It takes time and effort to adopt Clean and Healthy Living Behaviours (henceforth PHBS) for everyone as individuals interact and affect one another within their order of living. This research aims to determine the Islamic education approach to promote PHBS in Muslim communities living on the coast in Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia. Additionally, this research seeks to identify factors impacting religious beliefs and adopting these practices. This study employs a descriptive qualitative methodology. The research findings show that an Islamic education approach can be instilled to promote PHBS in coastal Muslim communities. The influence of the Islamic education approach that always appears in the lives of coastal Muslim communities to improve public health: first, significant others (influential people); second, social environment; third, culture; fourth, social structure; and fifth, belief system; sixth, economic conditions; and seventh, Islamic education. The driving factor is the behaviour of Posyandu (Integrated Healthcare Center) cadres, sub-district employees, religious leaders and community health centre officers who are essential. The obstacle factors in fostering PHBS are the availability of rubbish bins and the need for more awareness among the public about disposing of rubbish in its proper place, so they throw rubbish in drainage channels and the sea, and some people burn it. Waste causes air pollution, a social economy, low public education and a low understanding of the value of Islamic teaching.","PeriodicalId":502776,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Science and Human Research","volume":"8 4p2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140230625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To combat deforestation, countries go beyond international conventions to institutionalize domestic frameworks to regulate illegal timber logging. However, the implementation of regulatory policies has been ineffective in countries like Nigeria. Situated within this problem, this study identified some domestic constraints affecting the effectiveness of timber logging regulation in Nigeria. To this end, data was collected from respondents using structured questionnaires. The data were analysed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMC) at a 0.05 level of significance. Constraints identified are corruption, insufficient legal framework, lack of coordination in regulation enforcement, inadequate staff, and the state monopoly of forest ownership.","PeriodicalId":502776,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Science and Human Research","volume":"28 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140229778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines the emergence of the most influential terrorist movements, their treatment, and their relationship with the state. By scrutinising the reasons behind the emergence of terrorist movements, this research also discusses strategies to prevent and dismantle them. A critical aspect to note is that many terrorist movements originated within state prisons, underscoring the state's failure to prevent terrorism and inadvertently contributing to its proliferation within society. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for developing effective counterterrorism policies and addressing the root causes of terrorism. It also highlights techniques such as decapitation and negotiation, as well as providing emancipation for moderate Islamic movements to play a role and represent the image of Islam. Additionally, terrorist movements often promote their ideology through emotional propaganda to recruit Islamic youths, many of whom come from moderate Islamic movements like the Muslim Brotherhood.","PeriodicalId":502776,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Science and Human Research","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140229098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research uses a descriptive-comparative design and three questionnaires. The majority of students are 17 years old or more, with a higher percentage of females. The study found no significant difference in student respondents' assessments of how their teachers deliver the comprehensive college health education program in terms of mental and emotional well-being. However, there was a significant difference in assessment when considering the course, with students pursuing education having a higher mean score and liberal arts students having a lower mean score. Teacher respondents, all full-pledge master's degree holders, had a high mean of 3.60 in terms of mental well-being, indicating that students have learned essential skills through self-reflection and emotional expression. Both male and female teachers have the same evaluation of their students' mental and emotional well-being in relation to the comprehensive college health education program.","PeriodicalId":502776,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Science and Human Research","volume":"42 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140229003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims to reveal the commodification of workers in Tempo Magazine and fill the unique gaps in previous research. The paradigm used is critical because the researcher wants to show that Tempo Magazine journalists are considered commodities measured based on economic factors. Journalists are willing to exchange their labor and even spend time on holidays to meet sources for low wages. The data collection technique is carried out through observation; namely, the researcher observes the research object by classifying and combining articles in Tempo Magazine. Researchers also interviewed the Editor-in-Chief of Tempo Magazine, Tempo Magazine journalists, and eight former Tempo Magazine journalists as critical informants to see different sides of Tempo. The research results show that Tempo Magazine journalists do not apply a specific working time pattern when covering an issue. It is not uncommon for them to use their holiday time to meet sources. They are trapped in false consciousness and do not understand their exploitation by assuming that when they succeed in getting a source, it is a matter of prestige and will always be remembered. They also work more than regular hours but do not receive overtime pay or other compensation. In addition, photo works produced by journalists do not receive copyright protection. Tempo sold it without permission, and this is a copyright issue and protection of intellectual property rights in the media industry. The use or sale of images without permission can harm the creator financially and violate rights that should be protected. Journalists, as a profession that focuses on providing information, often support the human rights of others. However, they also face challenges and risks related to their human rights in their duties. Thus, this study confirms that worker commodification is for workers who are re-produced or renewed through exploitation processes such as increasing working time or intensifying the work process.","PeriodicalId":502776,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Science and Human Research","volume":"43 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140228974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study adopted a case study design and recruited 32 undergraduate students from the Department of Applied Foreign Languages at a university in central Taiwan. The online peer learning program improved students’ English communication skills and reduced students’ learning anxiety by facilitating interactions with online foreign peers. Quantitative data from oral proficiency tests and the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale were collected before and after the online peer learning program. Qualitative data were analyzed and coded to determine students’ perceptions of the online peer learning program. A significant improvement in the students’ oral proficiency was observed in the pretest and posttest scores. However, no significant reduction in overall speaking anxiety levels was noted, although the students reported a noticeable decrease in anxiety levels following the intervention, particularly when they talked about general or familiar topics. The results of this study demonstrate that the online peer learning program effectively enhanced the speaking proficiency of students of English as a foreign language and moderately alleviated their learning anxiety. On the basis of these findings, this study provides suggestions for foreign language teachers.","PeriodicalId":502776,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Science and Human Research","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140230437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives of this historical-described and documentary research are inherent to the three established objectives, resulting from our hermeneutic approach to his written work: analyzing the texts hermeneutically and in terms of organizing their content; interpret some content ‘evidence’ from a (socio)pedagogical and social pedagogy perspective; analyze, based on father Oliveira's thinking, the protection and re-education of childhood, with reference to the Child Protection Law, of May 27, 1911, which initiated the guardianship rights of minors in Portugal until the end of the last century. In conclusive terms, we will summarize a set of ideas, which should be included in the History of Education and/or Social History of Portuguese Childhood, in this celebration and fair tribute to this social pedagogue.","PeriodicalId":502776,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Science and Human Research","volume":"54 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140237198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study explored the experiences of reading remediation teachers and Grade 7 non-readers with the START Program in one public high school in Bacolod City. Conversational interviews were conducted with five teachers and five student participants involved in the program. Clarke and Braun’s Thematic Analysis Method was used to determine the themes. Reliability and validity were accomplished through audio recording, triangulation, bracketing, and member checking. Results identified three major themes related to the teachers’ experiences: the challenges, coping strategies, and insights gained from the experience. Three major themes were also identified from the non-readers’ experiences, including the positive learning environment, the hurdles, and overcoming the barriers. Findings reveal that the START program was a challenging yet fulfilling undertaking for reading remediation teachers, and the START program was an enjoyable and helpful reading activity for students. Reading remediation teachers should consider adopting Project Reach & Teach to enhance the START program, address the needs better, and deliver meaningful reading remediation to non-readers.","PeriodicalId":502776,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Science and Human Research","volume":"67 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140238197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
