The current study set out to determine nursing students’ perception and attitude to the online learning model (OLM) in the schools of nursing within South-West Nigeria. The study employed a descriptive cross-sectional design to collect data among nursing students. A self-developed questionnaire was used in this study to collect data via online google.form.com. Data analysis involves application of Relative Importance Index (RII). Findings revealed a high level of perception about online classes. Main attitudinal traits demonstrated by students were getting easily distracted, engaging in multiple tasks and having family distractions. Family members also distracted the teachers. Poor electricity supply, unstable internet network, and financial constraint were the major barriers encountered. In conclusion, we found that nursing students in South-West Nigeria demonstrated a positive disposition to online learning and have a good attitude towards it.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"62 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82351349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Digital literacy, also known as virtual learning, has the potential to improve lifelong learning. Workplace skills evolve at such a rapid pace that no school system can keep up with the continual need to alter how we work and live. Most crucially, our society's profound changes require young people to acquire new abilities. Malaysia has a long-term vision that calls for sustainable and productivity-driven growth that can only be accomplished with digitally literate employees. Although to some extent Malaysia education system has been initiating, there is very limited research that focuses on what drives digital literacy. There is no proper framework or guidelines that can be used as a blueprint to prepare the young graduates in the 21st-century workforce. The purpose of the study is to examine the drivers of digital literacy that can be taught in higher institutions and apply in today's digital workplace. This research focused on young adults as a unit of analysis and a quantitative method was used to collect the data. A total of 300 young individuals responded through self-administered questionnaires. The finding of the research showed that critical skills, operational skills, visual learning style, collaborative learning style and learning system enhance digital literacy. Finding further recommend that digital literacy improve both academic performance and employability. From this research, solutions can be proposed to both academicians and employers in achieving the digital literate graduates for the 21st-century workforce.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89139064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To promote open innovation within a gig economy, we address three problems: first, to identify which knowledge management view may contribute more in deriving, creating and increasing value and customer satisfaction; second, to educate users to learn, improve, and transfer the value to his/her designs via the user innovation community’s (UIC) feedback; third, from the reviews and findings, to identify implications/factors that we should pay more attention to when synergizing strategies and technology amidst co-evolving markets. Scoping our research to individual and additive/incremental Resource-based view (RBV-KM), Knowledge-based view (KBV-KM), and Mixed-based view (MBV-KM) knowledge management approaches, the UIC are framed (positioned) as novice product designers-customers learning via HerAll, a Malaysian B2C niche card design e-commerce website. Hypothetically, RBV-KM may evidence more participation; KBV-KM more meaningful knowledge-sharing, moderated by the leader’s design and leadership skills; MBV-KM better design outcomes, knowledge sharing and the highest designer-customer satisfaction. Findings indicate 75.85% overall average customer satisfaction for RBV-KM, 71.40% KBV-KM and 81.35% MBV-KM. These correspond with the Diamond model and Customer Relationship Models. With perceived value in the midst of inter-connected, co-evolving business models as motivator, customer satisfaction is influenced most by familiarity with the learning environment and tasks, followed by the type and quality of leadership, feedback/comments from the UIC, which influence the development of community and identity, ability, and cultural fit. Findings on the type and timing of rewards and (intelligent) guidance concur with prior literature.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"60 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90892742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this scoping review is to: 1) describe the prevalence of copy and paste usage in EMR documentation, 2) detail the known measurable safety hazards associated with its use, and 3) identify potential solutions and/or strategies that can be used to mitigate the negative consequences of the CPF while preserving its essential role in documentation efficiency. The Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines were used to identify, screen, and assess the text of articles for final inclusion in CPF article review. The primary search strategy for copy-paste articles was developed in PubMed® and then translated to CINAHL®, ScienceDirect®, and IEEExplore® to extract additional articles. Identified copy-paste articles were imported into Covidence®. Two reviewers determined the final articles that were included in the review. The search retrieved 63 publications of which 17 were identified for final inclusion. The scoping review revealed CPF of medical text is a common occurrence that cuts across all clinician types (e.g., physicians and nurses). The scoping review revealed that automated methods for finding duplication in electronic documentation had emerged. A limited number of studies with quantifiable harms associated with CPF were found. Clinicians stated that CPF: 1) had a negative impact on critical thinking, 2) led to medical complications being more likely to be overlooked, and 3) led to safety issues being missed with copy-paste content. A few different approaches were tested by researchers as alternatives to CPF. They included dictation systems, practice guidelines, note templates, highlighting of copied information, note splitting, and text insertion. CPF is long overdue for innovative approaches to minimizing patient risk and maximizing provider efficiency.