It can be external factor as well as internal factors. This study looked at the limitations of green marketing and the consumption of organic products in Varanasi district, Uttar Pradesh. A total of 332 people took part in the study from four blocks of Varanasi district in Uttar Pradesh. The study looked at different types of limitations that can be put into four main groups: consumption, psychological, institutional, and social. It also examined the smaller components within each of these groups. Garret methods were employed to figure out the limitation. A major obstacle to buying organic products was the higher price compared to regular products. In the study area, social constraints were mainly due to strict food habits, and psychological constraints were mainly due to a lack of interest in consuming organic products.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135870443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was a cross-sectional qualitative study undertaken from January to July 2023, in which questionnaires were administered to 100 agricultural assistants (AAs) to assess the AAs perception of their roles. The collected quantitative data was analysed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer program. The findings show that most of the interviewed AAs perceived their roles namely; training, technical support, and performance management as important. However, AAs are faced with challenges such as low camp extension officer to farmers ratio; inadequate support to extension service delivery; conflicting methodologies in extension service delivery between public and private sector players; poor extension planning, reporting, and feedback culture; and inadequate in-service and refresher training for AAs. Based on these findings, it is recommended that there is a need to work out all aspects that affect the performance of the AAs' mandated roles. To considerably address the challenges of AAs in Zambia, the study does, however, encourage the government to recruit additional AAs, organise in-service and refresher training for AAs to improve their knowledge and skills, and adequate support to extension delivery. This would assist AAs in carrying out their mandated responsibilities and, ultimately, improve the delivery of extension services for improving agricultural performance across the country.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135870948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fruits and vegetable crops share major production (nearly 90%) of horticulture in India. Among fruits, Mango is the most important fruit crop in Indian Economy. India is the leader in mango production (20772 thousand MT) during 2021-22, which accounts for more than 40 per cent of global mango production. Hence, the present study analyses the production performance of mango in India based on secondary data from 1991-92 to 2021-22 for area, production and productivity of mango and of major mango producing states in India. The components like trend, growth rate and instability analysis were used in this study. The increasing trend and positive growth rate were noticed in area and production of mango in the nation as a whole which is a good sign. However, productivity had shown declining trend, negative growth rate and higher instability over the years which need to be addressed by high density planting, replacing old orchards having less productivity trees by high yielding mango varieties with high market demand and so on. Hence, there should be more focus on productivity to improve its growth rate and reduce instability which will eventually improve the mango production since area showed high positive growth rate and low instability. The study also identifies the states showing increasing trend, positive growth and low instability in area, production and productivity which is a good sign for mango cultivation. However, states showing declining trend, negative growth rate and high instability in above mentioned parameters which need to be focused and for which researchers deserve deeds.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135871430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, positive effects are beginning to show in agricultural production and family welfare. But the successes are limited at a time when public sector investments in agricultural research and extension are under pressure, when ever-greater demands are being placed on rural women in the face of rapid social transformation and in an increasing number of areas, when evidence of environmental degradation is growing. ICTs are now being used to provide basic solutions to farmers and are increasingly being supported by extension practitioners for use in agricultural production and marketing systems. This paper is intended to investigate the role played by ICT in the dissemination of effective extension information among women livestock farmers in the North West Region of Cameroon. Primary data were collected through the use of structured questionnaires, observations, focus groups and interview guides. Secondary data were obtained from books, journals, research projects and scientific articles. These provided the necessary quantitative and qualitative data that were used to draw conclusions. Multi stage sampling techniques were used to select the female farmers for the study. Four hundred (400) questionnaires were administered randomly to collect data from the communities. The women were examined using different channels like media, phone calls, friends, and agricultural technicians. The results from the study shows that, the media seemingly are doing a great job in disseminating of appropriate agricultural information. Therefore, 40.5% of the farmers get information from the media or magazines but only (7.8%) get information through phone calls. The findings of this study can go a long way to help policy makers in planning and designing need-based information infrastructural system for rural farmers.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"119 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135870696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As we all know, doubling farmers' income is the main target of the country's agriculture sector during this period. SFAC Kerala also strives to achieve the same goal. Here, the performance of the 54 agribusiness units initiated by SFAC Kerala in the last five years (from the 2017-18 financial year to the 2021-2022 financial year) duration has been considered for analysis and interpretation. Census methodology has been adopted in this study. Primary data was collected from all the above agencies through the telephonic interview method. Barring a decline phase during the Covid pandemic, SFAC's efforts towards doubling farmers' income have been successful. The average monthly income of farmers has increased by over sixty percent in the last five financial years. If the current growth rate is maintained, SFAC will achieve the target of doubling farmers' income within a minimum of five financial years through the agribusiness sector. Advanced technology adoption and professional management approach in the field of agribusiness are more helpful in the journey towards it.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"46 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136067406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper examines the aggregate level of public policy support to Indian agriculture for the period from 1995-96 to 2020-21, by putting together different support measures extended by central and state governments and classifying those under three different categories, namely, subsidies, public investment and green box support. The findings reveal that despite some moderation from the peak level achieved during 2008-09, the aggregate support to Indian agriculture continues to remain sizeable at 22.4 per cent of agriculture GVA in 2020-21. In the aftermath of the global financial crisis (GFC) in 2008-09, which is also coincident with the global food crisis, input subsidy declined sharply, whereas the decline in investment was more gradual. Furthermore, there is a distinct shift in the composition, away from input subsidies and in favour of green box support, which includes direct transfer to supplement farmers' income. Using multi dimension index method, the effective aggregate support index, constructed after assigning different weights to the three components as per their impact on agricultural growth, highlights that effective public support to agriculture, which was low in the late 1990s improved substantially till 2008-09 and moderated thereafter. The index values suggest that there is scope for further improvement in policy support for Indian agriculture with higher emphasis on public investment.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"6 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136104715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has a major effect on the health system of the society which disrupts the economic system as well. Resulting in a disruption in the normal life of the people. Sudden lockdowns and restrictions on mobility have made sudden changes in the society. To curb the spread of COVID-19, social distancing and lockdown also followed in India. This causes a serious effect on the education system as shuts down all schools, colleges, and universities. The new system of online education was initiated to tackle the situation. Thus, the present study has a main objective to understand the problems and challenges faced by parents and children with this new norm. For this, the data was collected from 100 households through a semi-structured interview schedule from the Bathinda district of Punjab. The study found that there was a shift of schools from private to government after the lockdown because of shutdown of the economic sector. Various parents faced economic crises and low wages that caused non-affordability of school fees and other expenditures. Parents faced serious setbacks and disruptions in their daily routines also. Similarly, children have become addicted to phones and the internet. Children started watching YouTube and cartoons that hampered their education.","PeriodicalId":492946,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics and Sociology","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136160008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
