Franz","doi":"10.1553/moegg161s379","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1553/moegg161s379","url":null,"abstract":"Vienna’s housing market serves as a posterchild example for affordable and social housing that includes the heritage of the “Red Vienna” housing projects, the city’s “Soft Urban Renewal Programme” as well as current housing projects in newly built urban development areas. Today, many European cities are suffering from tight housing markets and increasing rents, so in recent years the success of the housing market in Vienna has become ever more an object of interest. But also the Viennese housing market has been undergoing dynamic transformation in recent years. Although a large number of new dwellings have been created in both, the private and the public sector over the past ten years, rising rents are showing increasing demand for housing. This development is not just caused by growing population numbers, but also by shifting investment interests in the Vienna housing market, which produce affordability and access restrictions. Adequate and affordable housing is currently becoming a challenge for residents in Vienna. Over four consecutive semesters, Yvonne Franz and Elisabeth Gruber have been collecting evidence for housing market transformations by organising three-day fieldtrips for Master’s students at the University of Vienna. In addition to examining recent urban development forms and their resonance in the wider academic discourse, this article also shows how fieldtrips can be used as an important didactic tool in graduate education.","PeriodicalId":44373,"journal":{"name":"Mitteilungen Der Osterreichischen Geographischen Gesellschaft","volume":"45 1","pages":"379-394"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73192880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Durch die Berucksichtigung symbolischer Ethnizitat in Form des kulturlandschaftlichen Erbes thematisiert die Arbeit daruber hinaus das Nachwirken von Raumstrukturen im Sinne einer „longue duree“. Nach einer theoretischen Grundorientierung werden die „Methode der Kontaktpersonen“ sowie die fur die Analyse persistenter Kulturlandschaftselemente relevanten Arbeitsgrundlagen, auf welchen die Untersuchungen vor Ort basieren, vorgestellt. Vor allem durch Assimilation und zu spat erfolgten Minderheitenschutz (1999) betragt die Anzahl der deutschsprachigen Kanaltaler aktuell weniger als hundert Personen, die der Slowenischsprachigen knapp uber dreihundert. Insofern kann noch immer von einem „Klein-Europa“ gesprochen werden, wenngleich die traditionelle Viersprachigkeit – neben den beiden Minderheitensprachen auch Italienisch und Friulanisch – mittlerweile fast verloren gegangen ist. Generationswechsel, Intermarriage sowie der uberaus starke Bevolkerungsruckgang haben diese Entwicklung seit den 1990er Jahren verstarkt. Reminiszenzen an die autochthone Kanaltaler Bevolkerung spiegeln sich jedoch in Form symbolischer Ethnizitat im materiellen und immateriellen kulturellen Erbe wider. Dieses wird auch von der mehrheitlich italienischsprachigen Bevolkerung zunehmend als Bereicherung wahrgenommen und starkt in zunehmendem Mas eine neue, nicht mehr ethnolinguistisch, sondern regional konnotierte Identitat.","PeriodicalId":44373,"journal":{"name":"Mitteilungen Der Osterreichischen Geographischen Gesellschaft","volume":"44 1","pages":"9-34"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88886601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hübscher","doi":"10.1553/moegg161s63","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1553/moegg161s63","url":null,"abstract":"Das Megaprojekt „Santa Cruz Verde 2030“ in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spanien, hat das Ziel, die innerstadtisch gelegene Erdolraffinerie in ein urbanes und nutzungsgemischtes Quartier zu verwandeln. Die vorliegende Arbeit entwickelt die These, dass das Vorhaben in umliegenden Wohnquartieren Prozesse der Gentrification auslosen konnte. Ziel der Untersuchung ist es, Vulnerabilitaten von Bewohnergruppen und Wohnstandorten herauszuarbeiten. Hierbei wird der Ansatz der Vulnerabilitatsanalyse aufgegriffen und um eine Clusteranalyse erweitert. Theoriebasiert werden acht soziale und elf stadtebauliche Variablen zusammengestellt, mit denen Gentrification ex-ante untersucht wird. Die statistische Uberprufung zeigt, dass entgegen anderen Studien Variablen wie „Auslanderanteil“ und „Kinderzahl“ nicht als Anzeiger sozialer Vulnerabilitat im Untersuchungsraum interpretiert werden konnen. Basierend auf Zensusdaten und der Bewertung von 3852 Immobilien wird anhand von insgesamt sechs Clustern eine ausgepragte Zunahme der Vulnerabilitat vom Zentrum hin zur Peripherie festgestellt. Das Quartier Los Llanos wird dabei einer tieferfuhrenden Analyse unterzogen, weil es einerseits in der quantitativen Analyse als Sonderfall hervortritt und andererseits aufgrund seiner Historie als Referenzpunkt fur das Megaprojekt „Santa Cruz Verde 2030“ gilt. Basierend auf drei Experteninterviews wird der Stadtentwicklungsprozess, der sich durch die aktive Rolle offentlicher Akteure im Aufwertungs- und Verdrangungsprozess charakterisiert, nachgezeichnet. Hieraus werden funf Thesen abgeleitet, welche die Diskussion um einen nachhaltigen Urbanismus fur „Santa Cruz Verde 2030“ anstosen sollen. Neben den Aspekten Burgerbeteiligung und Planungstransparenz werden auch soziale Durchmischung und die Qualitat offentlicher Raume als zentrale Anforderungen identifiziert.","PeriodicalId":44373,"journal":{"name":"Mitteilungen Der Osterreichischen Geographischen Gesellschaft","volume":"1 1","pages":"63-90"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88660109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
