This is an explanatory, exploratory, quasi-experimental, and longitudinal study. We worked with a control group and an experimental group. The population consisted of 38 primary school students. The main results show that interactive technological applications are effective as a didactic strategy in developing mathematical skills, achieving a significant difference in the tests applied to the control group in correspondence with the experimental group. These findings reveal that teaching mathematics must be innovative without neglecting the classical elements that make meaningful learning possible.","PeriodicalId":47427,"journal":{"name":"Minerva","volume":"8 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138982160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study took a mixed approach and was conducted using a sample of 24 students randomly assigned to two groups of 12 each. One of these groups received conventional instruction, while the other was introduced to four home experiments in two units. Pre- and post-test tests were implemented as a measurement strategy to evaluate the incidence of home experiments. The experimental design was a Completely Randomized Design (DCA) with twelve replications. The results obtained indicated that the inclusion of home experiments had a positive impact on the learning process. In addition, they facilitated the connection between theoretical concepts and situations in everyday life.","PeriodicalId":47427,"journal":{"name":"Minerva","volume":"5 26","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-12-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138586015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents possible innovations in object-oriented programming and its impact on design patterns for software development. The developers of these systems face the challenge of designing not a single system but several ways to solve the same problem and introduce innovations that allow them to modify and extend the codes quickly and easily. To illustrate how a design pattern is applied in an object-oriented system, an order management system for an online vehicle parts sale is shown. For this case, the Factory Method design pattern is selected to handle creating product objects (spare parts) dynamically and efficiently, which is a first step in building large systems.","PeriodicalId":47427,"journal":{"name":"Minerva","volume":"361 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138625888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main results show that obtaining pure and refined glycerol is possible. In addition, it was observed that the parameters were within the regulations presented by several authors. It was also observed that the glycerol with better properties was obtained at 60 minutes at a temperature of 60 °C. In this way, it is possible to affirm that it is viable to use discarded oils as an alternative for their application in the elaboration of products that benefit the chemical, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries, as is the case of hydrogel, thus avoiding their incorporation into the environment.","PeriodicalId":47427,"journal":{"name":"Minerva","volume":" 45","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138612425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process is more straightforward when there are only a few items, but its complexity lies when there are many close or overlapping items. In addition, the pressure to meet tight inventory deadlines adds another challenge. This work aimed to develop a program that automates the accurate counting of similar objects in digital images, regardless of their quantity or arrangement. For this purpose, an algorithm has been implemented in Python. The main results show efficiency in analyzing images with similar objects, a significant step towards separating and accurately counting adjacent objects in various scientific fields. This solution promises to simplify and speed up the counting process in digital images, with potential beneficial applications in multiple scientific disciplines.","PeriodicalId":47427,"journal":{"name":"Minerva","volume":" 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138614960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most common view among those supporting the lottery idea is that some form of modified lottery is acceptable, if properly combined with peer review. This means that partial randomization can be applied only after experts have screened the pursuit-worthiness of all submitted proposals and sorted out those of lowest quality. In the present paper, I will argue against the use of partial lotteries or partial randomization and instead promote use of a pure lottery in combination with a radical increase in block funding. The main reason for holding this position is that a partial lottery cannot solve the problems inherent in the current funding system, which is based on grant competitions and peer review. A partial lottery cannot decrease the enormous time-waste, reduce the uneven distribution of time between researchers, neutralize expert biases or mitigate academic power asymmetries. Instead, we need a stronger focus on improving general time management in academia by implementing a more holistic model for organizing research opportunities in the future.","PeriodicalId":47427,"journal":{"name":"Minerva","volume":"43 24","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135820185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
