The type of this experimental study was based on a pretest-posttest with the control group. Data were collected using a questionnaire, and the participants were selected by stratified random sampling. Out of a total of 73 participants, there were 42 people in the intervention group and 31 participants in the control group. The variables of awareness, information sharing, division of labor, and team communication had a significant positive relationship with the team collaboration (p < 0.05), collaboration had effect on the evaluation of retrieved information with a significant positive relationship (p < 0.05). Based on the findings, CIR is the set of activities that can include factors such as the ability to share the obtained knowledge, analyze the retrieved information, communicate, and collaborative awareness. The structural model confirmed our findings that developing the interactive and synergies capabilities of research team members to increase collaboration through a network-based structure reduces the loss of stored collective knowledge and also accelerates the process of access to information resources, and required content. This research has carried on as the one of the first studies on collaborative information retrieval behavior with an experimental method in Iran and many others countries. A considerable point in the present study was assessing the nature of CIR behavior from the perspective of human behaviors, which was mentioned as a very important approach in information science. Accordingly, a human behavioral approach to information retrieval was considered and strengthened, regardless of technical aspects. Another strength of this study was the model extracted from our findings which have emphasized specifically CIR as specific and dynamic activities.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2024-02-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139802042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this systematic review was to explain the possible benefits and difficulties that big data may present for Ghanaian academic libraries. A federated search was conducted in several academic databases subscribed to by the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Ghana (CARLIGH) on the terms big data and academic libraries. Relevant articles searched and retrieved were based on abstract and title and spanned the years 2001 to 2023. Of the total documents retrieved, 65 met the inclusion criteria set by the researchers. Key findings were that big data is useful for enhancing collections of academic libraries, developing personalized services, analysing user behaviour, and assisting in decision-making. To maximise gains, addressing issues including protecting user privacy, managing data, and shortage of skilled personnel is necessary. Academic libraries in Ghana are advised to collaborate with several important stakeholders on using big data while ensuring the proper setting is available and accessible. The study contributes to the literature on big data in academic libraries by integrating researchers’ scientific insights and recommendations. It also outlines the main implementation issues based on a thorough examination of recent relevant literature in the field. It is recommended that an effective data management plan and other strategies be implemented by academic libraries that seek to incorporate big data in their operations.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2024-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139602902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the study on the moderating effect of internet and mobile usage on the democracy-economic growth relationship is very scanty. This study, therefore, contributes to the economic development literature by examining the impact of internet and mobile usage on the democracy-economic growth relationship in 26 African economies over the period 2000–2020. The panel corrected standard errors (PCSE) estimation technique has been applied. The results show that improving the democratic system in Africa can foster economic growth. Moreover, the result reveals that increasing internet and mobile usage can improves economic growth in Africa. Furthermore, the results reveal that the interaction between internet and mobile usage and democracy can boost economic growth in Africa. Policy implications regarding the moderating effect of internet and mobile usage on the democracy-economic growth nexus are discussed.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2024-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139530068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There has been a substantial increase in global sustainable food production and food consumption. This research investigates the enduring impacts of ICT on grain food production in SAARC countries. This study employs balanced panel data from 2002 to 2019. In order to accomplish the objective of the research, we use the Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR). The results indicate that the use of Mobile phones and the Internet has a significant and favourable effect on grain food production across all quantiles. Furthermore, the results of the causality tests validate a significant bidirectional causal relationship between Internet usage, cropland, fertilizer usage, rural labour, and grain food production. On the contrary hand, there is an unidirectional connection where Mobile phones use influence grain production. The study's results suggest that authorities of SAARC countries should invest supplementary resources to improve ICT infrastructure in rural regions. Therefore, farmers may improve their agricultural productivity and increase their revenue by using digital technology.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2024-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139627534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study also aims to present the potential of researchers from research universities to store and share their research data in data archives. Within the scope of the research, interviews were conducted with 15 participants who are responsible or have the potential to be responsible for the processes related to the RDM. In addition, the records of researchers, who are members of research universities, transferred to Zenodo and Aperta were examined within the scope of the study. According to the results, the amount of shared data sets in Zenodo and Aperta was quite small. However, almost all of the data transferred to these data archives is open access. Findings based on participant opinions showed that tools and techniques such as cloud storage, modern techniques, devices, and service providers, as well as resources such as budget, infrastructure and personnel for RDM are not sufficient at research universities in Türkiye. It is thought that this study will draw attention to the benefits of RDM services for universities by revealing what kind of roles the libraries affiliated with research universities play in the process of RDM.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2024-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139383072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, few in-depth studies have been conducted on the differential effects of different ISs. This poses a challenge for the design of efficient information intervention strategies. This study designed an extended theoretical framework of planned behaviour to examine the differential effects of different ISs on farmers’ intentions to adopt organic fertilisers. Survey data from 361 Funing watermelon farmers in China were analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling. The results showed that the utilisation of personal ISs (both formal and informal) had significant positive effects on intentions, whereas impersonal ISs did not play a significant role. Among these, personal informal ISs were the strongest informational determinant. Moreover, psychological factors played a key mediating role between ISs and intentions. Attitude was the strongest direct psychological factor, followed by perceived behavioural control and subjective norms. These findings provide theoretical and practical insights for policymakers to design targeted information interventions to promote the adoption of organic fertilisers by farmers. When relying on formal ISs, the Chinese government should focus on the role of informal ISs.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2024-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139383681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigates the dissemination of indigenous knowledge by traditional leaders in the Mashonaland East Province in Zimbabwe. A qualitative methodology that used hermeneutic phenomenology and knowledge conversion theory was used to explore the dissemination of indigenous knowledge by traditional leaders in the Mashonaland East Province, in Zimbabwe. Purpose sampling was used to determine the study population. Data collected from interviews with traditional leaders and other members of the community were augmented with reviewed documents from the ministry responsible for the appointment of traditional leaders. Data was analysed thematically according to the study objectives. The findings of this study revealed that traditional leaders are among the custodians of indigenous knowledge who should ensure that indigenous knowledge is preserved for posterity. It was established that the constitution of Zimbabwe empowers traditional leaders to guard jealously the indigenous knowledge of their communities through the development of strategies for spreading the knowledge to future generations. Various indigenous knowledge scholars concurred that the lack of proper dissemination of indigenous knowledge culminates in its extinction. Dissemination strategies that include the use of information communication technologies were proposed. Furthermore, the study recommends that indigenous knowledge should first be captured and documented to enable greater dissemination.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139384897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study is to investigate Research data management services among librarians in Nigerian universities. A questionnaire was used to collect data on RDM services among librarians in Nigerian universities for this study. The participants were the librarians in the public universities in South-west, Nigeria. The study found that the roles of librarians in RDM services in Nigerian universities are to encourage research facilitation and promote scientific communication. The extent of involvement of librarians in RDM in Nigeria is low. The study also found that although librarians in Nigerian universities derive many benefits from RDM services, they encounter challenges such as a lack of data management plan and limited grants from research funding agencies in contributing to RDM. It was therefore recommended that universities in Nigeria should create RDM centers in the libraries to prevent data loss and for easy accessibility of research data by researchers","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.9,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139386609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
