This scale is founded on the theory of self-systemic processes, namely on students basic psychological needs’ satisfaction: feeling competent, autonomous and in relation. From a psychological point of view, it is also a source of anxiety. The concept of eco-anxiety as it's known, is relatively recent and requires some clarification. In order to explore this phenomenon, a qualitative study was conducted with 18 participants aged between 19 and 48 years old. They participated in individual semi-directive interviews or focus groups, that were subject to a thematic content analysis. These analyses made it possible to highlight a construct comprised of a variety of symptoms that can be divided into six dimensions. Three dimensions that were already mentioned in the literature were highlighted: negative moods and cognitions related to the anticipation of the effects of climate change, anxiety and somatic manifestations. In addition, three new dimensions emerged from the interviews: questioning one's life choices, an intense stress experienced at the mention of the climate crisis and an evaluation of relationships with others towards isolation and more selective relationships. The psychopathological consequences of ecoanxiety, characterized by an exacerbation of some of the symptomatic dimensions identified in this research, could manifest itself especially in individuals who do not have sufficient resources to implement effective stress coping strategies. Therefore, treatment should focus on stress management (promote using different coping strategies), cognitive-emotion regulation (identifying dysfunctional thoughts and supporting values).</p></div>","PeriodicalId":44717,"journal":{"name":"Psychologie Francaise","volume":"69 1","pages":"Pages 35-47"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116596439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 307 Early Childhood Education students participated in this study. Based on student’ scores obtained in Test of Early Mathematics Ability (TEMA-3), that assesses formal and informal thinking, three analysis groups were designed: low-performance group, average-performance group, and high-performance group. There were significant differences in symbolic comparison and, consequently, the <em>post hoc</em> analysis showed significant differences between all groups in symbolic comparison except between the High and Average groups calculation. However, there were no differences in non-symbolic comparison between any of the groups. The teaching method and the mathematical competence showed a significant effect only on the symbolic comparison, resulting in a small size of effect for both the method and the Early Math Competence rate. These data support the dual representation hypothesis, in which the non-symbolic magnitudes would activate the Numerical Approximation System (ANS) and the symbolic quantities an exact representation of the numbers.
