However, little research has been conducted in Hong Kong to investigate pre-service teachers’ perceptions of the immediate adoption and delivery of online face-to-face teaching. In response to this call, the present research conducted a questionnaire survey with 48 pre-service teachers at a Hong Kong university to examine their perceptions of Zoom as a viable alternative to the suspended traditional face-to-face delivery mode of instruction. It also discussed key factors that lead to better online learning outcomes. The results showed that the participants had overall positive perceptions of Zoom-supported synchronous online education. The Zoom feature that most students considered useful was screen sharing on computers. Zoom-supported synchronous online learning benefited students by helping them to attend class meetings remotely, study course materials and content, communicate and collaborate with their instructors and classmates, and develop a sense of community and social presence. Four main factors may influence learners’ perceptions of synchronous online learning: the quality of online communication and collaboration, learning efficiency, learner autonomy and the usability of technology.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78284905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most of them have considered only a specific country for their study. This study explores both the beneficial and adverse effects of medical tourism systematically. It also studies the critical success factors (CSF) for the MT using a multi-case study of dominant countries. A qualitative approach has been used in this survey study to generate a theoretical category. For that, the “Grounded Theory” research method has been selected by which the collected data from real case studies (dominant countries in the MT industry) are categorized and analyzed through specific stages. The extracted elements can illustrate critical success factors of medical tourism and its effects on selected countries. The comprehensive results from the actual case studies were positive. The set of critical success factors can act as a list of items for countries and their health system to address when adopting MT. Two conceptual tables of the proposed critical success factors are in two categories: pull and push factors. This study is the first to yield an integrated perspective of effects on countries along with the classification of critical success factors into pull factors and push factors for implementing MT through a multi-case study that would be of practical value for many countries that have decided to gain benefit from the emerging niche market of MT.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90941553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was defined as a virtual environment shared through the Internet in which avatars represent people in three dimensions, and users can build what they wish. Since the publication of Stephenson’s novel, technological advances have enabled the creation of several metaverses for widespread usages, such as virtual world platforms like World of Warcraft and Second Life. This paper aims to review studies on the metaverse using bibliometric analysis. The findings include a summary of the most important scientific articles and journals in the subject area and the most prolific and prominent authors, organisations, and nations. Furthermore, keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed the core research clusters and their sub-themes, allowing for more pertinent debates and viewpoints on crucial areas for future research. Finally, the implications for theory and practice have been addressed, offering a comprehensive overview of expected metaverse impacts on industry and society.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90068232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

No research has touched upon the MOOC self-efficacy of engineering students in developed and developing countries. This research compared the self-efficacy levels of engineering students in Taiwan and Vietnam and examined factors predicting their MOOC self-efficacy. An online 11-point Likert scale was sent to 222 students in two sites. An independent t-test was run to compare the MOOC self-efficacy levels of the students. A regression analysis model was used to understand which demographic variables were associated with the students’ MOOC self-efficacy. Focus group discussions were conducted with 30 students. Quantitative and qualitative data helped to converge and corroborate research findings. There were no significant differences (p > 0.05) in the MOOC self-efficacy levels of the students in the two sites. Students in both universities gave the lowest ratings to the English self-efficacy subscale and the highest to the self-efficacy in the independent learning subscale. Mean scores ranged from 5.24 to 6.44. Students in Taiwan and Vietnam were moderately self-efficacious in three dimensions of the MOOC self-efficacy scale. Factors predicting self-efficacy included English proficiency levels, the number of prior MOOCs, age, and self-regulation. Implications for MOOC design and study were also given in the research.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73257996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By leveraging technology such as cloud-based platforms and artificial intelligence, organisations can store and access vast amounts of data more easily, allowing employees to quickly find the information they need. Additionally, digitalization has enabled the automation of many KM processes, such as data analysis and information sharing. As a result, organisations can make better use of their knowledge resources and are better prepared to adapt to changing business environments. Overall, digitalization has played a vital role in transforming KM to a more dynamic technology-driven process. This special issue of the Knowledge Management & E-Learning: An International Journal (KM&EL) aims to generate interest in the impact of digitalization on companies’ KM processes, inform the broader research community of the significance of this topic, and establish a platform for discussing advancements and critical directions. Our objective is to gather researchers and professionals who are invested in advancing this field of study. Moreover, this represents the starting point for academicians and practitioners to examine ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of KM processes.