Material and methods: Cross-sectional epidemiological study was conducted for the period November-December 2022. A sociological method of data collection (interview) was used, and a questionnaire was developed for this purpose. Nasopharyngeal swab was taken from the students and RT-PCR analysis of SARS-CoV-2 was performed. Results: An interview was conducted with 200 students from various specialties at Medical University-Pleven. Clinical symptoms were reported by 24 (12%) of respondents, the leading ones being runny nose and cough; with comorbid conditions were 10 participants (5%) with predominant chronic lung diseases. Three students reported contact with coronavirus-positive patients. Six of the participants had travelled abroad in the past 14 days. Eighty-four students (42%) were immunized: 25 with one dose, 43 with two doses and 16 with three doses. Only two tested samples (1%) were positive for SARS-CoV-2. Materials and methods: The subject of the study were 34 children with plaque-induced gingivitis. Three samples of subgingival biofilm are taken per patient: 1st sample - at the first visit; 2nd sample - two weeks later; 3rd the sample - one month later. Five teeth per child are selected from which a sample is taken for PCR testing for 9 control strains of subgingival microorganisms (A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, T. denticola, T. forsythia, P. intermedia, P. micros, F. nuleatum, E. nodatum, C. gingivalis). Results: C. gingivalis (green complex) is isolated in all examined children before the start of treatment and is indispensably observed in microbial associations with P. intermedia (orange complex). In other cases, associations with 7-8 microorganisms are observed and in a more complex composition. One month after the start of treatment, no periodontopathogens or only C. gingivallis as a single microorganism was is isolated in more than 55% of the samples examined. Microbial associations are predominantly 2 to 4 microorganisms.","PeriodicalId":508168,"journal":{"name":"Journal of IMAB - Annual Proceeding (Scientific Papers)","volume":" 49","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139793228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although NA has been hypothesized to be an autoimmune-mediated disorder. It is considered a primarily clinical diagnosis, electrodiagnostic evaluation is essential for the diagnosis confirmation and can exclude other etiologies. Electrodiagnostic findings can reveal patchy damage to any nerve within the brachial plexus. Case Description: In the current case report, we are presenting a 43-years-old man admitted to the Neurology Department of “UMHAT Dr. Georgi Stranski” in Pleven, Bulgaria, with decreased muscle strength and limited active movements in the left upper shoulder for approximately 3 weeks. The patient denied feeling any pain during the onset and afterwards. He had no previous infections, vaccinations and history of other diseases. The detailed neurological examination showed the left upper extremity decreased antigravity strength in the deltoid and infraspinatus muscles with marked atrophy of the same. Hyporeflexia of the left biceps and brachioradialis deep‐tendon reflexes was present. Electromyography findings showed denervation of the deltoid and infraspinatus muscles. Initial reinnervation of supraspinatus and cervical paraspinal muscles was present. The diagnosis of NA was confirmed by both the neurological examination and the electrophysiological findings. Conclusion: We are presenting a clinical case of idiopathic neuralgic amyotrophy with atypical painless presentation and discussing the most significant aspects of the disorder with regards to the difficulties in approaching the correct diagnosis. A better understanding of the NA clinical symptoms and signs variability improves the diagnostic and therapeutic approach.","PeriodicalId":508168,"journal":{"name":"Journal of IMAB - Annual Proceeding (Scientific Papers)","volume":"53 s185","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139794121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increased length of stay in the provision of emergency medical care can contribute to systemic problems in the provision of efficient and high-quality medical care. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between the duration of the examination in the emergency department and some characteristics of the patients. Material and Methods: A retrospective study of patients admitted to the Emergency Department of St. Marina University Hospital – Varna, Bulgaria, over a 5-year period was conducted. Data were collected from the hospital information system. Results: 272,390 patients who passed through the emergency department were examined. The increase in the flow of patients from other areas is, on average 3.07 times. The majority of patients are adults from other areas who are self-directed. The average duration of the visit was 45.7 minutes.The average duration of visits increases in the morning and then decreases until midnight, when we observe an approximately 30-minute jump in the average duration. There was a significant difference in the average duration of the visit to the emergency department according to the days of the week, ethnicity, age and sex of the patients, as well as according to the reason for the visit. Conclusion: Our results show that the average duration of the visit varies considerably according to the time of admission and the day of the week, the volume of patient care, the characteristics of the patient and the characteristics of the hospital. The length of stay correlates directly with the patient's age, severity of sex, gender and ethnicity.","PeriodicalId":508168,"journal":{"name":"Journal of IMAB - Annual Proceeding (Scientific Papers)","volume":"21 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139600298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the implantation of ectopic endometrial tissue outside of the uterine cavity, angiogenesis is an essential prerequisite for the progression of the disease. The purpose is to provide insight and a better understanding of the role that angiogenetic factors play within endometriosis and how this can translate into more effective diagnostic and therapeutic approaches taken by medical specialists when treating this disease. Materials and methods: We conducted a review of the available scientific literature on PubMed, Google Scholar and Science Direct, which included randomized controlled trials, observational studies, prospective controlled studies and case reports. Results and Discussion: Our review of the scientific literature showed that the role of angiogenesis upon the development of endometrial ectopic tissue is very significant, and a positive relationship is established with an increase in neo-angiogenesis and a quicker rate of development of ectopic endometrial tissue. We also found data indicating that there are a multitude of angiogenetic and anti-angiogenetic factors functioning in a homeostatic manner to provide an optimal environment for the endometrial tissue to proliferate and for translocation for the implantation of the ectopic tissue within different locations both within the uterine cavity and distant anatomical locations and regions located outside of the uterine cavity. Conclusion: Recently, the research surrounding the process of angiogenesis is positive and positive correlations have been established between the role of angiogenesis and the extent to which the ectopic endometrial tissue proliferates.","PeriodicalId":508168,"journal":{"name":"Journal of IMAB - Annual Proceeding (Scientific Papers)","volume":"110 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139605719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
