The prognostics and health management (PHM) of aircraft propulsion system is the core of the PHM of whole aircraft. Because of it is considered that the ground surveillance technology is more important than the online PHM, this paper introduces the connotation, functionalities and architecture of prognostics and health management. The function requirement and allocation of the prognostics and health management of aircraft propulsion system is considered to design PHM, in the terms of architecture and functionalities. The integrated prognostics is described and designed. An inference engine is proposed. The designing and the function of integrated diagnosis of Prognostics and Health Management for Aircraft Propulsion System are achieved. And it has great value for engineering applications.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124315256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an appropriate transformer lifetime model is recognized as the key for the accurate replacement volume prediction. Since transformer failures are rare events in most of the electric utilities, industry-wide reliability data reflecting global perspective on transformer lifetime are recognized as good sources for formulating baseline models. A Bayesian Updating procedure is then proposed to incorporate the prior knowledge on the distribution of transformer lifetime (the baseline model) with available field failure data. Sequentially updating the model whenever new failure occurs allows the existing lifetime model to be improved in a progressive manner.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124049351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper aims to introduce the basic algorithm of PE firstly, then verify PE using simulated signal, which shows that PE is feasible for fault diagnosis. Finally, the whole life vibration data of a rolling bearing is taken as an example, comparing with variation characteristics of mean square value obtained from the vibration signal, it is well proved that the early abnormity character of vibration signal could be successfully detected by the PE early before the fault occurred. The algorithm of PE was very simple and effective for early fault diagnosis, which supported the feasible idea for the on-line fault diagnosis, so this method will play a key role in the predictive maintenance.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127991729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a cooling fan assembly, fan bearing failure is a major part which causes noise, vibration; reduction in rotation speed, or even locks the motor. It is necessary to conduct research on the life assessment of fan bearings. This paper presents a vibration-based fan bearing prognosis and health evaluation through continuous-wavelet transform with ACFIs. The autocorrelation function indicator (ACFI) was used for determining the coefficients of continuous-wavelet transform (CWT). A cooling fan accelerated life test was conducted to collect the lifetime vibration data of fan bearing. In addition, comparisons between the frequency spectrum of the proposed method and some commonly used methods were conducted to evaluate performance of this method. The work presented in this paper provides a promising way for finding the fault characteristic frequencies and detecting the work state of fan bearing.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128458440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the problem of designing and development of a data-driven multiple sensor fault detection and isolation (MSFDI) algorithm for nonlinear processes is investigated. The proposed scheme is based on an evolving multi-Takagi Sugeno framework in which each sensor output is estimated using a model derived from the available input-output measurement. Our proposed MSFDI algorithm is applied to continuously stirred tank reactor sensor fault detection and isolation. Simulation results demonstrate and validate the performance capabilities of our proposed MSFDI algorithm.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128183460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cyclic spectral density of amplitude modulation and frequency modulation processes characteristic of gear vibration signals is deduced, and its properties in joint cyclic frequency-frequency domain are summarized. The performance of cyclic spectral analysis in gear fault diagnosis is illustrated by the vibration signal analysis of a gearbox under normal and faulty status.
