The researchers created a model for studying film language theory terms, film titles, and film dialogue by combining Semantic Montage and Context. This model addresses an object of study that is distinct from traditional approaches to the study of film language that ignore the issue of metaphor in the field of film studies. The conclusions were as follows: 1.Validate inconsistencies in the Chinese translation of key terms in Christian Metz's film semiotic theory; 2. The model verifies translation errors in film titles; 3. There are three types of semantic montage in the dialogue of contemporary Chinese cinema, all of which need to be analysed in context, not just on a literal level.","PeriodicalId":516818,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal in Advanced Humanities","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140511800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It serves not only as entertainment but also reflects the social reality of Indonesia through its lyrics, often depicting everyday life stories. Some Indonesian Dangdut song lyrics frequently exhibit gender inequality, perpetuating stereotypical views on gender roles by portraying women as sexual objects or passive, while men are often depicted as dominant figures. This research aims to explain gender inequality in the lyrics of well-known Dangdut songs in Indonesia. The research methodology employed is qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques include observation and note-taking. The research data consists of lyrics containing words, phrases, and sentences that represent gender inequality. Data analysis techniques involve content analysis and focus group discussions. The findings of this research contribute to the fields of linguistics, gender equality, and language use in song lyrics. The results indicate that explicit Dangdut song lyrics convey gender inequality between men and women. The subject-object and writer-reader positions are evident in portraying actors in the lyrics. Men are characterized powerful and actively engaged, while women are portrayed as sexual objects, obedient, passive, and accepting anything. The writer's position is that of a song creator observing societal phenomena, while the reader's position is that of music listeners, representing society. Ultimately, this research can provide insights for songwriters, singers, and stakeholders in the music industry regarding the potential impact of lyrics that create or reinforce gender inequality. This may encourage the adoption of more inclusive and gender-aware creation practices.","PeriodicalId":516818,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal in Advanced Humanities","volume":"16 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140511648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hooykaas employs Greg Garrard’s literary ecocriticism. The Sasak folklore delineates the human-nature relationship into two facets: humans as subjects and humans as objects in relation to nature. The former portrays humans viewing nature as the mother of Earth, guided by the ethics of care and a holistic understanding of nature. Conversely, the latter reveals instances of violence and exploitation of nature. By examining these dimensions, this research aims to foster discussions on environmental conservation and integrate awareness regarding its significance. Furthermore, this study contributes to the expansion of literary criticism, particularly within the realm of literary ecocriticism. It serves as a valuable initiative for preserving the local wisdom and folklore of the Sasak people on Lombok Island, Indonesia, emphasising the urgency of environmental consciousness.","PeriodicalId":516818,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal in Advanced Humanities","volume":"21 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140511502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After watching the movie and examining the subtitles, the researchers grouped them into two main categories: culture-specific items (CSIs) and Swear Words. The themes subcategorized under CSIs include i) idioms and proverbs, ii) terms of address, iii) religious expressions, iv) oaths, and v) food and drinks. The themes identified in the movie and subcategorized under Swear Words include i) relative-related, ii) sex-related, iii) animal-related, iv) excretion, and v) rudeness and disrespect. The study utilized the translation strategies proposed by Baker (2001), Gottlieb (1992), and Mughazy (2016). \u0000Findings: The findings showed that the strategies used in translating idioms and proverbs are metaphorical approximation (idiom to idiom), metaphorization, and literalization (paraphrase). The strategies used in rendering terms of address, religious expressions, food & drinks are cultural adaptation, deletion, substitution, and generalization. Swear words were translated using various strategies: substitution, addition, deletion, or literal translation. \u0000Practical Implications: The study concluded that language could be creatively and strategically altered to capture cultural contexts, feelings, and underlying meanings. These translation choices might not be merely linguistic tweaks but calculated efforts to accurately capture the essence of the original expressions with clarity and emotional resonance in the target language.","PeriodicalId":516818,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal in Advanced Humanities","volume":"104 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140511723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It emphasizes the ultimate interconnectedness of lifecycle. Ecofeminists contend that any shot to liberate and release women won’t be fruitful and prolific without the liberation of nature. This article intends to study the woman/nature interconnectedness with ecofeminist perception in Kingsolver’s selected two novels Animal Dreams and Prodigal Summer. It, strictly, challenges environment, animal elimination and how the female protagonists using their environmental consciousness, creating some connections with natural settings and imitates a union between women and nature. The study, indeed, focuses on women (feminism) and nature (ecology) under the authority of men. Ecofeminists attempt to find solutions for the social problems and the diseased cultural masculine system of the societies. Thus, they attempt to examine women and nature and the way they react against the masculine, misogynists, and unequal communities. Hence, they insist to mirror themselves as the source of life. Life will be continued by women who are the backbones of civilizations and families. They deliver courage, nurturing, provision, maintenance and are vital to the development of the children. Consequently, they have the right to take on leadership roles in communal organizations.","PeriodicalId":516818,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal in Advanced Humanities","volume":"104 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140511724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We surveyed ten sample survey sites and asked informants for 200 Swadesh word lists. The data was analyzed by formulating a sound correspondence system based on phonological differences between survey sites, resulting in a sub-dialect classification map. We conclude that there are three variations of the Manggarai language in West Manggarai: The Kempo sub-dialect (MSdK) which covers the districts of Komodo, Mbeliling, and Sano Nggoang; Kolang sub-dialect (MSdS>H) which is spoken in the sub-districts of Pacar, Macang Pacar, Kuwus and Kuwus Barat; This classification is proven by the sound correspondence between MSdK and MSdS>H, such as [e] – [e̯], [i] – [iə], [k] – [ʔ], [s] – [h], [c] – [s], and [h] – [ɣ]. There is also transition area sub-dialect (TAS), which classify the districts of Lembor, Lembor Selatan, Welak, Boleng, and Ndoso in the same group, showing the emergence of all linguistic features in the form of sound correspondences in the two sub-dialects with certain conditions need to be considered. This classification confirms the validity and provides evidence for the sub-dialect groupings carried out by Verheijen and refutes the Language Development and Fostering Agency, Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia, which is not based on scientific evidence.","PeriodicalId":516818,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal in Advanced Humanities","volume":"21 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140512097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
