This is the case in the galaxy cluster Abell 370. Using\u0000strong lensing techniques, it has been described parametrically by a four dark\u0000matter clumps model and galaxy scale perturbers, as well as a significant\u0000external shear component, which physical origin remains a challenge. The dark\u0000matter distribution features a mass clump with no stellar counterpart and a\u0000significant offset between one of the dark matter clumps and its associated\u0000stellar counterpart. In this paper, based on BUFFALO data, we begin by\u0000revisiting this mass model. We find a four dark matter clumps solution which\u0000does not require any external shear and provides a slightly better RMS compared\u0000to previous models. Investigating further this new solution, we present a class\u0000of models which can accurately reproduce the strong lensing data, but whose\u0000parameters for the dark matter component are poorly constrained. We then\u0000develop a model where each large scale dark matter component must be associated\u0000with a stellar counterpart. This model is unable to reproduce the observational\u0000constraints with an RMS smaller than 2.3", and the parameters describing this\u0000dark matter component remain poorly constrained. Examining the total projected\u0000mass maps, we find a good agreement between the total mass and the stellar\u0000distribution, both being bimodal. We interpret the "misleading features" of the\u0000four dark matter clumps mass model and the failure of the three dark matter\u0000clumps mass model as being symptomatic of the lack of realism of a parametric\u0000description of the dark matter distribution, and encourage caution and\u0000criticism on the outputs of parametric strong lensing modelling. We briefly\u0000discuss the implications of our results for using Abell 370 as a gravitational\u0000telescope.

Gravitational microlensing is a very well-suited tool to detect and\u0000measure the abundance of compact objects in galaxies. Previous studies based on\u0000quasar microlensing exclude a significant presence of substellar to\u0000intermediate-mass BHs ($lesssim 100,mathrm{M}_odot$). However, these\u0000studies were based on a spatially uniform distribution of BHs while, according\u0000to current theories of PBHs formation, they are expected to appear in clusters.\u0000We study the impact of clustering in microlensing flux magnification finding\u0000that at large scales clusters act like giant pseudo-particles, strongly\u0000affecting the emission coming from the Broad Line Region, which can no longer\u0000be used to define the zero microlensing baseline. As an alternative, we set\u0000this baseline from the intrinsic magnification ratios of quasar images\u0000predicted by macro lens models and compare them with the observed flux ratios\u0000in emission lines, infrared (IR), and radio. The (magnitude) differences are\u0000the flux-ratio anomalies attributable to microlensing, which we estimate for 35\u0000image pairs corresponding to 12 lens systems. A Bayesian analysis indicates\u0000that the observed anomalies are incompatible with the existence of a\u0000significant population of clustered PBHs. Furthermore, we find that more\u0000compact clusters exhibit a stronger microlensing impact. Consequently, we\u0000conclude that clustering makes the existence of a significant population of BHs\u0000in the substellar to intermediate mass range even more unlikely.

Analyzing the galaxy catalogs from the IllustrisTNG 300-1\u0000simulations, we first compute the primordial spin factor, $tau$, defined as\u0000the mean degree of misalignments between the principal axes of the initial\u0000density and potential hessian tensors at the protogalactic sites. Then, we\u0000explore in the framework of Shannon's information theory if and how strongly\u0000each of six stellar properties of the present galaxies, namely the stellar\u0000sizes, ages, specific star formation rates, optical colors and metallicities,\u0000share mutual information with $tau$, measured at $z=127$. The TNG galaxy\u0000samples are deliberately controlled to have no differences in the mass,\u0000environmental density and shear distributions and to single out net effects of\u0000$tau$ on each of the galaxy stellar properties. In the higher stellar mass\u0000range of $M_{star}/(h^{-1},M_{odot})ge 10^{10}$, significant amounts of\u0000mutual information with $tau$ are exhibited by all of the six stellar\u0000properties, while in the lower range of $M_{star}/(h^{-1},M_{odot})<\u000010^{10}$ only four of the six properties except for the specific star formation\u0000rates and colors yield significant signals of $tau$-dependence. It is also\u0000shown that the galaxy stellar sizes, which turn out to be most robustly\u0000dependent on $tau$ regardless of $M_{star}$, follow a {it bimodal} Gamma\u0000distribution, the physical implication of which is discussed.

