AI is a subfield of computer science that develops software and tools that mimic human intelligence. AI offers advantages over traditional methods for handling ambiguous circumstances. In addition, AI-based solutions can successfully replace testing when identifying engineering design parameters, saving a lot of time and resources. AI can also increase computer efficiency, decrease mistake rates, and speed up decision-making. Recently, there has been a lot of interest in machine learning (ML), a new area of cutting-edge intelligent methods for use in structural engineering. Consequently, this work presents a study on the economic management of building and construction projects based on creating ML techniques. It begins with an overview of the value of applying AI techniques in building and construction industry. The analysis of the prediction of reinforced concrete’s compressive strength while taking cost into account is then done using empirical data based on a case study. Accordingly, the findings showed that the support vector regression (SVR) and k-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) intelligence techniques are helpful in the construction business for controlling the strength of concrete based on sustainable cost reduction.","PeriodicalId":437898,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Review of Civil Engineering","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128522097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This might occur owing to a variety of factors. The aim of the study was to identify the factors impacting high-rise housing project costs in India, that are likely regulatable by head contractors. A questionnaire survey was used to perform this study with a group of related professionals from firms in the private as well as public sectors, having experience in high-rise housing projects. The frequency and impact of each factor were assessed based on the perspectives of the participants. The factors were then rated in order of the increasing Index of Relative Importance. The study identified significant factors that are likely to be regulated by head contractors, namely, productivity of labor, the performance of suppliers and sub-contractors, productivity of equipment, poor management of the site, scheduling, controlling and monitoring, inexperienced project managers, ineffective procurement planning of materials, ineffective procurement of equipment, delivery of materials (shortage or delay) and shortage of skilled labor.","PeriodicalId":437898,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Review of Civil Engineering","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131796262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When producing material managing with the goal of fulfilling the demands of production and building. Materials should be kept to a minimum, and the amount of capital should be decreased. in order to choose the best manufacturing scenario and manage the inventory efficiently. In this situation, simulation offers a suitable method for quickly testing suggested scenarios. Building information modelling (BIM) offers a practical and comprehensive way of exchanging data among various contexts, which is necessary for simulation models. Thus, the information extrapolated from the BIM model is used in this study to propose a mix of discrete-event and continuous simulation that simplifies inventory management for large scale construction. This strategy creates a schedule and guarantees consistency and efficiency of the workflow. This research will provide a brief overview of the inventory management process in order to give some insight into why these techniques are so necessary. We’ll also talk about various ways that inventories can be managed and review some of the popular BIM-based RDBMS systems (Relational Database Management System) on the market. The compression of different types of inventory management workflow concludes that a more efficient work process, increased activity, and less input time and burden compared to a management system without BIM. These results showed that construction project management performed better under the suggested BIM-based approach.","PeriodicalId":437898,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Review of Civil Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128762744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Daily and occasional trips consume a significant time in our whole life span. A comfortable and safe travel is prime need of any individual. Noise is an important parameter which defines the quality of life. Vehicular noise not only affects the outer environment of the vehicle but it also causes discomfort for the occupants travelling inside the vehicle. Noise reduction during journey is an important aspect for a comfortable travel. We are constantly exposed to various types of noise generated from vibrations. These vibrations produce longitudinal waves which are intercepted by our ear. Sensitivity of our auditory system depends on various factors, and age of individual is an important parameter. Apart from this the exposure of noise during lifetime is important criteria for long term auditory functions. Exposure of noise during travel is gaining significant importance as it decides our comfort level, and sleep duration. In this paper we examine the noise pressure level (dBA) during travel through filed data collection. The trips discussed are on road, rail and air.","PeriodicalId":437898,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Review of Civil Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129972068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Plastic waste is non-biodegradable waste that cannot decompose and creates environmental pollution. There is a big question about circular economy and recycling after the usage of plastic and their sustainable management. Most of the research presented that plastic waste is double every decade. Usually, bricks are made of clay, and due to excessive use of the clay, it shows results in resource depletion and environmental degradation. The present study explores a critical review of valuable and eco-friendly ways to minimize the environmental impact of waste plastic. Therefore, plastic wastes are used to prepare the bricks. It is the most economical solution in the construction industry. For this work, masonry brick blocks with different batching proportion of traditional raw materials with plastic were casted. Sample A was prepared with different ratio of sand and plastic pulp while sample B was organized with different ratio of powdered sample A1) and cement. Then they were allowed to dehydrating to confirm free from moisture. This research was compared density, water absorption, compressive strength and flexural strength of the sample A, sample B, and locally available conventional brick.  According to the analysis the sample A1 was exhibited the peak value of compressive strength and flexural strength of 280 kg-cm-2and 70 kg-cm-2 respectively which is three times higher than the commercially available product in Sri Lanka. In addition to this, water absorption was revealed 1.23% which is six times lower than the sample brick and it was displayed an acceptable value of density (1872.45 kg-3). So, sample A1 (1:1, plastic: sand) is highly recommended for construction purposes.","PeriodicalId":437898,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Review of Civil Engineering","volume":"112 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123227043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, design wind pressure is calculated and compared using IS 875 (Part 3) 1987 and the revised code IS 875 (Part 3) 2015. The concept have been applied to three different building heights i.e. 20, 40, and 60 m having same plan 1010 m2. It has been observed that the impact of wind pressure on the building rises with the building height along with the fact that the design wind pressures obtained from revised code show more pressures in comparison to the old one. Therefore, the design based on the revised code will be more close to the reality as it incorporates risk factor, directionality factor, area averaging factor, and combination factors. Also, the module developed for wind loads can be readily used by the researchers/designers for the better understanding of programming and the design loads.","PeriodicalId":437898,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Review of Civil Engineering","volume":"468 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124469959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material Planning efficiency is critical to completing a project on scheduled time and on budget. This research paper focuses primarily on inventory control and materials planning using BIM process as this are the important pillars of material management. The S-curve analysis is used to determine how much the estimated materials cost differs from the market materials cost. Engineers and contractors are interviewed to determine the main reasons for this. Inventory management techniques such as ABC classification and economic order quantity (EOQ) analysis are performed. In most cases, S-curve analysis shows that actual material costs are greater than estimated material costs. BIM-based ABC and EOQ analyses are used to continuously maintain sufficient inventory, protect inventory materials from damage, reduce inventory costs, solve inventory problems, and maintain optimal inventory levels. A sensitivity check is applied to the results of the EOQ analysis. “The use of ABC classification and EOQ analysis can help to alleviate the stock-out of A class and B class materials that occur on building sites. Following the implementation of these easy inventory control strategies, the total inventory expenditure is reduced”.","PeriodicalId":437898,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Review of Civil Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122694797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
