The keywords “self-fulfilling prophecy,” “Galatea effect,” “Golem effect” and “Pygmalion effect” were used in the Abstract of articles to conduct this literature review.\u0000\u0000\u0000Findings\u0000The authors developed a 2 × 2 framework that distinguishes self-fulfilling prophecies based on whether they are initiated internally or externally and whether positive or negative outcomes result. The authors then introduce what we label the Eyeore effect. The findings of this study assert that by institutionalizing risk management practices into an integrated CRM framework, the firm can reap multiple benefits by maintaining better contractual agreements and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders.\u0000\u0000\u0000Originality/value\u0000The study shifts the focus of CRM away from Western countries toward AEMs, which has been afflicted by high risks and uncertainties. The effectiveness of CRM against firm risk is established by dividing firm risk into firm-specific risk and systematic risk. Furthermore, this study also establishes that CRM not only leads to high returns but also reduces firm operational and production costs. Overall, the study provides a compelling argument to implement CRM for improving organizational performance and managing risks in a strategic and integrated manner. Working from home positively influences individuals’ spiritual and religious needs, while attending religious services in person is associated with less stress. Females have been found to be more likely to pray rather than attend religious services.\u0000\u0000\u0000Originality/value\u0000This study investigates the role of work from home and stress on spirituality and religiosity, two key elements often forgotten in personal life and copying. The purpose of this study is aimed at analyzing the impact of psychological empowerment (PE) on IPD through achievement orientation (AO) and perceived inclusive leadership (PIL) among academics of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.\u0000\u0000\u0000Design/methodology/approach\u0000A questionnaire-based survey was conducted among the academics in Nigeria, and 350 responses were received. A multiple regression analysis was conducted using Smart-PLS version 3.\u0000\u0000\u0000Findings\u0000Findings are: (a) PE significantly impacts AO and IPD; (b) AO mediates the relationship between PE and IPD; and (c) PIL moderates the relationship between PE and AO.\u0000\u0000\u0000Practical implications\u0000It is recommended that practitioners and administrators in tertiary institutions pay attention to academics’ AO while integrating employee empowerment intervention for optimum results.\u0000\u0000\u0000Originality/value\u0000The findings emphasize AO in explaining the mechanism by which the relationship between PE and IPD holds sway. As the primary focus, 63 high-quality journals were chosen from 154 academic papers in the Scopus and Web of Science databases by using qualitative data analysis. The method of thematic analysis incorporating grounded approach analysis was utilized for creating themes and key findings in this study.\u0000\u0000\u0000Findings\u0000This study proposes the dimensions of the BRPs framework along with key findings to identify future research directions for MSMEs. The three dimensions of BRP include responsiveness, reactiveness, and proactiveness based on the principles of agility, absorption, and resilience.\u0000\u0000\u0000Originality/value\u0000This study proposes a sustainable and resilient framework for post-disaster MSMEs as a catalyst towards sustainably resilient MSMEs. Moreover, a conceptual framework presenting the interrelationships of the SVC elements is proposed.\u0000\u0000\u0000Practical implications\u0000This study carries implications for practitioners in the form of guiding questions provided in the framework. Those questions help responsible managers to plan, identify and choose strategic sustainability actions and to develop companies’ business models aiming to lead to the creation of long-term sustainable value in different time frames and locations or different parts of the value network. Additionally, the framework guides managers to identify and manage potential tensions and conflicts which can otherwise hinder SVC.\u0000\u0000\u0000Originality/value\u0000To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first systematic literature review of SVC through business models with the conceptual development of SVC. The ILQ consists of 15 model-derived items plus extra space that provides for free-text comments. This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the ILQ, its predictive power and practical usefulness in indirect leadership courses and to evaluate the indirect leadership model in the light of new data.\u0000\u0000\u0000Design/methodology/approach\u0000The study sample consisted of 225 higher managers and 6–10 of their subordinates (total: 1,703). The latter were working at least two hierarchical levels below their higher manager. The managers made self-ratings, and the subordinates rated their respective higher manager using the ILQ.\u0000\u0000\u0000Findings\u0000Results showed that the ILQ has acceptable psychometric properties in terms of dimensionality (two model-compatible factors were obtained), reliability, discriminability and predictive power. Previous problems with many “Don’t know” responses from subordinates working two or more hierarchical levels below their higher manager were considerably reduced. A qualitative analysis of the free-text responses showed that indirect leadership behaviors that can be seen as inspirational influence and communication skills should be more emphasized in future indirect leadership courses. This paper aims to aid in developing methodological rigor by investigating the approaches of establishing validity and reliability.\u0000\u0000\u0000Design/methodology/approach\u0000Based on a systematic review of relevant literature, this paper catalogs the use of validity and reliability measures within academic publications between 2008 and 2018. The review analyzes case study research across 15 peer-reviewed journals (total of 1,372 articles) and highlights the application of validity and reliability measures.\u0000\u0000\u0000Findings\u0000The evidence of the systematic literature review suggests that validity measures appear well established and widely reported within case study–based research articles. However, measures and test procedures related to research reliability appear underrepresented within analyzed articles.\u0000\u0000\u0000Originality/value\u0000As shown by the presented results, there is a need for more significant reporting of the procedures used related to research reliability. Specifically, it examined the relationships between personal characteristics and strategic pivot behavior in a sample of small business owners during a peak period of the crisis in Israel.\u0000\u0000\u0000Design/methodology/approach\u0000A sample (N = 202) of small business owners provided information on their business and demographics, and responded to questionnaires assessing their personality (Big Five personality traits), emotional intelligence (EI) and reported the extent to which they implemented strategic changes during the pandemic. These changes were categorized as “positive” (e.g. shifting to new markets, adding partners or investors) or “negative’ (e.g. letting employees go).\u0000\u0000\u0000Findings\u0000The results partially support an association between personality traits and “positive” strategic change behavior, mediated by EI.\u0000\u0000\u0000Research limitations/implications\u0000The results suggest that business owners' personality traits, and chief among them – EI may play a key role in enabling flexibility when dealing with a long-term crisis or threat. However, market and legislative differences between markets may limit the generalizability to other sectors or countries.\u0000\u0000\u0000Originality/value\u0000To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is among the first to address small businesses’ COVID-19-related challenges from a personal-resource perspective by applying a theoretical lens integrating the RBV of the firm, UET and positive psychology.