Decomposing stacks\u0000into cosine multipoles of order $m$, we detect a dipole ($m=1$) and quadrupole\u0000($m=2$) at $8-10sigma$, as well as evidence for $m=4$ signal at up to\u0000$6sigma$, indicating sensitivity to late-time non-Gaussianity. We compare to\u0000the Cardinal simulations with spherical gas models pasted onto dark matter\u0000halos. The fiducial tSZ data can discriminate between two models that deplete\u0000pressure differently in low-mass halos (mimicking astrophysical feedback),\u0000preferring higher average pressure in extended structures. In the tSZ-to-lensing relation, averaged on 7.5 Mpc (transverse) scales,\u0000we observe dependence on redshift but not shape or radial distance. We find 10 satellite candidates in the inner virial regions of 13\u0000star-forming galaxies outside the Local Group. The hosts are at distances\u0000between $sim 5-11$ Mpc and have stellar masses in the little explored range of\u0000$sim 5 times 10^8 - 5times 10^{10}~text{M}_{odot}$. Among the 10 satellite\u0000candidates, 3 are new discoveries in this survey. In this paper, we\u0000characterize the properties of 8 low-mass satellite candidates, including the 3\u0000new discoveries but excluding 2 well-studied massive satellites. Of the 8\u0000low-mass dwarfs, optical colors from the LBT imaging and measurements in the\u0000ultraviolet with GALEX suggest that 2 show signs of active star formation, and\u00006 are likely quenched (although some may still have Htextsc{i} gas\u0000reservoirs). Notably, we report the discovery of an ultrafaint dwarf candidate,\u0000NGC 672 dwD, with $text{M}_{text{V}} = -6.6$ and an estimated stellar mass of\u0000$5.6 times 10^4 ~text{M}_{odot}$ if its association with the host is\u0000confirmed. Despite numerous models, there is\u0000little observational evidence for this variation. While the speed of light can\u0000be accurately measured by physical means, cosmological methods are rarely used.\u0000Previous studies quantified the speed of light at specific redshifts using\u0000Gaussian processes and reconstructed the redshift-dependent function $c(z)$. It\u0000is crucial to quantify the speed of light across varying redshifts. We use the\u0000latest data on angular diameter distances $D_A(z)$ and Hubble parameters $H(z)$\u0000from baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) and cosmic chronometer measurements in\u0000the redshift interval $zin[0.07,1.965]$. The speed of light $c(z)$ is\u0000determined using Gaussian and deep Gaussian processes to reconstruct $H(z)$,\u0000$D_A(z)$, and $D^{prime}_A(z)$. Furthermore, we conduct comparisons across\u0000three distinct models, encompassing two renowned VSL models. We get the result\u0000of the parameters constraints in the models (1) for the ``$c$-c" model,\u0000$c_0=29492.6 pm^{6.2}_{5.3} mathrm{~km} mathrm{~s}^{-1}$. (2) For the\u0000``$c$-cl" model, $c_0=29665.5 pm^{11.2}_{11.4}mathrm{~km} mathrm{~s}^{-1}$\u0000and $n=0.05535 pm^{0.00008}_{0.00007}$. (3) For the ``$c$-CPL" model,\u0000$c_0=29555.7 pm^{13.3}_{13.2} mathrm{~km} mathrm{~s}^{-1}$ and $n=-0.0607\u0000pm 0.0001$. Based on our findings, it may be inferred that Barrow's classical\u0000VSL model is not a suitable fit for our data. In contrast, the widely\u0000recognized Chevallier-Polarski-Linder (CPL) VSL model, under some\u0000circumstances, as well as the universal ``c is constant" model, demonstrate a\u0000satisfactory ability to account for our findings.