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80288822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These health information technologies (HIT) pose great promise to improve patient safety, reduce medication errors and increase operational efficiencies in healthcare organizations. However, despite the perceived benefits that these complex technologies offer, their associated risks must not be overlooked or disregarded (Borycki et al., 2012). The objective of this article is to answer the following questions: 1) What is the nature of errors caused by technology (i.e., technology-induced errors) and alert fatigue in healthcare? 2) Is there a relationship between alert fatigue and technology-induced errors? 3) Do organizational strategies exist to address these problems and enhance patient safety? 4) Do technological recommendations exist to improve the current issues surrounding safety? To answer these questions a scoping review following the Arksey and O’Malley (2005) framework was conducted using the CINAHL®, Web of Science®, IEEE Xplore® and PubMed® databases. The search focused on English publications only, using the search terms “Alert Fatigue” and “Technology Errors.” Articles were iteratively assessed based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in an inclusion of 36 articles in the final scoping review. Following this, a thematic analysis was conducted and the findings placed in a data extraction table. The results indicated that while HIT present a significant opportunity to streamline processes and reduce medication errors, there is a critical need to assess them from a patient safety and quality lens. Lastly, a novel conceptual tool was created, the Flow of Cognitive Processing Model. The model provides an iterative perspective and an insightful view into the cognitive realms of healthcare professionals in their interactions with HIT. By illustrating the complexities of healthcare providers from a humanistic lens, the model could guide HIT design, acquisitions and implementations to reduce alert fatigue and mitigate the introduction of technology-induced errors.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"452 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75115035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) is now being used in Canada and the technology may have an important impact on patient safety. The objective of this scoping review is to explore the impact of CPOE on patient safety in health care settings. Four databases were searched for studies related to CPOE and patient safety. Following title, abstract and then full text review, twelve studies were selected for further analyses. Several key themes emerged from the literature. The findings revealed several important themes: (1) the implementation of CPOE is an important aspect of patient safety, (2) comparisons of CPOE implementations across multiple sites or facilities were made, (3) the end-user experience of using CPOE was important, and (4) the evaluation of CPOE is key to establishing risk frameworks. Risk mitigation strategies and lessons for academia and industry are discussed. Overall, the scoping review revealed that although patient safety can be improved using CPOE, there is a large difference in realized impacts among healthcare systems.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83363249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the spread of the Internet and the Web 2.0, websites are responsible for publishing information. While most attention is on the advanced technology and graphics to attract users, many studies have indicated that users are not satisfied with the content of many websites. Hence, this paper introduces Technological Pedagogical Content Design (TPCD) model for explaining the concept of integration of pedagogy into content and technology. Further, practical instruction of using the TPCD model for designing digital services, especially websites is suggested. TPCD has fundamentally employed the concept of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), which is a well-known framework in the field of teacher education to increase the teachers’ knowledge for integrating technology into teaching and learning. However, TPCD transforms TPC Knowledge into TPC Design as practice by integrating pedagogy into technology design in a broader context. TPCD uses human science findings to design a user-centered website with a pedagogical perspective for creating, selecting, and organizing content. Given the speed and variety of technology capabilities and the increasing content volume, TPCD helps designers identify target objectives, based on true users’ demands, and select appropriate content and suitable technological tools to increase desirability, usability, accessibility, and findability of information. Further, technical research on TPCD may open perspectives for developing a learning content management system for educational and other digital services.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87857147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
