The demand for channel capacity is increasing from time to time due to the increase of wireless network users. The combination of Multiple Input Multiple Output and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) is a convincing solution to enhance the capacity of different fading channels. However, the channel capacity is still limited by the use of power allocation algorithm. The existing channel capacity is dependent on Water Filling power allocation algorithm. In this paper, a hybrid algorithm of Water Filling and Nash algorithm is proposed and is applied to revise the power allocations to the channels. The proposed method has considered Rayleigh, Rician and Nakagami fading channels in the simulations. The results have shown that the channel capacity is increased significantly in different fading channels by using the proposed method compared to the existing water filling algorithm. In the future, researchers may focus on the improvement of the channel capacity in terms of power allocation method.","PeriodicalId":445522,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 13th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126303699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our work is based on JPEG standard. After the quantization stage, blocks in the DCT domain become sparse, however, if we use CS on the whole block the Entropy coding compression is severely affected. As a result, we split the DCT coefficients between Entropy coding path and CS path followed by its Entropy coder. As an added value for CS, partial encryption is achieved. To split the DCT coefficients to Entropy and CS paths, we developed five different algorithms; each algorithm uses a unique method to split every 8×8 block in the image into two parts. First part is encoded using Huffman coding, while the second part goes through compression stage using CS, then encoded using Huffman coding. At the end, we combine encoded parts to get the compressed and encrypted image. To strengthen the image encryption, we use the CS secret key to shuffle image blocks using Arnold Cat Map. The five algorithms are tested on 15 popular images and the results show that 2 techniques can achieve compression gain over JPEG as well as the partial encryption, all at a PSNR very close to JPEG.","PeriodicalId":445522,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 13th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128116149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The information on anticipated states are usually extracted from data streams and pre-programmed based on the knowledge expert interpretation of the data thus making the reinforcement learning algorithm rigid to only handles anticipated circumstances and the system will not be able to optimize. As an alternative, in this paper we explore the use of AUTOWiSARD, an unsupervised weightless neural network which will autonomously classify the states based on sensor information and then used by Q-learning, a reinforcement learning algorithm in order find near optimal behavior. Mangroves have many important roles to the environment and to the marine ecosystem and also protect land from the erosion, flood and even tsunami. Mangrove can be a shelter when there is tempest that come from the sea and can reduce the erosion to the land that cause from the wave. Mangrove have main important role for ecosystem, mapping of the mangrove should be done. But to get the information to map the mangrove area might be difficult since the area of the mangrove is a mudflats area and might have constraint to get the information to map the mangrove area. In this study using remote sensing technology, mapping for mangrove area are easier since it is use satellite image and no need to go to the field which might have difficult and probably have to take longer time to get the data. This study is about to detect mangrove area by using high resolution satellite imagery. Since this study is to detect mangrove area by using high resolution satellite imagery and there are many types of satellite imagery are available, Quickbird images have been used to detect mangrove area. With assistive technology, they can complete the work without using a lot of energy and without moving around frequently in the house. Neuro-based electronic home appliances that can assist the older adults to perform multitasking operation have not been developed. This paper describes the analysis of motor imagery electroencephalogram (EEG) to identify the suitable parameters from the signal that can be used for controlling home appliances. A protocol for recording EEG that can extract the significant motor imagery movements was designed. The EEG signals were recorded from adults using optimum electrode placements and analysed using Fast Fourier transform. It was found that the grasping hands and number of times grasping can be used to activate devices. This paper investigates the feasibility of a non-destructive method to classify the internal quality of the pineapples using near infrared light and artificial neural network. Five near infrared light emitting diodes (LEDs) were used as the light source to emit near infrared light. A photodiode was used to measure the intensity of the reflected near infrared light from pineapples. The data of the acquired near infrared light were used to classify the internal quality of the pineapple using neural network. The random seed and the hidden neurons of the neural network were optimised to maximise the classification accuracy. Findings indicate that the neural network with seven hidden neurons was capable of achieving 30% misclassification.","PeriodicalId":445522,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 13th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114393885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
