It is shown that an operation order rearrangement in the common projected gradient approach provides a complexity improvement. An even better algorithm complexity can be obtained by replacing the completion operator by a general operator that satisfies restricted isometry property; however, such a replacement transforms the completion algorithm into an approximation algorithm.","PeriodicalId":49585,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2024-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140560605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"数学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically optimal disturbances have been found for stationary solutions corresponding to various forms of the chronic course of the disease, including those corresponding to the regime of low-level virus persistence. The influence of small optimal disturbances of individual groups of variables on the stationary solution is studied. The possibility of transition from stable stationary solutions corresponding to chronic forms of hepatitis B to stable stationary solutions corresponding to the state of functional recovery or a healthy organism using optimal disturbances is studied. Optimal disturbances in this study were constructed on the basis of generalized therapeutic drugs characterized by one-compartment and two-compartment pharmacokinetics.","PeriodicalId":49585,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2024-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140560680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"数学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A result of [24] is improved by extending the domain of admissible values of the parameters which provide the representability of the (generalized) Burr distribution as a scale mixture of the Weibull distribution. This result gives an argument in favour of application of the Burr distribution as a model of statistical regularities of extreme values registered within moderate regular time intervals, say, daily (<jats:italic>short-term</jats:italic>) extremes. In turn, if we are interested in the statistical regularities of the behaviour of the absolute extreme observation over a long period, say, a decade (the <jats:italic>long-term</jats:italic> extreme), then it can be noted that the daily extreme values form a sample of the Burr-distributed random variables. As is known, the Burr distribution belongs to the domain of max-attraction of the Fréchet distribution. The problem of improving the accuracy of the approximation of the distribution of the absolute extreme by the Fréchet distribution by the construction of an asymptotic expansion for the distribution of the extreme order statistics in the sample of independent identically Burr-distributed random variables is also considered. These results are illustrated by an example of fitting the Burr distribution to the data representing the extreme values of characteristics of the interplanetary magnetic field.","PeriodicalId":49585,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2024-04-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140560679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"数学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It allows us to identify the seasonally dependent structure of temperature anomalies in the equatorial Pacific Ocean in the form of a dominant spatio-temporal pattern. We demonstrate the results of applying a tool to analysis of real data as well as climate simulations in two versions of the Institute of Numerical Mathematics ESM. We find that the latest version of the model, with improved parameterizations of clouds, large-scale condensation, and aerosols, provides significantly better reproduction of ENSO-related structure of anomalies, as well as the phase locking of ENSO to the annual cycle. We recommend to use the tool for diagnostic analysis of ESMs regarding simulation of climate phenomena with strong seasonality.","PeriodicalId":49585,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2024-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139756789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"数学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

General testing usually controls only total (final) error. Using the test problem, we analyze errors of a difference method of MacCormack type and the CIC method being the most popular version of the ‘particle-in-cell’ method. It is shown that the CIC method having also the second formal order of accuracy is seriously inferior to the difference method under the same given error and same grid parameters. In particular, the results of the particle method lose their sense after approximately one calculation period, although the time interval of confidence in simulation data for the difference method is practically unlimited. The testing method proposed here is suitable for an arbitrary one-dimensional version of the ‘particle-in-cell’ method, and it allows one not only to compare numerical implementations of individual stages with each other, but also to verify available theoretical results.","PeriodicalId":49585,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2024-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139756983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"数学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The combined use of methods for stochastic perturbation of trajectories and the parameters and tendencies of subgrid-scale processes parameterizations allows to generate ensembles with a larger spread compared to ensembles without stochastic perturbations of trajectories. An improvement in probabilistic estimates of the ensemble forecasts for various variables is shown. The comparison of two versions of ensemble prediction system is presented.","PeriodicalId":49585,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2024-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139756759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"数学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two different methods are proposed. The first one solves a two-dimensional boundary-value problem, using a buffer-domain technique to mimic the outflow boundary condition. The second one solves a streamwise initial-value problem, using a spectral parabolization at each integration step. Both methods show good performance in simulating the propagation of the Tollmien–Schlichting waves and the Görtler vortices and can be applied to compute the spatial optimal disturbances.","PeriodicalId":49585,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2024-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139756791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"数学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study we analyze how two fundamental features of observed ENSO – asymmetry between hot and cold states and phase-locking to the annual cycle – are reflected in two different versions of the INMCM Earth system model (state-of-the-art Earth system model participating in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project). We identify the above ENSO features using the conventional empirical orthogonal functions (EOF) analysis, which is applied to both observed and simulated upper ocean heat content (OHC) data in the tropical Pacific. We obtain that the observed tropical Pacific OHC variability is described well by two leading EOF-modes, which roughly reflect the fundamental recharge-discharge mechanism of ENSO. These modes exhibit strong seasonal cycles associated with ENSO phase locking while the revealed nonlinear dependencies between amplitudes of these cycles reflect ENSO asymmetry.We also assess and compare the predictability of observed and simulated ENSO based on linear inverse modelling. We find that the improved INMCM6 model has significant benefits in simulating described features of observed ENSO as compared with the previous INMCM5 model. The improvements of the INMCM6 model providing such benefits are discussed. We argue that proper cloud parameterization scheme is crucial for accurate simulation of ENSO dynamics with numerical climate models.","PeriodicalId":49585,"journal":{"name":"Russian Journal of Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2024-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139756795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"数学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
