Tolstoy \"The Viper\" (1928). The purpose of the study is to reveal the features of the chronotope of the boundary of the work. The scientific novelty of this work lies in the fact that despite the focus on the story, which was explored through the heroic events of the civil war and hagiographic elements, there were aspects that were not fully explored from a gender perspective and through the theme of love. In particular, the authors have identified for the first time the types of chronotope boundaries in this work. The results showed that chronotopic values of various degrees and volumes, such as existential, social, personal and gender boundaries, become the most striking and important. The heroine of the story overcomes these thresholds, going through the initiation process and making sacrifices associated with the loss of home, parents, love, freedom, self-identity, human essence. The writer identifies the opposition of the \"I\" – \"Other\", associating it with the opposition of the human – animal and demonstrating the dominance of the second principle at a crucial moment for the country of the destruction of the old order and the formation of a new one. The main functions of the chronotope of the boundaries of this work are plot-forming, spatial, psychological and integrating.","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology. The scientific novelty of the study is that the article for the first time considers the components of the SOLDIER concept in Russian, as well as Chinese linguistic worldviews at the linguistic and cultural level in a comparative aspect. Within the framework of this study, an etymological analysis of the SOLDIER concept was carried out, its core zone was distinguished on the basis of studied dictionary entries of Russian and Chinese languages, the periphery was determined by analyzing stable expressions, phraseological locutions, proverbs, sayings, extracts of literature and the mass media. In the course of the study, it was possible to establish that the core zones of the SOLDIER concept almost completely coincide in the Russian and Chinese linguistic worldviews, the difference can be traced in the peripheral zone. It was revealed that for the Russian people the image of a SOLDIER is associated with bravery, dedication, courage, protection, for the Chinese, the image is associated not only with courage, but also with sacrifice, as well as with cooperation. The results made it possible to reveal a great degree of similarity between the Russian and Chinese linguistic worldviews in the field of the SOLDIER concept.","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology. I. Kuprin (works of 1889-1896). The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time a detailed sequential analysis of the precedents of musical citation and references to musical sources is given, their role in the narrative structure is analyzed. The identification and analysis of cases of verbal representation of musical works in Kuprin's texts gives an idea of the writer's search and formation of his own unique artistic handwriting. The significance of this research is generally associated with the little-studied phenomenon of the game poetics of Kuprin's early prose, especially the earliest stories, which for a long time were considered as learnedly immature, therefore not deserving any serious literary attention. As a result of the study, it was shown that the innovation of the young Kuprin consisted in a bold experimental attempt to combine fiction with related art forms, for example, musical opera, romance, to create precedents for \"musical citation\" as a complex genre symbiosis. Such syncretism is explained by the desire of the young writer to develop his \"corporate\" style by creating centonic texts in which musical allusions and quotations take on the role of a complex language of allegory and form new semantic connections. Musical ecphrasis in the analyzed works serves as a tool for encoding meanings, sets the axial points of the unfolding of the plot, programs the fate of the characters, motivates their behavior.","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology. S. Gumilev through the prism of affirming and clarifying the aesthetics of acmeism and the dynamics of the poet's axiology and ontology. The scientific novelty of this research lies in two main aspects: firstly, we identify the image of Don Juan in N. S. Gumilev's work and place it in the context of various interpretations of the eternal image; secondly, we apply the methodology of level analysis of a poem, which was proposed by Gumilev himself in his article \"Anatomy of a Poem,\" to our interpretation of the eternal image in the sonnet \"Don Juan.\" This approach serves as a starting point for further readings of the image in other forms of literature, such as lyrics, drama (in the case of \"Don Juan in Egypt\"), and journalism (as seen in \"The Reader\"). The mythological genesis of the image of Don Juan actualizes the diachronic decoding of archaic meanings in the interpretation of N. S. Gumilev, which are harmoniously embedded in the architecture of the classical sonnet. At the same time, Don Juan, in accordance with the role concept of the collection \"Pearls\", acts as one of the hypostases of a person in general, which dictates the need for an ethical assessment of the hero's life path. As a result of the study, it was found that the grammatical structure and poetic language of the sonnet \"Don Juan\" form the concept of an image polemically opposed to both the romantic rehabilitation of Don Juan and his acmeistic interpretation in the one-act drama in verse \"Don Juan in Egypt\".","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology. The focus is on problematic aspects and contradictions related to the manifestation of the nine factors of language viability proposed by UNESCO. This is the first attempt to perform the assessment based on these factors. As a result, a number of tendencies working in opposite directions were demonstrated: increased status, successful implementation of standards, wide use in computer and Internet technologies vs huge dialect variance and the possibility of attrition of the mother language and the native dialect; long history of the writing system vs its dialect and even individual variance accompanied by complicated relations between orthography and phonology. High dialect fragmentation was found to result in variance of phonemic models of words including differences in vowels, consonants and the number of phonemes in one word used in different dialects. Phonetic data on the Alsatian dialect are practically not presented, which makes it imperative to accumulate and systematize acoustic information on this dialect.","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology. The article undertakes a versatile approach to the phenomenon of seemingness viewed from different angles, namely, a logic-philosophical, psychological and linguistic ones. Linguistic criteria identifying the category of seemingness have been clarified. Scientific originality of the research lies in describing the peculiarities of the category of seemingness as represented in H. G. Wells’s novel. The research findings reveal a diversity of lexico-syntactic denominations of seemingness constituting the corresponding semantic field thus forming its centre or periphery. The modus of seemingness embraces various types of perception, those of a visual, aural, tactile, olfactory and kinaesthetic ones. The results of the research indicate that seemingness in the novel tends to interact with the category of evaluation. As the study shows, the modus of seemingness in the novel is inseparable from the first-person narration describing the incredible events in the world of fantastic future as seemingly indefinite, unverified and illusory.","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time it examines the issues of connoted figurative designation of current realities in German-speaking countries through zoonyms in order to manipulate mass consciousness. The results showed that the main ways of figurative designation of realities when setting a manipulative goal are the correlation of a known zoonym with a new referent and the creation of new figurative zoonyms through word formation. Nominations implicitly comparing humans with animals have a manipulative character. In the German-speaking cultural sphere between 2020 and 2024, zoomorphisms and zoonym-symbols play a crucial role in shaping the meaning of words for manipulative purposes. These figurative human designations and symbolic animal names have a special significance in conveying messages and influencing people. The animalistic language code is characterized by linguistic and cultural peculiarities of its manipulation, which is associated with the norms of behavior in force during the epidemiological and environmental crisis.","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology. Constantine. The research novelty consists in the fact that the following linguistic means of expressing myth- creating as a method of artistic cognition have been established: metaphors; augmented allusion, based on cultural and historical precedents that receive new characteristics; stylistic eclecticism and impersonal myth, in which the author hints at well-known images with the help of recognizable characteristics of the characters, without naming the heroes. As a result, myth-creating is defined as a special cognitive practice that has a unique linguistic expression, which consists in the use of author's linguistic means as well as an innovative mixture of styles that allows you to fit a classic myth into a modern context and gives it a new artistic meaning.","PeriodicalId":508324,"journal":{"name":"Philology.
