To address these gaps, this study applied network analysis to examine how ACEs, including expanded indicators, are structurally organised among youth in correctional facilities in South Korea. Sixteen ACEs were assessed, comprising the 10 traditional ACEs of abuse, neglect and household dysfunction and six expanded indicators that reflect community-level adversity, such as exposure to violence and discrimination. Sex-specific networks were estimated to identify close links among adversities and to explore how these experiences were structurally configured within each group. Across both male and female youth, strong links appeared within maltreatment, for example, between physical and emotional abuse and between physical and emotional neglect and also between community violence and discrimination. The male network showed a larger number of direct links and a more diffuse structure, whereas the female network displayed clearer segmentation, with traditional and expanded ACEs forming distinct clusters. Some connections that occurred through other adversities were also observed, indicating that experiences in different domains were linked through intermediate ones. These findings highlight both shared and sex-specific structural patterns across traditional and expanded ACEs among youth in correctional facilities in a non–Western setting. To address this gap, this study aims to critically examine the applicability of the Power and Control Wheel and consider its relevance for Roma women in the United Kingdom. Drawing on a feminist understanding of domestic violence and abuse, integrated with the concept of antigypsyism, the study employed a two-phase interpretivist design, including focus groups and expert-by-experience interviews with Roma victim-survivors and specialist practitioners. Challenging individualised understandings of domestic violence and abuse, findings revealed that it is frequently embedded within extended family hierarchies, community expectations and structural inequalities. However, borderline personality disorder (BPD) remains an overlooked intermediary in this pathway, despite sharing aetiological roots and symptom overlap with PTSD. This study examined whether BPD and PTSD serially mediate the association between CM and IPV victimisation in adult Australian women. A sample of 123 self-identified female IPV victims completed validated self-report measures assessing CM, BPD features, PTSD symptoms, and IPV experiences. Serial mediation analysis indicated that CM was associated with BPD features, which in turn were associated with more severe PTSD symptomatology, subsequently associated with increased IPV victimisation. CM was also directly associated with IPV victimisation, indicating partial mediation. These findings challenge conventional diagnostic assumptions and suggest many IPV victims may receive incomplete treatment when BPD features are not assessed alongside PTSD. Results underscore the importance of comprehensive screening for both BPD and PTSD in trauma-exposed populations.
