Nehinbe","doi":"10.1109/ISMS.2010.21","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ISMS.2010.21","url":null,"abstract":"False positives are critical problems of network intrusion detection systems that use pattern matching algorithm to detect network intrusions. The algorithm is unable to eliminate false packets with short lifespan. Secondly, the algorithm lacks the capability to manage the trade-offs between false and true positives. Consequently, system administrators are frequently swamped with massive false alerts from intrusive packets that cannot achieve their objectives and unfortunately, such alerts are often mixed with few true positives. However, how to substantiate these two generic groups of alerts without incurring additional overheads are classical research issues. Therefore, we present clustering-based adaptive P-Filter model to investigate false positives. Alerts from Snort were the input to the P-Filter model and they were clustered with some sequential filtering criteria. In this framework several colonies of artificial ants are utilized. These colonies are working cooperatively to solve an optimization problem using some interaction technique. Exploration technique is doing an essential job in this framework. This technique is responsible for directing the activity of utilized colonies towards the different parts of the huge search space. This paper describes the newly proposed IMACO framework and proposes an effective exploration technique. Computational tests show that the new exploration technique can furthermore improve the IMACO performance. Generally, lighting will consume from 20% until 50% of the electricity consumption. The efficient and effective use of lighting can offer major energy and cost saving. This research investigates and analyses the energy management in a building and presents the design of energy efficient lighting systems. The first part propose a design of energy efficient lighting which will help users to determine the ideal number of luminaries needed in certain room without reducing the quality of lighting. The design was develop via Matlab. The second part is an audit and cost study to demonstrate the wastefulness of commercial, industrial, residential and community lighting. Based on the study, the design for improvement of current lighting system called Lamp Replacement had been proposed. But such trackers lose their worth when the automobile, in which they are installed, reaches a location where the GPS data is improperly received or not received at all. Such vulnerable locations include underpasses, tunnels and underground parking lots. A system design, which can be used to circumvent the aforementioned problem in association with conventional GPS tracker devices, is described in this paper. As the first tool in this area, it shows simultaneously three synchronized views (or perspectives) of the current network state in one window: (a) An enriched text view showing events line-by-line, marked up using colors and symbols in order to improve readability, (b) the 2-D bird’s eye view known from other simulators, (c) a newly proposed view depicting the development of network state as a graph focusing on the visualization of communication patterns on intra- and internode level. This is a novel mixer that not only frequency translates the RF signal to baseband directly but also avoids the need for a discrete filter by attenuating the third and fifth harmonics using the harmonic rejection structure. The proposed core uses 1/2×LO generation scheme to overcome LO self-mixing and IMD2 related problems common in conventional Direct Conversion Receivers.
