Media is the part of the communication process because basically learning is a process of communication. Learning media in the form of a module is a supporting device to improve student’s achievement. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of historical learning by using local history module to improve the student’s achievement in senior high school on the historical material of the struggle to defend freedom. The study population was all social science students of class XII academic year 2015/2016. The research design was the group design of pre-test and post-test. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling, obtained that class XII of Social Science 1 as an experimental class and class XII of Social Science 4 as the controlled class. The results showed the post-test average value of students’ achievement on an experimental class at 79,64 and 76,78 for the controlled classes. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the application of local history module proved effectively in improving the students achievement. Proses pembelajaran merupakan proses komunikasi yang berarti adanya proses penyampaian pesan dari seseorang narasumber kepada penerima pesan. Media merupakan bagian dari proses komunikasi, karena pada dasarnya pembelajaran merupakan proses komunikasi. Media pembelajaran berupa modul sebagai pendukung untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pembelajaran sejarah dengan menggunakan modul sejarah lokal terhadap peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa pada salah satu SMA pada materi sejarah perjuangan mempertahankan kemerdekaan. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XII IPS tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretest dan postest group design. Teknik sampling yang digunakan yaitu cluster random sampling, diperoleh kelas XII IPS 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XII IPS 4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukan rata-rata nilai posttest prestasi belajar siswa kelas eksperimen sebesar 79,64 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 76,78. The design of learning model developed in the form of contextual inquiry learning model. This Research and Development covers three stages of research that are: Needs analysis, Development of contextual inquiry learning model, and Trial of learning design. The research instruments used to collect data consisted of validation sheets by material experts, designers, and linguists, and a description test to measure the skills of the science process. It used descriptive statistics for data analysis. A preliminary study conducted on 40 students attending microbiology lesson indicated the need for microbiology teaching design which applies active learning process based on contextual inquiry. The study is a quasi-experiment study with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study was 245 tenth graders majoring in science at SMA 4 Singaraja. The sample of this study was 67 students distributed to two different classes. The data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The result of the study shows that there was critical thinking skills gaps between the students using PBL and students using the direct instruction method (DIM). The average score of PBL group had higher average critical thinking skills score (posttest) then the MDI group, in which the scores of PBLM group were in adequate category (M = 54,84; SD = 14,50), meanwhile the scores of DIM group were in low category (M = 43,05; SD = 14,29).  Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh model problem based learning (MPBL) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran fisika di SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design . Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja yang terdiri dari 245 siswa. Pemilihan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan random assignment. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 67 siswa yang terdistribusi dalam dua kelas berbeda. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan ANAKOVA satu jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa antara siswa yang berlajar dengan MPBL dan siswa yang belajar dengan MDI. Data collection was done by using documentation, think aloud technique, and focus group discussion. The data analysis was done by using Glaser and Strauss model. The results showed that 91.1% of Civic and Pancasila Education students completed their academic assignments by copying from the Internet. Internal factors consisted of laziness, hedonistic attitude, the tendency to get everything instantly, and lack of awareness about the importance of developing positive mentality and noble character. Meanwhile, external factors consisted of the availability of information on the Internet and the type of task assigned. The effect of such tendency could be categorized into two kinds: short-term and long-term effect. The short-term effect was that the mastery of students’ knowledge was only on the level of “knowing” (C1) and slightly shifted to the level of “understanding” (C2), incomplete and undetailed information about the materials, the materials were not stored in the long term memory, and the students’ way of thinking was not systematic and linear. The long-term effect included the students’ cognitive structure as well as their character which would not be well developed. There were two solutions to address the issue, namely instrumental and mental solution. Instrumental solution included the provision of textbooks, reference books, and the courses’ list of reference books, while mental solution included developing students’ awareness about the importance of scientific way of thinking, building a good attitude and character in everyday’s life, including in the learning process. Keywords : character, cognitive structure, information technology, teaching and learning Abstrak : Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana mahasiswa menyelesaikan tugas akademiknya, alasan mengapa mereka menyelesaikan tugas akademiknya dengan cara-cara tersebut, dampak yang ditimbulkan, dan bagaimana cara mengatasinya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan dokumentasi, think aloud, dan focus group discussion (FGD). Analisis dilakukan dengan model analisis Glaser dan Strauss. