Often classification into two large classes, such as Galactic and extra-galactic, is considered. However, there are many more physical classes of sources. For example, there are 23 classes in the latest Fermi-LAT 4FGL-DR3 catalog. In this note we subdivide one of the large classes into two subclasses in view of a more general multi-class classification of gamma-ray sources. Each of the three large classes still encompasses several of the physical classes. We compare the performance of classifications into two and three classes. We calculate the receiver operating characteristic curves for two-class classification, where in case of three classes we sum the probabilities of the sub-classes in order to obtain the class probabilities for the two large classes. We also compare precision, recall, and reliability diagrams in the two- and three-class cases.","PeriodicalId":434189,"journal":{"name":"GI-Jahrestagung","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122278669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the classification of astronomical sources in images is challenging. Morphological classification of radio galaxies could be automated with deep learning models that require large sets of labelled training data. Here, we demonstrate the use of generative models, specifically Wasserstein GANs (wGAN), to generate artificial data for different classes of radio galaxies. Subsequently, we augment the training data with images from our wGAN. We find that a simple fully-connected neural network for classification can be improved significantly by including generated images into the training set.","PeriodicalId":434189,"journal":{"name":"GI-Jahrestagung","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131124439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to a high entry barrier of building and maintaining a dedicated IT team as well as the difficulties of real-world data (RWD) compared to standard benchmark data. To address this challenge, we discuss the implementation and concepts of Chameleon, a semi-AutoML framework. The goal of Chameleon is fast and scalable development and deployment of production-ready machine learning systems into the workflow of SMEs. We first discuss the RWD challenges faced by SMEs. After, we outline the central part of the framework which is a model and loss-function zoo with RWD-relevant defaults. Subsequently, we present how one can use a templatable framework in order to automate the experiment iteration cycle, as well as close the gap between development and deployment. Finally, we touch on our testing framework component allowing us to investigate common model failure modes and support best practices of model deployment governance.","PeriodicalId":434189,"journal":{"name":"GI-Jahrestagung","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128593693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, many different definitions for ensuring non-discrimination in algorithmic decision systems have been put forward. In this paper, we first briefly describe the EU law framework covering cases of algorithmic discrimination. Second, we present an algorithm that harnesses optimal transport to provide a flexible framework to interpolate between different fairness definitions. Third, we show that important normative and legal challenges remain for the implementation of algorithmic fairness interventions in real-world scenarios. Overall, the paper seeks to contribute to the quest for flexible technical frameworks that can be adapted to varying legal and normative fairness constraints.","PeriodicalId":434189,"journal":{"name":"GI-Jahrestagung","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128089574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That is why finding stations playing the preferred content is a tough task for a potential listener, especially due to the overwhelming number of offered choices. Here, recommender systems usually step in but existing content-based approaches rely on metadata and thus are constrained by the available data quality. Other approaches leverage user behavior data and thus do not exploit any domain-specific knowledge and are furthermore disadvantageous regarding privacy concerns. Therefore, we propose a new pipeline for the generation of audio-based radio station fingerprints relying on audio stream crawling and a Deep Autoencoder. We show that the proposed fingerprints are especially useful for characterizing radio stations by their audio content and thus are an excellent representation for meaningful and reliable radio station recommendations. Furthermore, the proposed modules are part of the HRADIO Communication Platform, which enables hybrid radio features to radio stations. It is released with a flexible open source license and enables especially small- and medium-sized businesses, to provide customized and high quality radio services to potential listeners.","PeriodicalId":434189,"journal":{"name":"GI-Jahrestagung","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127066110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transmission system operators (TSOs) impose stringent requirements on the reliability and accurate controllability of power plants that are susceptible to qualify for control reserve provision. It needs to be discussed whether these requirements have to evolve to enable the participation of renewables in control reserve markets. As part of the REstable research project, an innovative ICT infrastructure was set up for linking German and French wind and PV farms in a transnational VPP. Key performance indicators (KPIs) derived from technical requirements of the German TSOs are proposed and applied to quantify the quality of control reserve provision by the VPP in physical field tests","PeriodicalId":434189,"journal":{"name":"GI-Jahrestagung","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131910894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
