Failure mode analysis, failure mechanism analysis method and improvement measures will be taken after the test to eliminate defects, and to improve the product's reliability. Based on Physics of Failure (PoF) theory, which regards fault or failure as the main research object, RET can be used to find ultimate stress for products, analyze the changes of the performance indexes and identify products' weak links and sensitive stresses within limited funds and test time. It can also provide some information for PHM such as monitoring positions and parameters. This paper introduces how we implemented RET on a single board computer in detail, the procedure includes stress analysis, designing test program, determination of the monitoring parameters, data collection and analysis. Results show that monitoring parameters of the reset chip, voltage converter and FLASH chip of the single board computer obviously change during the RET of temperature. Especially, Output of voltage converter is very sensitive to high temperature stress, and the change trend becomes more and more obvious with the change of temperature. Output signal of an IC chip, whose function is temperature sensor, becomes abnormal at 125°C. Therefore, in the implementation process of PHM reliability level of sensors must be higher than devices they monitored. All of output parameters are sensitive to random vibration.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123598724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An empirical model is adopted to emulate the battery degradation trend; real-time measurements are employed to update the model. In order to better deal with prognostics uncertainties arising from many sources in the prediction such as battery unit-to-unit variations, an online model update scheme is proposed in a particle filtering based framework. Filtered data within a moving window are used to adjust the model's parameter values in a real-time manner based on nonlinear least-squares optimization. The proposed approach is studied via experimental data, and the results are discussed.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125477266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One way to improve the FCS durability is usage of advanced diagnostic methods in the context of holistic control. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is for this purpose one of the more promising diagnostic methods because of its non-invasivity and ability to distinguish between the flooding and drying out of the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM), a key part of each fuel-cell in a stack. Namely, a proper wetness of the stack membranes has an essential impact on the overall fuel cells system performance. This paper deals with the employment of EIS to commercially available PEM FCS. It presents the measuring system, describes EIS methodology, measurements, data processing, calculation procedures and final results.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128763532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An introduction to the health monitoring of civil infrastructures is given first. Two main categories of current NDE techniques are presented, including the linear NDE methods and nonlinear NDE methods. Three representative techniques in each category are introduced in detail. Limitations of current techniques are discussed and the future direction for the health monitoring of civil infrastructure systems, in terms of several promising NDE techniques, is described finally.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"126 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120893460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The types of the spacecraft telemetry data include the slow change, periodic change, abrupt change and the combination of the above three changes. This paper firstly analyzes the spacecraft telemetry data change rule. Secondly, the telemetry data is decomposed into 3 types, which is the trend, seasonal and random component, through the method of X-11. After that, the different prediction methods, such as the AR linear regression method, the BP neural network method, the nonparametric regression method, are taken respectively to predict the long-term performance trend of the above 3 types of the telemetry data. Finally, the predicted data using the above methods are fused to form the final prediction result, and the decay factor between the predicted data and the original data is computed. Furthermore, the experiment result shows the proposed prediction method can be effectively applied to the prediction of the performance trend of the spacecraft telemetry data, and has strong practical significance in the field of the spacecraft engineering project.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120953972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Debris carries a lot of information of running devices. Inductive sensor is wildly used in online detection of oil debris. But most of the former studies are based on the single-layer solenoid model of the inductive sensor. In this paper, the basic principle of the multilayer inductive wear debris sensor is introduced. According to the theory of electromagnetic field the magnetic field along the axis of sensor is presented. Then, the output characteristic model of the debris sensor is proposed. Based on the model, the output characteristic of the inductive debris sensor is numerically simulated with different sensor's design parameters by using matlab, the theoretic model and numerical simulation can provide more accurate guideline to the parameter optimization for the design of the inductive debris sensor.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121497097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The waveform of the data in the propagation channel for the fault condition recognition is designed with the Kurtosis of the measured data in time domain. The sequential hypothesis testing framework is proposed when hard decisions are made with adequate confidence. The distinguished characteristic of the channel recognition is that it operates in a closed loop and makes constant optimization in response to its changing understanding of the channel. The fault condition recognition of the gearbox is to update the multiple target hypothesis/class based on the measured data, customize waveform as the class probabilities changes, and make conclusion when the sufficient understanding of the propagation channel is achieved.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126446523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, the vital parts, which are expensive, fragile, or with complex and critical functions, can be confirmed through experience, field data or FMEA method. This paper presents a new method to provide a list contains all components and potential failure points which need to be paid attention to at the scheming stage. The electronic designers can make a decision if the weak points of the electronic product are possible and necessary to take any prognostication and health management technique. In this method, Numerical Heat Transfer (NHT) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) have to be applied on the electronic product to obtain the localized environment condition firstly. And based on the failure of physics theory, various failure models, which describe material thermal mismatch as well as the fatigue crack caused by vibration, can be used to identify the failure time, failure mode and mechanism of every component and other potential failure points. Consequently, the vital parts of the electronic product which work under harsh environment and may lead to critical failure can be focused seriously, while the capacity parameters should be monitored during the whole life-cycle. Additionally, the alternative method shown in this paper is applied on an avionic printed circuit assembly as the cased study.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126471887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some suspected faults could be found through symptom analysis combined with a priori knowledge, however it is very important to achieve effective diagnosis with a series of uncertain and unreliable factors. This paper presents a novel fault diagnosis method for satellite systems based on multivalue logic inference with semi-tensor product of matrices. Firstly, the multivalue logic methodology is employed to define fault symptoms and conditions as propositions thus the logical values of various propositions can be expressed as vectors. In this way, the multivalue logic inference is implemented by some fast operations with the semi-tensor product of matrices which extends matrix product operations to any case of incompatible dimension matrices. Then the probabilities of suspected faults can be found through mathematical calculation of multivalue logic, according to which the diagnosis decision is made for various faults and the corresponding spare switch is carried out to guarantee the online safety of satellite systems. Finally the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified and validated by some simulation experiment results and its advantages are also remarked briefly.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126613215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we develop the ultrasonic model of Finite Element Method (FEM) for the material crack detection in a two-dimensional geometry. The FEM Model is established by the geometry of the defect and the piezoelectric transducers with the finite element analysis software ANSYS. The reflected signals in ultrasonic techniques for the defect were simulated using the plane strain elements. The method with FEM for modeling the time-of-flight diffraction technique (TOFD) for the detection of the thick material (Thickness>;15mm) is proposed, which is based on the diffraction phenomenon. The results from the simulation model are compared to the experimental signal to show the effectiveness of the FEM model.","PeriodicalId":444815,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE 2012 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-2012 Beijing)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127129334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
