also for universities in China and other countries in a comparative context.RESUMENEste artículo investiga los factores que influyen en las decisiones de los graduados de las universidades chinas sobre sus salidas profesionales. En el estudio se adoptó un método experimental basado en un cuestionario distribuido entre dos grupos de pregraduados universitarios (estudiantes chinos e internacionales). En el experimento participaron 686 estudiantes (343 de nacionalidad china y 343 de otras nacionalidades) que cursaban el último año de estudios. Los principales criterios para la elección de su futura profesión entre los estudiantes chinos incluían: motivación (76%), predisposición (62%), desarrollo personal (53%), aptitudes (48%), conocimiento de la profesión (38%) y actitudes de los padres/instructores (72%). Por el contrario, los estudiantes internacionales basaban sus decisiones en el desarrollo personal (81%), sus aptitudes (74%) y su motivación (68%), entre otros criterios. Se desarrolló un programa de orientación profesional para mejorar la motivación y la predisposición de los graduados universitarios frente a la toma de decisiones sobre sus futuras carreras profesionales. El valor práctico y las perspectivas para futuras investigaciones se basan en las oportunidades que surgen tras determinar la influencia de las distintas características interculturales sobre la elección de la profesión futura en el transcurso del análisis de la motivación y la predisposición a tomar decisiones sobre posibles futuras carreras, no solo para los graduados universitarios sino también para las universidades en China y en otros países en un contexto comparativo.KEYWORDS: career decision-makingChinese ideologycross-cultural analysisChinese educationeducation systemPALABRAS CLAVE: toma de decisionessobre el futu","PeriodicalId":51688,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135636469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The constructivist approach advocates for an implicit way of introduction of basic numerical concepts by exploration of objects and substances, starting from preschool age. The cultural historical approach doesn’t insist on early introduction of mathematical formal knowledge at preschool age, as this period should be dedicated to gradual development of voluntary activity, imagination and symbolic function. According to this conception, primary school is the period of formal introduction of mathematical concepts, based on previous work with general intellectual or logical actions. The goal of the article is to show the methodology of fulfilment of intellectual logical actions with symbolic components at the very beginning of primary school as the preparation for the introduction of general mathematical concepts. Pupils of the first grade of primary school were participants of experimental learning-teaching process online. The authors discuss that more research is still needed to find optimal methodology for the introduction and teaching of mathematics in primary school.","PeriodicalId":51688,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84112705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of music education in college on the development of individuals’ musical and creative abilities in comparison to self-taught musicians. The assessment involved the analysis of these aptitudes of the respondents using two separate techniques: Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Test to identify respondents’ musical aptitudes and Williams’ test battery to investigate divergent thinking. Given the timeliness and correctness of the execution of instructions for each of the tests, the original study sample included 190 individuals. Analysis of the research findings on the two parameters among the majority of respondents confirmed the expected correlation. As for the first factor of the analysis, approximately 53% of the respondents with musical intelligence demonstrated the expected correlation of this indicator with attendance of educational institutions. This being the case, 57% of respondents have a high level of creative thinking given attendance of a college of music.","PeriodicalId":51688,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72820922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted among 120 students (SD = 13.4) at middle music schools in the PRC. The instruments included the Creative Personality Scale (CPS) and the Scale of Musical Experience (SME). On the CPS post-test, the control group demonstrated the same creativity, suggesting the impossibility of independent development of creative abilities within an educational institution. The influence group demonstrated increased medium creativity (10.0%) and strong creativity (11.1%). SME post-test in the control group suggests that poor musical experience fell by 11.4%, medium experience increased by 6.4% and strong musical experience increased by 5.0%. The influence secured the dominance of the medium musical experience, with poor musical experience reduced by 22.3% and strong experience increased by 15.7%. The present findings can enhance scientific knowledge about classical music practices and their adoption within educational institutions. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that creativity-oriented practices can be integrated into music schools.","PeriodicalId":51688,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86513064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study relies on quantitative methods to determine the level of the axiological, cognitive, reflexive and creative components of project activity culture. The respondents were 80 first-year graduate students enrolled in pedagogical programmes. The results show that when studying the axiological component, it was revealed that such values as ‘security’, ‘independence’, ‘kindness’, ‘hedonism’ and ‘universalism’ are the most important for graduate students. For further formation of the project activity culture of graduate students, the need to increase the level of the selected components was revealed. Further research on the issue will be carried out in the context of the implementation of the courses described and determining their effectiveness by reconsidering the selected components.","PeriodicalId":51688,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81690336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The creative thinking of two groups (experimental and control) was examined through pre- and post-tests aimed at musical creativity measurement and assessing the effectiveness of musical improvisation in the development of musical creativity. The post-test mean and standard deviations of each musical creativity factor in the experimental group showed an increase in four factors: musical extensiveness (by 65%), musical flexibility (by 37%), musical originality (by 34%) and musical syntax (by 42%). All correlations between the MCTM factors were significant (p < .01), demonstrating that the four factors are representative of creative thinking. The research is of practical and scientific significance as it proves the factor of the influence of musical improvisation on the development of creative skills in children. The research results can be applied by schools and other educational institutions that are interested in increasing the indicators of creativity of their students.","PeriodicalId":51688,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88902821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