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83619627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Approaches are made to fulfill the needs of the consumer, as shown by the creation of diverse technologies for improving the capability to manage complex optimizations regarding decision attributes that involve uncertainty. The procedure of detecting the best alternative from all the feasible options is the basis of the decision-making problem. This article recommended two approaches: (a) multi-objective decision making by utilizing fuzzy technique and (b) fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Ordering Preferences by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method for choosing the best product while many products with many attributes are present in the marketplace. As per the need of the customer priority and their satisfaction level, this paper used linguistic quantifiers to evaluate the weight of the objective that is represented in triangular or trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. To demonstrate the technique used for the suggested approaches a case study was conducted. The simulation result shows a specific path that fuzzy logic can evolve in the problem of decision making as well as in the planning process in the product selection practice. Solutions obtained by employing both techniques were compared, which urges that the fuzzy TOPSIS approach provides more accurate information than the fuzzy MODM (multi-objective decision making) approach to find the best product from among many available products. This work helps to assist the managers to adopt suitable techniques while planning to design the product according to the customer requirements so that the consumer can get the best product as per their objectives.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87156735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, we aim to extend previous knowledge management research to contribute to both knowledge sharing theory and knowledge creation process with consideration of motivational factors including socialization, externalization, combination and internalization. This study has used quantitative research methodology wherein the data have been collected from 405 students from various universities in Iran using a survey questionnaire. Structural equation modelling has been applied to test the hypotheses of the study. The findings of the study reveal that motivational factors positively influence knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. Results reveal that motivational factors tend to increase the usage of knowledge sharing methods, and consequently, they impact on the creation process of knowledge. Further, motivational factors act as a mediator between knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. This study has limitations that present opportunities for future research. First, the research context covered people from universities only, which limits the generalizability of findings. Second, we did not consider regional cultural differences, which could cause variations in people’ knowledge sharing intention. Future studies can build upon the research models to understand the influence of the cultural factors on other type of organisations. This research contributes to both knowledge sharing theory and knowledge creation process with consideration of motivational factors including socialization, externalization, combination and internalization. Thus, the study provides directions to managers to focus on cognitive social aspects (i.e., motivational factors) to encourage the people to share and create knowledge. To the best of authors’ knowledge, this study is an early study conducted to examine the influence of motivational factors on knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. This research provides valuable information and guidelines that will be helpful for the managers to consider the important issues during knowledge creation establishment in the universities and organizations which are directly involved with creating knowledge.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"87 1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89517577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve this situation, new pedagogies, such as blended learning, have been proposed and tested. The last decade has seen an increase in the use of blended learning to support learning; however, the effect of blended learning on learning remains unclear and often mixed. The two studies in this paper draw on data from pre-university science students in the following courses: (1) Electricity and Magnetism (E&M) and (2) Waves, Optics & Modern Physics (Waves). In study 1, the treatment group (blended learning coupled with two-stage quizzes & peer formative feedback) performed significantly higher than the control group (lecture format with online homework & instant feedback) in the standardized final exam. In contrast, in study 2, there was a non-significant main effect of groups, indicating that the treatment group (blended learning with online homework & instant feedback) and the control group (lecture format with online homework & instant feedback) performed similarly in the standardized final exam. The finding of study 1 suggests that the effect of an instructional pedagogical framework embedded in a blended learning context improves performance in STEM education. Whereas the finding of study 2 suggests that a blended learning context without incorporating any instructional framework or support for cognition other than the lecture is comparable to a traditional face-to-face course.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85839936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the literature review has not kept pace with the rapid accumulation of knowledge in this field. This study systematically reviews the MCDM techniques applied in e-learning issues. In total, we reviewed 77 published studies selected from the Web of Science and Scopus databases. We classified the selected studies by the publication year, the authors’ nationality, and the type of MCDM techniques examined. We further discovered that the majority of previous studies adopted Information System Success Model (D&M model) which was proposed by Delone and McLean in 1992. Due to limited features that were provided by the e-learning system back in the mid-2000, the original D&M model might not consider some significant factors such as students’ characteristics, instructors’ characteristics, user interface and learning community. The goals of this systematic literature review are to understand if the original D&M model is addressed in modern e-learning and to determine if new factors have emerged to evaluate e-learning’s effectiveness but not captured by the original D&M model. This review contributes three new theoretical perspectives. First, reclassification of the D&M model is conducted to include learners’ characteristics, instructors’ characteristics, user interface, and learning community. Second, this study discovers that there is a need to perform reclassification of overlapping subfactors. Third, this review also identifies that the dependencies among the factors in the D&M model are inadequately examined in previous studies. Researchers can utilize the findings of this study as a foundation to formulate their research frameworks, and practitioners can integrate the significant factors identified in this study into their decision-making processes when developing e-learning at their institutions.","PeriodicalId":45327,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge Management & E-Learning-An International Journal","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78603488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"教育学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
