Validity is a matter of degree. The study is done to know the various methods of validity. Validity is a fundamental aspect of research quality, which is why it is important to assess the various methods of validity. Descriptive research was used for the study. It was examined that face validity refers to an indicator that seems to measure its construct “on its face”. Content validity is a form of judgmental validity, that involves determining if a test adequately represents the content domain. Criterion-related validity methods include concurrent and predictive approaches. Construct validity assesses how well theoretical ideas are translated into measurable variables. Face validity involves examining whether a measurement appears suitable based on its operationalization on the face of it. Lawshe's content validity ratio quantifies expert agreement on the essentiality of individual items in a test or scale. In contrast, the content validity index considers overall expert agreement on the representativeness of items collectively within a test or scale. It considers the agreement among experts regarding the content validity of the entire set of items. Cohen’s Kappa is used to assess the level of agreement between two or more raters or observers when coding or categorizing data. The kappa coefficient is particularly useful when chance agreement among raters is possible. Item Objective Congruence evaluates the efficacy of items in measuring one or more objectives, accomplished by an unbiased expert panel provides evidence of content validity. The most significant assessment at this stage is determining if items and objectives are congruent. Concurrent and predictive validity are assessed using Pearson's correlation and Spearman rank correlation coefficients respectively. The Multi-trait Multimethod Matrix (MTMM), evaluates the construct validity of measures. Validity is essential for ensuring credible and meaningful research findings by enhancing the trustworthiness of the measuring instruments.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"176 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136113943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rajasthan state of India is well known for its rainfed areas in which agriculture is a gambler of Indian monsoon and it can act as a potential zone for PKVY. In Rajasthan, organic farming is also named as “Baderaan ki kheti” which locally means as the type of farming done by their ancestors, but actually it is a traditional approach of farming with modern and scientific way. Government of Rajasthan has also taken an initiative to bring much area under organic farming through Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) in Bikaner District. Hence, in 2015-18 highest numbers of clusters were formed under PKVY. Thus, the study was conducted in Bikaner District of Rajasthan state to delineate the constraints being faced by farmers in adopting the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana in the state of Rajasthan. The Bikaner district comprises eight tehsils. Out of three tehsils, namely Nokha, Sridungarhgarh and Bikaner, were selected purposely for the present investigation based on the highest number of registered farmers under PKVY. One village from each selected tehsil constituted the sample of the study and PKVY beneficiary farmers were selected purposely using proportionate random sampling method and the non-beneficiary farmers were randomly selected from the same villages to constitute the other half of the sample size. Thus, 180 respondents, i.e., 90 beneficiary and 90 non-beneficiary respondents were included in the present investigation. The data were gathered from 180 respondents through an interview schedule. It was found that the main constraints faced by the farmers in the adoption of PKVY were ‘time consuming process’, ‘lack of literacy among farmers’, ‘low yield during transition period’, ‘lack of knowledge about geo-tagging’ and ‘incentive is too low. This may be because farmers in the study area were not aware about the complete procedure involved in the adoption of PKVY and required more exposure through various extension activities like awareness programmes, trainings, workshops and interactive sessions. Progressive organic farmers who have adopted all the practices of organic farming and have advanced knowledge should be used as referent extension person for increasing the rate of adoption of PKVY.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136115137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study used a participatory action research design that allowed the researcher and the study participants to collaborate in collecting and, analysing data, and re-defining the research question and the research method in a cyclical process. A baseline survey was conducted to establish the current situation in participatory monitoring and evaluation within the agricultural programme at Egerton Radio (101.7 FM). The study found out that most of the participants are male (53.5%) who are middle-aged (46years) with enough experience (10years) and attained formal education to only primary level (45.8%). The population falls within the lower range of the scale being measured in terms of land size ownership of up to 2 acres. Most of the individuals had enough experience in different farming activities. The most common source of information is local chicken farming which also the leading source of training needs for the radio programme. Further, regarding Training and Knowledge areas, dairy cow stands out to be most common training need for the radio programme. In this regard, the study recommends that, the government and non-governmental organizations should empower farmers practicing various farming activities through offering of radio programmes, trade fairs, and capacity building to impart more knowledge and skills to the farmers to transform agriculture.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135804357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
