Recently, it has been employed as an alternate technique for not only to eradicate numerous soil- and seed-borne diseases but also improves the field establishment and vigour. In the current study, an On-Farm Trial bhendi seeds were soaked with two biopriming treatments Viz., (i) 10% Pseudomonas fluorecens, (ii) 10% Trichoderma viridi, for 6 hours followed by shade drying and sown in farmers' fields during kharif, 2020. Untreated seeds served as the control. The findings showed that 10% Pseudomonas fluorescens outperformed than Trichoderma and untreated seed in terms of yield (172.5 q/ha), net return (Rs. 2,58,750/ha), and benefit-cost ratio (2.59), The 10% Trichoderma primed seeds, which was the next-best treatment, had high yields, net returns, and BCR values of 169.8q/ha, Rs. 2,54,700/ha, and 2.56 respectively. So, it was concluded that bioprimingof seeds with 10% Pseudomonas fluorescens for six hours increased the production of bhendi. The dissemination of extension activities like training and method demonstration increased the understanding of farmers about biopriming from 5.4 to 52.5 percent.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"226 1-2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136262099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Environmental changes are currently impacting and will continue to impact a variety of population groups differently. Unfortunately, this can increase the risk of developmental changes in humans. Climate change poses varying degrees of health risks, depending on people or groups' sensitivity, exposure, and ability to adapt. Populations with lower incomes, certain racial/immigrant groups, children, pregnant women, the elderly, professionals exposed to hazards, persons with disabilities, and those with pre-existing medical issues are particularly vulnerable. Rising environmental changes can increase weed and pest populations, necessitating herbicide and pesticide use, which may in turn lead to developmental changes in humans.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"2 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135217682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, one of the major concerns affecting its sustainability is climate change. One way to cope with climate change is to build resilience by identifying key areas that are most at risk, allowing for targeted interventions. With this objective, a study was conducted during the period 2019-2023, to assess the climate resilience of peri-urban agriculture in six agro-ecological units (AEUs) of Coastal plains, through the development of Climate Resilience Index (CRI). Data was collected through focus group discussions, personal and key informant interviews with farmers, and discussions with extension personnel. CRI was developed as the function of three dimensions- absorptive, adaptive, and transformative capacities, assessed in terms of 72 indicators. Absorptive and transformative capacities (0.592 and 0.568 respectively) contributed the most to the mean CRI of coastal plains (0.563). The major determinants contributing to better climate resilience of farmers included water sufficiency, lesser recovery time, better access to basic services, sustainable practices adopted, and other socio-economic and psychological characteristics. This research provides valuable information to enhance the resilience of per-urban agriculture considering the challenges of climate change.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"36 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135170446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It aids them in expanding their knowledge of various cultural customs, cutting-edge concepts, newly created technologies, and government policy initiatives. The objective of the present study was to determine respondents' levels of satisfaction and investigate the constraints perceived by the visitors of the Kisan Mela at Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi. Information’s were collected through a pre-tested, semi-structured interview schedule from 120 randomly selected respondents. The three-point continuum method was used to calculate the level of satisfaction, with the most satisfied, satisfied, and not satisfied categories, receiving scores of 3, 2, and 1, respectively. Ranking was done using the total weighted mean score (TWMS). Respondents were asked to share their opinions on various aspects of the constraints listed in order to analyze them. It was found that majority of respondents were most satisfied with location of venue, timing of events, orientation of different stalls and behaviour of different Kisan Mela organizing persons. However, overall the farmers were satisfied with Kisan Mela. About 54.17% Kisan Mela visitors, said that they were not faced any difficulty during Kisan Mela. The measure constraints perceived by the visitors were lack of drinking water facility (24.17%), high price of products/seeds (17.5%), non-availability of desire quality of seeds (10.0%) and routine work of agriculture is disturb (9.17%). Hence it was suggested that drinking water facility should be there in Kisan Mela, seeds/products should be available at low price and the presence of some food stalls in the Kisan Mela.