The insights provided are based on the experiences of professionals at the National Library and Archives of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during their ECM implementation. An interpretive philosophical model, along with qualitative methodologies such as interviews and focus group discussions were employed for data collection. The participants included professionals from the UAE's National Library and Archives who played a significant role in the ECM system's implementation. A thorough review of relevant literature was also carried out to validate and reinforce the viewpoints obtained from the interviewees and focus group participants. The study discovered that comprehensive business needs assessment, detailed research, system compatibility, clarity of policies, and effective change management are vital for the successful roll-out of an ECM system. However, it's worth noting that the proposed implementation model offered in this study may not be all-encompassing. The insights shared are limited to the experiences of one archival institution, and the literature consulted may not cover all existing viewpoints. Despite these limitations, this research provides essential guidance, particularly to national archival institutions contemplating the adoption of ECM systems. It underlines the importance of ECM in effectively managing an organization's structured and unstructured data and emphasizes the need for due diligence during ECM implementation. Further research is recommended to explore the advantages arising from the successful implementation of an ECM system.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"59 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135272020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, recent developments in social media have massively increased the creation and dissemination of this information. This study employed a scoping review method to ascertain fabricated information contexts, regulatory frameworks, and impediments in regulating the information. Google and Google Scholar search engines were used to identify documents published between 2006 and 2022 on fabricated information and regulatory frameworks. The data in these studies were subjected to thematic analysis. The study reveals that Facebook and Twitter produce a large quantity of fabricated information and that most of the information is created and disseminated from political and health contexts. Besides, the study shows that despite the available regulatory frameworks for curbing fabricated information, the problem persists. This has been attributed to diverse challenges associated with the regulation of information. A universal mechanism and regulatory framework should be enacted to regulate fabricated information effectively.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"3 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135929413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this, the present study collected data from 352 social media users in South Korea through the survey for which the professional survey company gave electronic gift cards to respondents to increase the response rate and reduce the non-response bias. And, it used hierarchical multiple regression analyses. First, the results show that the more socialization, pass-time, or information-seeking gratification participants perceive online, the more favorable fake news sharing they have. Conversely, entertainment was not significantly associated with fake news sharing in this study. Second, the positive relationship between socialization gratification support and fake news sharing is stronger for participants with high rather than low online trust. However, online trust was found to have no significance on the relationship between other gratification factors and fake news sharing. This study enhances understanding of sharing fake news online, linking negative social media use to fake news sharing. It connects antecedents and variables based on U&G theory and prior research. It also recommends screen time tracking apps with warnings to address social media fatigue and prevent fake news.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"12 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135412914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To preserve their competitive edge, businesses are increasingly turning to business intelligence (BI) systems. While BI has been acknowledged to enhance decision-making, efficiency, innovation, performance and provide organizational value, the literature offers a limited understanding on its dark sides, especially in less affluent and developing nations. In this investigation, we diagnose the nexus between BI system usage, technostress, and work withdrawal behaviors (WWBs) using transactional theory of stress. We applied Partial Least Squares Modeling approach on cross-sectional data collected from travel agencies in Jordan to examine the model. The findings back the idea that BI system usage is associated with increased technostress, and technostress is associated with increased WWBs. Technostress mediated the path between BI system usage and WWBs. The findings offer implications that extend our understanding of the scholarship of BI system usage and present building blocks for practical reconsiderations.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"142 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135730559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is a lack of empirical research focusing on how technostress specifically affects employees’ work behaviors and effective strategies for reducing its negative effects. This study aims to fill this research gap by examining the relationships between technostress and work behaviors and proposing interventions to alleviate its adverse consequences. The researchers conducted a survey and performed multiple regression analyses using data from 256 Korean employees and their supervisors. The findings of the study indicate that workplace technostress is negatively associated with both organizational citizenship behaviors and deviant workplace behavior. Moreover, the study revealed a stronger negative correlation between workplace technostress and organizational citizenship behaviors/deviant workplace behavior among employees who perceive low levels of organizational support, compared to those who perceive high levels of organizational support. By uncovering the mechanisms through which technostress impacts employee well-being, this research contributes to the development of evidence-based interventions and policies aimed at creating healthier and more productive work environments.