Its main theorist, the Valencian writer Joan Fuster, turned into a totem of the anti-Franco struggle. All the political cultures in Catalonia, the Valencian Country and the Balearic Islands debated on Fuster's national proposal. The revolutionary left did not stay out of the discussion. The whole amalgam of acronyms and organizations that were part of this political culture , were bound to debate on the topic . Nevertheless, the discussion was always lagging behind the political events as well as the intellectual debates which nationalism and the majority of the leftist movement carried out. This study offers a socio-discursive analysis of the Chapter entitled ‘Spain in the current world crisis’. Carrero presents the national-catholic postulates of Franco’s regime to analyse world events taking place at that time, aiming to downplay their links with the defeated fascist Nazi government and to take advantage of the Cold War Anticommunism. The analysis of the party during its most relevant stage, between 1969 and 1980, allows us to follow the genesis and evolution of a political space, Esquerra d’Alliberament Nacional, in the years of late Francoism and transition. Amongst them, only one became consolidated, the Partit Socialista de Mallorca –PSM–, which lasted for decades and amassed a considerable social, cultural and political influence. And yet, it failed badly at obtaining representation in the Spanish Court. However, it won some representation in the pre-autonomic bodies and, subsequently, in the Parliament of the Balearic Islands. Likewise, it became a noteworthy political force in the local elections of 1979 and 1983.
