A two-stage survey is used to examine these assumptions with data collected from 346 frontline employees. The findings reveal that decent work has a significant positive impact on employee boundary-spanning behaviour and promotion focus has a partial mediating effect on this relationship. A supportive organizational climate plays a positive moderating role in the relationship between decent work and promotion focus.","PeriodicalId":47998,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"12 1","pages":"1166 - 1184"},"PeriodicalIF":5.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139324026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared to previous research in this area, we employed the full suite of PMT factors in this study. An online survey was used to collect the views of 560 Chinese residents in six major Chinese cities in 2022. The results demonstrated that the PMT model provides a useful framework for understanding pandemic travel fear. Although perceived severity, perceived vulnerability and perceived response cost have significant positive relations with pandemic travel fear, perceived reward has a significant negative influence on pandemic travel fear. However, perceived response efficacy and perceived self-efficacy do not have a significant relationship with pandemic travel fear. Indeed, pandemic travel fear has significant negative and positive impacts on travel intention and self-protection intention, respectively. Practical implications of the study are discussed.","PeriodicalId":47998,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"180 1","pages":"1019 - 1030"},"PeriodicalIF":5.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139343179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are more than 952 academic studies related to Smart Tourism in the Web of Science (WoS) database. Therefore, it would be useful to examine the conceptual structure and thematic development of Smart Tourism. This study is to analyze the field of smart tourism using scientific mapping methods. Bibliometric data of 489 articles were downloaded from the WoS. This paper first conducts a co-occurrence analysis using VosViewer to determine the prominent terms and connections between them. Then, a content analysis is performed using SciMat to gain a deeper understanding of the field and its evolution from 2013 to 2022 for Smart Tourism. In this context, strategic maps, thematic networks of topics, and an evolutionary map were obtained to understand the field better by using SciMAT.","PeriodicalId":47998,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"5 1","pages":"923 - 948"},"PeriodicalIF":5.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139343241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, the concept of Emotional Solidarity, that is, the affective bonds that people have with each other, has been used to explain the resident–tourist relationship. Emotional Solidarity encompasses three factors: welcoming nature, sympathetic understanding, and emotional closeness. The objective of this research is to examine residents’ perceptions about tourism development using the theory of Emotional Solidarity in the context of Rotuma, Fiji. Rotuma has little tourism development. We analyse 310 surveys completed by Rotuma residents. Using PLS-SEM model, we find residents’ emotional closeness with tourists and welcoming nature of tourists (but not sympathetic understanding of tourists) explained tourism’s contribution to the community and support for tourism development. Travel by residents strengthens the relationship between emotional closeness and welcoming nature to their perceptions of contribution to the community and support for tourism development.","PeriodicalId":47998,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"138 1","pages":"907 - 922"},"PeriodicalIF":5.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139343251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study analyzes the effect of travel companions on tourist anxiety during crisis situations through three scenario-based experiments based on the cognitive appraisal theory of emotion (CATE). The results indicate that (1) travel companions can relieve tourist anxiety during crisis situations; (2) perceived risk and learned helplessness mediate this process; and (3) a good destination reputation weakens the effect of travel companions. This study reveals the pathways and intervention mechanisms for tourist anxiety relief during crisis situations. Moreover, it provides practical guidance for tourism crisis response and management.","PeriodicalId":47998,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"13 1","pages":"1000 - 1018"},"PeriodicalIF":5.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139343143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After a systematic synthesis of 34 pertinent studies and in-depth interviews, the study applied structural equation modeling to a dataset of 424 respondents. This study identified three components of the destination image: cognitive, affective, and conative. The underlying components of the cognitive image were validated using a second-order measurement model, which discovered significant associations. The results revealed that the cognitive image influenced the affective image and destination loyalty. This study contributes to the theory of heritage destination image formation.","PeriodicalId":47998,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"158 1","pages":"984 - 999"},"PeriodicalIF":5.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139343214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Against the broader backdrops of frequent urban-rural interactions, securing community residents’ endorsement emerges as a pivotal avenue for advancing local development projects, exemplified by rural tourism development. Thus, this study used 35 interviews from three typical villages and 706 questionnaires from two regional scales to construct a 5-point Likert scale measuring displacement in rural tourism gentrification. The results revealed two dimensions, direct and indirect displacement, that had slight positive and strong negative effects, respectively, on community residents’ attitudes toward further tourism development. This study provides a window into the complex attitudes of residents and a practical instrument for assessing the risks associated with displacement in local development projects characterized by increased mobility, including rural tourism.","PeriodicalId":47998,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"33 1","pages":"965 - 983"},"PeriodicalIF":5.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139343249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