Tailed radio galaxies are shaped by ram pressure owing to the\u0000high-velocity motion of their host through the intracluster medium (ICM).\u0000Recent works have reported on the increasing complexity of the phenomenology of\u0000tailed galaxies, with departures from theoretical ageing models and evidence of\u0000re-energising mechanisms, which are yet unclear. Aims. The nearby (z = 0.0894)\u0000galaxy cluster Abell 2142 hosts two tailed galaxies, namely T1 and T2, which\u0000exhibit peculiar morphological features. We aim to investigate the properties\u0000of T1 and T2 and constrain their spectral evolution, dynamics, and interactions\u0000with the ICM. Methods. We combined LOw Frequency Array (LOFAR), upgraded Giant\u0000Metrewave Radio Telescope (uGMRT), Very Large Array (VLA), and MeerKAT data\u0000(from 30 MHz to 6.5 GHz) to carry out a detailed spectral analysis of T1 and\u0000T2. We analysed surface brightness profiles, measured integrated and\u0000spatially-resolved spectral indices, and performed a comparison with single\u0000injection ageing models. Chandra X-ray data were used to search for\u0000discontinuities in the ICM properties in the direction of the targets. Results.\u0000The spectral properties of T1 at low frequencies are predicted by ageing\u0000models, and provide constraints on the 3D dynamics of the host by assuming a\u0000constant velocity. However, sharp transitions along sub-regions of the tail,\u0000local surface brightness enhancements, and a spectral shape at high frequencies\u0000that is not predicted by models suggest a more complex scenario, possibly\u0000involving hydrodynamical instabilities and particle mixing. T2 exhibits unusual\u0000morphological and surface brightness features, and its spectral behaviour is\u0000not predicted by standard models. Watson
This work focuses on the study of the AME, an important emission mechanism\u0000between 10 and 60 GHz whose polarization properties are not yet fully\u0000understood, and is therefore a potential contaminant for future CMB\u0000polarization observations. We use new QUIJOTE-MFI maps 11, 13, 17 and 19 GHz,\u0000together with other public ancillary data including WMAP and Planck, to study\u0000the polarization properties of the AME in three Galactic regions: rho-Ophiuchi,\u0000Perseus and W43. We have obtained the SEDs for those three regions over the frequency range\u00000.4-3000 GHz, both in intensity and polarization. The intensity SEDs are well\u0000described by a combination of free-free emission, thermal dust, AME and CMB\u0000anisotropies. In polarization, we extracted the flux densities using all\u0000available data between 11 and 353 GHz. We implemented an improved\u0000intensity-to-polarization leakage correction that has allowed for the first\u0000time to derive reliable polarization constraints well below the 1% level from\u0000Planck-LFI data. A frequency stacking of maps in the range 10-60 GHz has\u0000allowed us to reduce the statistical noise and to push the upper limits on the\u0000AME polarization level. We have obtained upper limits on the AME polarization fraction of order <1%\u0000(95% confidence level) for the three regions. In particular we get Pi_AME <\u00001.1% (at 28.4 GHz), Pi_AME < 1.1% (at 22.8 GHz) and Pi_AME < 0.28% (at 33 GHz)\u0000in rho-Ophiuchi, Perseus and W43 respectively. At the QUIJOTE 17 GHz frequency\u0000band, we get Pi_AME< 5.1% for rho-Ophiuchi, Pi_AME< 3.5% for Perseus and\u0000Pi_AME< 0.85% for W43. Our final upper limits derived using the stacking\u0000procedure are Pi_AME < 0.58% for rho-Ophiuchi, Pi_AME < 1.64% for Perseus and\u0000Pi_AME < 0.31% for W43. Altogether, these are the most stringent constraints to\u0000date on the AME polarization fraction of these three star-forming regions.

We extend this formalism to\u0000consistently model the weak lensing and thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich (tSZ) fields\u0000directly on the full-sky, with an emphasis on higher-order correlations. We use\u0000the auto- and cross- $N$th-order moments, with $N in {2, 3, 4}$, as a\u0000summary statistic of the lensing and tSZ fields, and show that our model can\u0000jointly fit these statistics measured in IllustrisTNG to within measurement\u0000uncertainties, for scales above $gtrsim 1 {rm Mpc}$ and across multiple\u0000redshifts. The model predictions change only minimally when including\u0000additional information from secondary halo properties, such as halo\u0000concentration and ellipticity. Each individual moment is dependent on halos of\u0000different mass ranges and has different sensitivities to the model parameters.\u0000A simulation-based forecast on the ULAGAM simulation suite shows that the\u0000combination of all moments, measured from current and upcoming lensing and tSZ\u0000surveys, can jointly constrain cosmology and baryons to high precision. The\u0000lensing and tSZ field are sensitive to different combinations of the\u0000baryonification parameters, with degeneracy directions that are often\u0000orthogonal, and the combination of the two fields leads to significantly better\u0000constraints on both cosmology and astrophysics. Our pipeline for map-level\u0000baryonification is publicly available at\u0000https://github.com/DhayaaAnbajagane/Baryonification.

To distinguish between cosmological models, it is essential to\u0000generate realistic mock observables from cosmological simulations that were run\u0000in both the standard $Lambda$-cold-dark-matter ($Lambda$CDM) paradigm and in\u0000many non-standard models beyond $Lambda$CDM. We present the scientific results\u0000from a suite of cosmological N-body simulations using non-standard models\u0000including dynamical dark energy, k-essence, interacting dark energy, modified\u0000gravity, massive neutrinos, and primordial non-Gaussianities. We investigate\u0000how these models affect the large-scale-structure formation and evolution in\u0000addition to providing synthetic observables that can be used to test and\u0000constrain these models with Euclid data. We developed a custom pipeline based\u0000on the Rockstar halo finder and the nbodykit large-scale structure toolkit to\u0000analyse the particle output of non-standard simulations and generate mock\u0000observables such as halo and void catalogues, mass density fields, and power\u0000spectra in a consistent way. We compare these observables with those from the\u0000standard $Lambda$CDM model and quantify the deviations. We find that\u0000non-standard cosmological models can leave significant imprints on the\u0000synthetic observables that we have generated. Our results demonstrate that\u0000non-standard cosmological N-body simulations provide valuable insights into the\u0000physics of dark energy and dark matter, which is essential to maximising the\u0000scientific return of Euclid.
