Specifically, these hazards are caused by the dynamic erosion and accretion of riverbanks. The natural disaster caused by the subsequent sediment buildup on the riverbed and river bank erosion poses a serious threat to the way of life for the residents of Char, particularly the women, by causing damage to or destruction of houses, crops, and family income. The Char Livelihood Program (CLP) attempted to strengthen women's resilience and sense of empowerment while simultaneously improving their livelihoods, nutrition, access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene habits of char women. This study was mainly undertaken to investigate the extent of changes in the livelihood status of char women due to the involvement in Char Livelihood Program (CLP), explore the factors that may influence the livelihood changes of the char women due to involvement in the CLP. Besides, the problems faced by the char women while working in CLP were also investigated. Data were collected from four villages of Islampur Upazila (sub-district) under Jamalpur district purposively and analyzed using Multiple Linear Regression Models. The goal was to identify the variables that affect the char women's changes in their livelihood. Findings indicated that involvement in char livelihood program had significant influence on the livelihood of char women. The main factor included years of schooling, family size and knowledge of CLP. Collectively, the factors explained 32.3% variation in the livelihood changes of char women. The most influential challenges, from highest to lowest, included unavailability of transport and poor communication status, and lack of commitment of the service provider. Therefore, in order to overcome these obstacles, efforts must be made to ensure seasonal transportation system and enhance road communication infrastructure to enable char women to move around freely in order to carry agricultural products and to connect with relevant stakeholders for better farming and income operations.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"21 17","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135041700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the buying behavior of consumers towards vermicompost. The researcher employed a mixed-method approach, including both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. The data was collected from primary as well as secondary sources of data. Secondary data was collected from published literature. In this study, we are going to find out the mindset of the consumer while purchasing vermicompost or bio-fertilizer. Nowadays, vermicompost is becoming increasingly popular because heavy chemical fertilizers are used to grow food grains, vegetables, and pulses, which has led to a lot of health issues in humans, with cancer being one of the major concerns. Apart from health issues, degrading soil health is a major problem faced by Indian farmers, and the only solution they have is vermicompost or bio-fertilizer. The researcher found that out of 100 respondents, only 40% were using vermicompost, while 60% were not using it. It has been noticed that the maximum number of respondents using vermicompost are marginal farmers or the urban population who are interested in kitchen or terrace gardening. The findings reveal that out of 100 respondents, only 40% were currently using vermicompost, indicating a relatively low adoption rate. Among the vermicompost users, 37% belonged to the marginal category of farmers with smaller land holdings. In contrast, the majority of non-users were large-scale farmers, citing higher costs as the primary reason for not adopting vermicompost. The study identifies key factors influencing consumer behavior. Awareness plays a significant role, with 20% of respondents reporting it as a motivation for purchasing or using vermicompost. Other factors include health consciousness (12.5%), involvement in vermicompost production (25%), nature-loving practices (17.5%), and the ease of application (12.5%).
 The researcher concluded the research by recommending appropriate and useful strategies to promote the adoption of vermicompost among consumers in the Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"95 21","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135092568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Information sharing, a fundamental practice of exchanging knowledge and data, plays a pivotal role in enhancing the dairy sector's productivity and sustainability. This study delves into the intricacies of information exchange within the context of dairy innovation platforms (IPs) dynamic collaborative spaces where diverse stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, input suppliers and extension personnels etc., converge to address common challenges. Taking place both physically and virtually, dairy IPs facilitates collective problem-solving, with each member contributing their unique expertise to foster a win-win collaborative environment. This research article draws from a comprehensive investigation conducted in Haryana (India), focusing on two districts with substantial bovine populations i.e., Karnal and Hisar. These districts are home to multiple agricultural research institutes, universities and innovation platforms actively engaged in the dairy sector. Data were gathered randomly from 140 dairy actors, that includes researchers, extension personnels, input suppliers and dairy farmers, all with a minimum of five years of experience in their respective fields. Information sharing was evaluated through responses to specific dairy-related topics such as breeding, feeding, healthcare and management practices, collected during March 2017. Our findings reveal a dynamic landscape of information sharing among different actors within the dairy innovation platform. Researchers emerge as key contributors to topics like animal breeding (27.87%) and extreme weather control, while extension personnel excel in areas like pregnancy diagnosis and disbudding. Dairy Farmers, constituting the largest group, exhibit a keen interest in concentrate composition and green fodder types. Dairy farming serves as a critical pillar in meeting the nutritional needs of our ever-expanding global population and the information sharing is fundamental to enhancing its productivity and sustainability.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":" 20","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135285696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