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135616972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Financial inclusion is viewed as a tool for poverty reduction around the world, and it is now on the agenda of all policymakers in both rich and developing nations. The current study explores the amount of financial inclusion in various nations across the world to highlight the importance of financial inclusion and give insight into the level of financial inclusion globally. Using four metrics from the World Bank Global Findex database 2021, this study assesses the extent of financial inclusion in India, the G20, and SAARC nations. The findings show that India performed better than the global average in terms of account ownership, but it was in the bottom half of G20 nations in terms of account ownership, citizen borrowings, and savings. When compared to the G20 and SAARC countries, India had a very tiny average proportion of borrowings. Government payments in the case of G20 nations were the highest and this statistic was relatively lower in the case of India. A similar pattern was also observed in the case of savings by the citizens. Outcome of the study will go a long way in improving the quality of financial inclusion initiatives so that desirable ground level benefits are realized. Findings of the study will not only provide an assessment of the present situation but also provide vital clues for steering relevant and effective policy measures.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135730845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Social capital is an asset that is studied by observing interactions and the relationships prevailing in collective organizations. In this paper, we study the contribution of social capital which is a critical element in the effective progress of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
 Level of derived benefits is one of the five components of Social Capital of the FPOs. Forty actively functioning Farmer Producer Organizations in Southern districts of Tamil Nadu were taken for this study. The sub components of derived benefits include eliminating intermediaries, marketable produce, better price for produce, quality consciousness, declining migration, access to resources, advance payment facility, assured price, livelihood improvement and provision of enhanced advisory (These are the 10 criteria under which the level of derived benefits was studied). Mean scores and percentage analysis were calculated to examine the contribution of each subcomponent in the sample of organizations. The results indicate that the components of Social Capital such as marketable produce, better prices for produce, quality consciousness, declining migration, access to resources, assured price, livelihood improvement, and provision of enhanced advice have been gained by more than half of the FPOs. Areas like eliminating intermediaries and advance payment facilities should be focused more on increasing social capital which in turn increases the performance of the organizations.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135992660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the productivity of tasar cocoons in the state is hovering around average of 2000-4000 cocoons/100 Dfls (Disease Free layings) throughout the year against the norm of 6000 cocoons which might be due to the non-adoption or low adoption of improved tasar rearing technologies by the tasar silkworm rearers. Thus, present study was conducted to investigate the impact of adoption of improved tasar silkworm rearing technologies as a strategy for improving tasar cocoon production in the state. For the study, an “Ex Post Facto” research designed was used and 50 adopted seed cocoon rearers and 50 non-adopted seed cocoon rearers were selected through random sampling method. The results of the study showed that, during the Ist Crop of Daba TV rearing, the average cocoon yield of the farmers who have adopted the tasar silkworm rearing technologies ranged from 2907 to 3612 cocoons per 100 dfls while in case of non-adopter it ranged from 2316 to 2616 cocoons per 100 dfls. The overall improvement in cocoon yield in the technology adopted lots over that of control lot was ranged from 26.58 to 32.08 per cent. Similarly, during IInd crop rearing of Daba TV, the cocoon yield of the farmers who adopted the technology ranged from 3126 to 4123 cocoons per 100 dfls while in the control, it ranged from 2639 to 3493 cocoons per 100 dfls with the overall improvement ranged from 11.80 to 20.29 per cent. Moreover, during IIIrd crop rearing of Daba TV, the cocoon yield of the farmers who adopted the technology ranged from 5322 to 6487 cocoons per 100 dfls compared to non- adopted of technologies which ranged from 4006 to 5213 per 100 dfls. The paired t test showed that there was a significant improvement in cocoon yield due to the adoption of the improved tasar silkworm rearing technology by the adopted seed cocoon rearers in all three crops of Daba TV eco-race. Also, a significant improvement was noticed in the cocoon and shell weight in all the three crops of Daba TV. The study suggests that the effective technology transfer strategies should be developed and implemented in the state coupled with the suitable training programs so as to convince farmers about the benefits of adoption improved tasar silkworm rearing technologies.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135993849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