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan ditemukan 91,1% mahasiswa Civic Education menyelesaikan tugas akademiknya dengan menyalin-rekat dari internet. Faktor yang menyebabkannya adalah: (1) faktor dari dalam berupa malas, hedonis, instan, dan kurangnya kesadaran tentang pentingnya membangun struktur mental dan karakter yang mulia. (2) faktor dari luar berupa tersedianya semua jenis informasi di internet dan jenis tugas yang diberikan. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative and classroom action research, which were implemented with two cycles, the first cycle and the second cycle. The research instruments were the lesson study observation sheet and students’ activity observation sheet during the learning process. The results showed that: (1) the process of lesson study based instructional management was a cyclical process involving the development of the lesson plans, the implementation of learning (do, open class), and the evaluation of learning (see), and (2) there was an improvement in terms of students’ activeness in following the lecturing activity when lesson study based instructional management was implemented. Keywords : instructional management, lesson study, students’ activity Abstrak :Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mendeskripsikan proses manajemen pembelajaran berbasis lesson study; dan (2) meningkatkan keaktifan mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan dengan menerapkan manajemen pembelajaran berbasis lesson study. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah deskriptif kualitatif dan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), yang dilaksanakan dengan dua siklus, yaitu Siklus I dan Siklus II. The method of this research was survey. The study involved 364 students from some of senior high schools in Ngawi. The data were analyzed using path analysis. There were four students who were considered outliers and should therefore be excluded in the study, resulting in the final data from 360 students. The results of this research showed that there was a direct relationship between students’ scores from the school-based assessment with students’ motivation and their scores in national examination, but there was no relationship between the school-based scores with students’ readiness. In addition, there was an indirect relationship between motivation and school-based scores with readiness. The research also indicated that there was a negative correlation between school-based scores with readiness, motivation, and students’ scores in the national examination in mathematics. Keywords : motivation, national examination, path analysis, readiness, school-based assessment Abstrak : Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan nilai sekolah dengan kesiapan, motivasi, dan nilai ujian nasional. Metode yang digunakan adalah survey. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa dari beberapa SMA di Kabupaten Ngawi yang berjumlah 364 siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis jalur (path analysis). Setelah dilakukan uji prasyarat terdapat empat data yang merupakan outlier dan harus dibuang, sehingga sampel akhir sebesar 360 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan langsung antara nilai sekolah dengan motivasi dan nilai ujian nasional matematika tetapi tidak terdapat hubungan antara nilai sekolah dengan kesiapan. Selain itu terdapat hubungan tidak langsung antara motivasi dengan nilai ujian nasional dengan perantara kesiapan. Dalam penelitian ini juga menational examination scorejukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi negatif antara nilai sekolah dengan kesiapan, motivasi, dan nilai ujian nasional matematika siswa. The research resulted in the following conclusions: (1) the improvement of students’ mathematical CPS ability taught under SBL was higher than those who were taught using conventional method based on students’ gender, and (2) there was no interaction between learning model and gender on the improvement of students’ mathematical CPS ability. Keywords : female students, improvement of mathematical CPS ability, male students, SBL learning Abstrak : Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan CPS matematis siswa laki-laki dan perempuan sebagai akibat dari pembelajaran SBL. Penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini menerapkan dua model pembelajaran yaitu pembelajaran SBL dan pembelajaran konvensional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA di Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu tes kemampuan CPS matematis. Analisis data ditinjau berdasarkan gender siswa. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan: 1) peningkatan kemampuan CPS matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran SBL lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional ditinjau dari gender siswa; dan 2) tidak terdapat interaksi antara pembelajaran dan gender siswa terhadap peningkatan kemampuan CPS matematis. The objective of this research was to find out Senior High School students’ learning motivation level for physics subject. The subjects of this research were 60 students from Science Class of Senior High School 5 Surakarta who were randomly selected. A questionnaire was used as an instrument to measure students’ learning motivation. The result showed that students’ learning motivation in physics subject was categorized as medium level with an average score of 20.42. The percentage for each aspect was as follows: attention (24.33%), relevance (24.98%), confidence (24.33%), and satisfaction (25.71%). Keywords: ARCS, learning, motivation, physics Abstrak: Motivasi belajar merupakan daya dorong dari dalam diri siswa untuk belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat motivasi belajar siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas untuk mata pelajaran fisika. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta dengan subyek penelitian sebanyak 60 siswa jurusan MIPA yang dipilih secara random. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengukur motivasi belajar adalah angket. Angket motivasi dikembangkan berdasarkan aspek ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, tingkat motivasi belajar siswa untuk mata pelajaran fisika termasuk kategori sedang dengan rata-rata 20,42. Persentase dari masing-masing aspek motivasi belajar adalah Attention/perhatian (24,33%), Relevance/relevansi (24,98%), Confidence/percaya diri (24,33%) dan Satisfaction/kepuasan (25,71%).
