The great processional cross and the chalice of Castañar de Ibor stand out, unpublished Gothic-Renaissance works by the notable silversmith Juan de Ledesma. The Mannerist chalice from Villar del Pedroso is important, with a hitherto unpublished mark by Juan Váez. Blas Carrasco carved out the purist custody of Cabezuela del Valle in 1674: it has his mark, unpublished. The work is complemented by other works from the 17th and 18th centuries: those made by Juan Domínguez for Losar de la Vera y Serradilla and that by José Sánchez Crespo for Peraleda de la Mata stand out.","PeriodicalId":516708,"journal":{"name":"Norba. Among the twenty-two works that are preserved with his mark, many were wrongly attributed to other artists and ten of them are now made known for the first time. His long professional career of fifty-five years of activity enabled him to produce a wide range of works of both religious and domestic use, those of the 18th century in the Rococo style and those of the 19th century in the Neoclassical style.","PeriodicalId":516708,"journal":{"name":"Norba. This family of artists settled in Seville with the figure of Bartolomé García de Santiago in the mid-17th century and maintained their artistic work until the early 19th century. To this end, the aim is to carry out a biblio-graphical survey on this figure, analysing a new work of art documented after its resto-ration in 2016. Likewise, the copies preserved with the commentary by Lebaniego have stood out precisely because of the great development of their illustrative cycles. The main aim of this study is to analyse the allusion to the black colour of the sun, which was fully meaningful for the author of the text, perhaps also for Beatus and for those who visually translated the sequence in the first copies, but which, as time goes by, is displaced, distorted and updated. Amidst 17th and 18th centuries the main ensemble appeared and some of them are still preserved, therefore it is necessary to relate them with the manufactures at that time and the dating of those styles. Furthermore, we behold a number of embroidery clothing which integrate previous styles to this magnificent collection. The principal aim of this essay is to study the engraved and polychromatic garb of this devotional image to provide new datum to its catalogue. The Virgin of the Rosary from Santibáñez de la Sierra, Salamanca","authors":"Alejandra Del Barrio Luna","doi":"10.17398/2660-714x.43.233","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17398/2660-714x.43.233","url":null,"abstract":"The Virgin of the Rosary of Santibañez of the mountain range of Salamanca is a devotional sculpture with historical interest in the cultural evolution of the village. With a Ghotic origin, it was modified substantially in Hispano-Flemish style and modified later to Baroque style during the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries. The artistic study of the sculp-ture has been based on scientific analysis prior to the restoration because the work is un-derstood as an integral continuum to ensure the best interpretation and conservation of the piece. The restoration of the work has taken into account the materiality of the object, as a primary source for history and art, and the immaterial value, an aspect that is not usually considered and which is the starting point for the application of the criterion of correspondence of polychromes for the conservation of their religious value.","PeriodicalId":516708,"journal":{"name":"Norba. This discovery has significantly expanded our understanding of Ventura Vaca's relevance and influence in a specific geographical region, while enriching our interpretation of his own architectural work. \u0000Furthermore, this research undertakes an incipient analysis of the history of the Casas Consistoriales de Alburquerque, with a focus on the project proposed by Ventura Vaca for this building. This project is considered to be the starting point that gave rise to the final town hall construction, which was carried out by the architect Donato Hernández Ruiz. \u0000Therefore, this study contributes significantly to the existing knowledge about Ventura Vaca, highlighting his crucial role as the driving force behind the transformation of the town of Alburquerque from a rural to an urban society.","PeriodicalId":516708,"journal":{"name":"Norba.
