Paraules clau: Curial e Güelfa, català antic, selecció de l’auxiliar, construccions impersonals relatives, datiu experimentadorAbstract: One of the characteristics of Old Catalan that has not been preserved, except for some dialectal remains, is double auxiliary of perfect tenses, which were built with haver ‘have’ or ésser ‘be’ (e.g. ha parlat vs. és arribat). Haver occurred in transitive and agentive intransitive constructions, while ésser was used in statives, eventives, resultatives of change of state and change of location, pronominal intransitives, direct reflexives and passives. Although the substitution of ésser for haver is a process developed mainly during Modern Age and culminated in contemporary times, signs of it can already be detected in Medieval Catalan. In this paper, starting from the extraction and classification of perfects in Curial e Güelfa, we identify the samples in which haver occurs instead of ésser, we analyze the factors that may have favored it and we relate them to the entry routes of haver indicated in previous works. We conclude that Curial e Güelfa firmly maintains double auxiliary, innovation being practically restricted to the relative impersonal constructions with romandre ‘remain’, sobrar ‘be left over’, venir ‘come’, esdevenir ‘become’ and succeir ‘happen’, which contain a dative experiencer as a logical subject. Keywords: Curial e Güelfa, Old Catalan, auxiliary selection, relative impersonal constructions, dative experiencer","PeriodicalId":507012,"journal":{"name":"SCRIPTA. It also analyses their observations and linguistic perceptions of the Catalan language, as well as the language spoken by the inhabitants of these territories. Regarding the second objective, we are particularly interested in knowing if they recognise that the language spoken by Valencians is the same as that of the Catalans, Majorcans, and other neighbours of the Catalan-speaking world; what position occupy the Catalan language among the rest of the Romance languages; if they consider that Catalan has the same status as Spanish and French or if they considered it was a dialect. In many cases they do not talk about the language in such detail because the purpose of their travels was different, but often from their different descriptions and statements we can deduce their positions and opinions to answer these questions. Palabras clave: Ética y política renacentista, Juan Luis Vives, Erasmo de Róterdam, Humanismo, pensamiento cristianoAbstract: The Delphic maxim “know thyself” has permeated ethical and political theories since antiquity. From the 15th century onwards, this is particularly evident in Renaissance Europe. This paper analyses the Christianisation of the maxim in authors such as Basil the Great, Hugh of St Victor, and Bernard of Clairvaux, after briefly explaining its meaning in the classical world. This process leads to an anthropology based on the idea that to know oneself is to know how to situate oneself in present and eschatological realities. These are the foundations used by Giannozzo Manetti, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, and Marsilio Ficino to justify human dignity based on the notion of conscience. All these are the antecedents that led Juan Luis Vives or Erasmus of Rotterdam to affirm that authentic wisdom should combine knowledge of oneself and knowledge of God. Then, modern ethics and politics were born by giving a linguistic twist to the Delphic principle by identifying self-knowledge with correctness in the use of language. Keywords: Renaissance Ethics and Politics, Juan Luis Vives, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Humanism, Christian Thought","PeriodicalId":507012,"journal":{"name":"SCRIPTA.
