Early detection of the disease plays an important role in preventing the development structural abnormalities and irreversible vision loss. Diagnosis of glaucoma is based on assessing the safety of optic nerve structures and visual functions results clinical examination of the optic disc and RNFL are subjective and vary greatly. In connection with this, research in recent years has been aimed at developing additional objective methods for diagnosing glaucoma. The possibility of using confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy, scanning laser perimetry and optical coherence tomography to assess the condition of the optic disc. In order to ensure early detection of visual field defects options are currently being considered replacing standard automated perimetry (SAP) with selective, which includes short-wavelength automated perimetry (SWAP) and perimetry with the illusion of spatial doubling frequencies (frequency-doubling technology perimetry, FDT). The article is an overview modern method for diagnosing glaucoma in the context of their use in clinical practice.","PeriodicalId":494509,"journal":{"name":"The American journal of medical sciences and pharmaceutical research","volume":"23 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140465535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Low back pain is a mechanical pain located in the lumbar region and gluteal fold, which may or may not generate stiffness and consequently reduced functionality. Lumbosciatalgia, on the other hand, is when this pain and discomfort radiates to the limb, to one or two buttocks and/or to the posterior region of the thigh. This study is a literature review, with searches in the following databases: PubMed, Lilacs and Scielo, using descriptors such as \"low back pain\", \"physical training\", \"strength training\" and \"low back pain\". Low back pain is one of the most common causes of disability in modern society, with a prevalence of 60-85%; it is the second leading cause of seeking medical attention.Strength training and core stability improves the balance and endurance of the lumbar muscles, as well as activating the deeper muscle groups, reinforcing the fixity of the spine and reducing the stimulation of pain receptors in the tissues. This is why free weight training with higher intensity loads, or not, provides wide-ranging benefits for prevention and improved quality of life due to significant reductions in pain, improved posture, flexibility and strength endurance.","PeriodicalId":494509,"journal":{"name":"The American journal of medical sciences and pharmaceutical research","volume":"199 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140480704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Effective patient care and public health policies need understanding COVID-19 mortality variables. This research examines how demographics, comorbidities, cytokine parameters, and hospitalization time affect COVID-19 mortality. The research retrospectively examined 100 Iraqi COVID-19 patients in 2021. Data from Medical City Hospital and Al-Kadhimiya Hospital were analyzed using SPSS and Excel. Study participants were of various ages and genders. The 2021 COVID-19 death rate was 22%, depending on age, gender, and comorbidities. Out of persons aged ≤30 (n=9), 22.2% died from the illness. In the 31-40 age range (n=24), 25.0% died. The 41-50 age group (n=15) had a 40.0% death rate. In the 51-60 age range (n=27), 25.9% died. The 61-70 age group (n=18) had a 5.6% death rate. No one over 70 (n=7) died. The age of patients, but not gender, are significantly associated with mortality. Among the parameters analyzed, ferritin, D-dimer, lymphocytes, and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) levels showed significant differences between the deceased and alive groups (p-value <0.05). Comorbidity analysis demonstrated that cardiovascular diseases, malignancy, kidney diseases, and bacterial infections were significantly associated with higher mortality rates in COVID-19 patients, while liver disease, diabetes mellitus (DM), and hypertension (HT) did not show significant associations. IL6, IL10, and IL12 cytokines levels differed significantly between died and surviving patients. Elevated levels of these interleukins were associated with increased mortality risk, while TNF-a levels showed no significant difference.","PeriodicalId":494509,"journal":{"name":"The American journal of medical sciences and pharmaceutical research","volume":"49 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140526849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regular practice generates gains in mental and physical health, so physically active people are more vigorous and willing to carry out their professional and daily activities, enhancing their interpersonal relationships. It is known that there is a low prevalence of healthy behaviors in relation to physical activity among health professionals. This is a literature review, added to a cross-sectional data collection through digital media with an anonymous form that does not require submission to the research ethics committee. The analysis of the data showed that 31.9% of the absolute population surveyed had some previous illness or was taking daily medication. Of these, 52.5% had psychiatric disorders, 20.7% respiratory diseases and 20.3% musculoskeletal diseases, which correlate directly with limiting factors for physical activity. The findings indicate that regular exercise is an ally in improving or maintaining various health indicators. For this reason, simple and inexpensive measures such as assessing the level of physical activity and monitoring these professionals reduces hospital absenteeism, increases personal performance and consequently improves the quality of the service provided to the population.","PeriodicalId":494509,"journal":{"name":"The American journal of medical sciences and pharmaceutical research","volume":"65 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138995362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its intensity and duration depends on several factors, mainly the type of surgical approach, surgical access and anatomy. Orthopaedic surgeries are considered one of the most painful, due to the intense nociceptive stimulation of the musculoskeletal tissue.The prevalence of post-operative pain is described in 73% of patients who experience moderate to severe pain on the first day after surgery. A lower prevalence is observed in developed countries, due to pain protocols, the presence of acute pain services and advanced general anesthesia techniques. Numerous protocols have been tested, and opioids are often the drugs of choice, but the events are considered the biggest drawback. Pain control can be achieved through the use of certain medications, the use of physical means and interventions related to cognitive behavior, such as educational techniques and relaxation. Even though it is difficult to treat pain, analgesic methods are essential to reduce the incidence of persistent pain, avoiding and alleviating future chronic pain conditions that are difficult to treat.","PeriodicalId":494509,"journal":{"name":"The American journal of medical sciences and pharmaceutical research","volume":"8 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135391078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