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135993995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, satisfaction with the use of students’ portals remains a challenge to distance education students especially in mandatory environments where students are obliged to use the portal. However, there is also a lack of empirical evidence on the effects of portal functionality and portal information display on the easiness of use of students’ portal and portal system performance leading to satisfaction, in the literature. Accordingly, this study aims to unravel the determinants of students’ satisfaction and their continuous use intentions of portal systems. In view of this, a quantitative approach based on an exploratory sequential mixed-method design was adopted. Questionnaires were used to collect the main data from 1409 students selected through a cluster sampling technique after an initial interview guide was used for focus group discussions. Data collected were analysed using both the descriptive and Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) techniques. Findings from the analysis revealed that portal functionality and portal information display were antecedents of portal ease of use: and portal system performance. Additionally, portal system ease of use, portal system functionality, portal system information display and portal system performance determined portal system use satisfaction. Furthermore, portal use satisfaction is a prelude to students’ continuous use intentions. Finally, the most important antecedent to student portal use satisfaction was portal system performance. These findings provide valuable insights for institutions seeking to enhance the performance of portal systems for their students. Based on the findings, recommendations were made for policy and practice towards the provision and management of student portals in distance education delivery.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135944716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, evaluating news has emerged as a crucial skill. However, it is yet unclear what variables contribute to this increase. To offer more insights, this study attempts to investigate through political news accessibility the factors influencing political news assessment of university students in Northeast Thailand. This study was a quantitative research, and the theory underlying it was news literacy. 1200 samples from undergraduate students from state, private, and autonomous universities were obtained through a multi-stage sampling. 400 questionnaires, utilized as a research tool, were distributed to each type of university for data collection. In order to examine the reliability of the research instrument, Cronbach's alpha was also used in a pre-test stage along with a content validity analysis of the questionnaire. For all elements, the alpha coefficient was 0.93. The findings demonstrated that political news assessment was most influenced by political news accessibility, which is the intervening variable (Beta = 0.265); followed by political news exposure from social media (Beta = 0.217); inner drives for the follow-up of political news (Beta = 0.190); influence of groups and social networks (Beta = 0.170); specific characteristics of the Internet (Beta = 0.151); importance of political news (Beta = 0.147); political news exposure from websites (Beta = 0.099); benefits of political news (Beta = 0.075); and political news exposure from print media (Beta = 0.042). The student characteristic factor, motivation for political news exposure factor, and political news exposure factor accounted for 67.45 percent of the variance in explaining political news evaluation among Thai students, through political news accessibility (R2 = 0.6745). Consequently, improving these elements will lead to better political news evaluation.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136014271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines the influence of information factors on consumer empowerment and green consumer behaviour. A quantitative approach was adopted, and data were collected by surveying 301 green product consumers residing in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. The data were analysed by structural equation modelling using Smart-PLS version 4. The results confirm that both the central and peripheral routes of the elaboration likelihood model (ELM) guide consumers’ buying decisions about green products. Furthermore, the study revealed that consumer empowerment increases green consumer behaviour and information overload moderates the influence of information credibility on consumer empowerment. The present study contributes to the consumer behaviour literature by re-examining ELM within the context of green consumption, thereby broadening the understanding of the influence of information factors on consumers. Marketers can use the findings to develop targeted strategies for their products.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136014266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Social media is captured by the percentages of the population and elites that use social media for offline political actions (OPA). This research uses annual data from a panel of 47 African countries over the period 2000–2018. Results show that social media used by the population for OPA directly curbs executive, judicial and legislative corruption. The use of social media by elites for OPA boosts corruption in the judicial sector. Moreover, social media indirectly curbs corruption through their effects on civil society participation. Reducing corruption in Africa requires inter alia, policies aimed at promoting the use of social media for OPA, the emergence of dynamic and effective civil society participation and the improvement of the quality of democracy.","PeriodicalId":47137,"journal":{"name":"Information Development","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136212311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
