Material and Methods: A cohort of 194 children were enrolled in the study. They were divided into four groups by sex and age. Each group were divided by ethnicity into three subgroups: Bulgarian, Turkish and Roma origins. The regression equations introduced by Heath and Carter were used to determine the somatotype components. Results: The somatotype of Bulgarian and Roma boys aged 11-12 years was defined as mesomorph-endomorph, while the somatotype of Turkish boys was determined as central. The somatotype of boys aged 13-14 years was defined as follows: Bulgarian boys- balanced endomorph, Turkish boys- endomorph-ectomorph and Roma boys with central somatotype. The mean somatotype of Bulgarian girls aged 11-12 years was defined as ectomorphic an endomorph, while the somatotype of both Turkish and Roma girls was defined a mesomorphic endomorph. Similar results were found analyzing the mean somatotype of girls aged 13-14 years. Conclusion: The period of puberty has a very important impact on the development of the human body. The mean somatotype of Bulgarian boys aged 11-12 years has changed from mesomorph-endomorph to balanced endomorph. The mean somatotype of Turkish boys aged 11-12 has changed from central to endomorph-ectomorph. The mean somatotype of Roma boys aged 11-12 has changed from mesomorph-endomorph to central. The mean somatotype of Bulgarian girls was ectomorphic endomorphic; for Turkish and Roma girls it was mesomorphic endomorphic for both age group.","PeriodicalId":508168,"journal":{"name":"Journal of IMAB - Annual Proceeding (Scientific Papers)","volume":"148 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140448440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: An ecological epidemiological study was conducted. The 28 regions in Bulgaria were compared according to death rates due to COVID-19, the share of people 65+, availability of physicians, hospital beds for active and intensive care per 10,000 people, and the average annual salary of employed people /2021/. Data were statistically processed with SPSS v.26, the Pearson coefficient was used. Results: The death rates due to COVID-19 in Bulgaria vary widely, and the regions with the highest rates in 2021 are Kyustendil /642.440/0000/, Vidin /591.150/0000/, Montana /533.980/0000/, Gabrovo /533.480/0000/ and Vratsa /531.900/0000/. All five regions have ageing rates higher than the national average of the availability of physicians per population - lower than the average, respectively 36.60/0000, 35.50/0000, 34.90/0000, 37.60/0000 and 38.10/0000. Among the areas with high levels of death rates, Vidin stands out with very low availability of hospital beds for active and intensive treatment - 37.80/0000, but Gabrovo and Montana have higher. A moderate correlation was found between the death rate due to COVID-19 and the ageing of the population, but for other factors, no correlation was established. Conclusions: Reducing regional health inequalities in Bulgaria is one of the possible ways to control and reduce the death rate in the country, especially due to COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":508168,"journal":{"name":"Journal of IMAB - Annual Proceeding (Scientific Papers)","volume":"43 35","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139962025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material/Methods: 30 patients with a bimalleolar fracture in the subacute postoperative period were studied, divided as follows: control group (CG) - 15 patients and experimental group (EG) - 15 patients. In CG, a traditional model of kinesitherapy is applied, and in EG, an experimental model is applied, which includes twice a week and Ergon Technique. To monitor changes in proprioception, a test was conducted: a balanced stance on the injured leg on a hard and flat surface was performed, and the time the patient maintained balance (in seconds) was recorded. Results: The mean values (±SD) after one month of kinesitherapy application are as follows: in the control group 0,9333+0,88 sec. and 3,0 sec. in the experimental group. After three months of treatment, the results are as follows: in the control group, 3,93+2,49 sec. And 9,2+4,19 sec. in the experimental group. The values of P show that the established difference in the mean values of the indicator in the two groups after three months of kinesitherapy is statistically significant and proves a higher efficiency of the experimental model compared to the traditional one applied in the control group at P<0.05. Conclusion: In the conducted study, we found that there were statistically significant differences in both groups. Three samples of subgingival biofilm are taken per patient: 1st sample - at the first visit; 2nd sample - two weeks later; 3rd the sample - one month later. Five teeth per child are selected from which a sample is taken for PCR testing for 9 control strains of subgingival microorganisms (A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, T. denticola, T. forsythia, P. intermedia, P. micros, F. nuleatum, E. nodatum, C. gingivalis). Results: C. gingivalis (green complex) is isolated in all examined children before the start of treatment and is indispensably observed in microbial associations with P. intermedia (orange complex). In other cases, associations with 7-8 microorganisms are observed and in a more complex composition. Ovcharova, Emil Simeonov","doi":"10.5272/jimab.2024301.5346","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5272/jimab.2024301.5346","url":null,"abstract":"Background: Neuralgic amyotrophy (NA) is a rare disorder typically characterized by an abrupt onset of upper extremity pain followed by progressive muscle weakness, atrophy and occasional sensory loss. Although NA has been hypothesized to be an autoimmune-mediated disorder. It is considered a primarily clinical diagnosis, electrodiagnostic evaluation is essential for the diagnosis confirmation and can exclude other etiologies. Electrodiagnostic findings can reveal patchy damage to any nerve within the brachial plexus. Case Description: In the current case report, we are presenting a 43-years-old man admitted to the Neurology Department of “UMHAT Dr. Georgi Stranski” in Pleven, Bulgaria, with decreased muscle strength and limited active movements in the left upper shoulder for approximately 3 weeks. The patient denied feeling any pain during the onset and afterwards. He had no previous infections, vaccinations and history of other diseases. The detailed neurological examination showed the left upper extremity decreased antigravity strength in the deltoid and infraspinatus muscles with marked atrophy of the same. Hyporeflexia of the left biceps and brachioradialis deep‐tendon reflexes was present. Electromyography findings showed denervation of the deltoid and infraspinatus muscles. Initial reinnervation of supraspinatus and cervical paraspinal muscles was present. The diagnosis of NA was confirmed by both the neurological examination and the electrophysiological findings. Conclusion: We are presenting a clinical case of idiopathic neuralgic amyotrophy with atypical painless presentation and discussing the most significant aspects of the disorder with regards to the difficulties in approaching the correct diagnosis.
