As an art of space experience, historical architecture education requires on-spot visiting for ancient buildings to have a comprehensive understanding of their historic value and technology. But this is time-consuming, laborious, and sometimes impossible for non-existent buildings. In this sense, virtual simulation can reconstruct historical scenes, even non-existent buildings, so it has great value for historical architecture learning. However, the current application of virtual simulation in historical architecture education is still in its infancy. Most of the virtual simulation experiments are limited to some specific knowledge topics or structure details, such as Dougong. Therefore, this study attempts to construct an online virtual simulation system including an RPG game program, a website, and a database, to provide students with a comprehensive and intensive learning experience. The study adopts the folk dwellings in southern Fujian, China as the teaching content. The related knowledge is divided into 5 levels and integrated into RPG story plots, interactive games and virtual scenes. In addition, an empirical experiment is carried out and the results show that students all appreciate the application of the system. This study has revealed that the virtual simulation is compatible with historical architecture education compared with traditional ways. It can provide insights also a useful tool for professional education in the digital era.","PeriodicalId":432459,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Educational Technology (ICET)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114743345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The recommendation problem in the education field is special, and it cannot be separated from subjective factors such as students' preference, expectations of performance and so on. The target of e-learning recommendation should be to enhance students' learning enthusiasm. In this work, we propose a novel course recommendation method for learners with multiple objectives and constraints. This method achieves the purpose of recommendation by generating a recommended course list, and employs the genetic algorithm to balance the constraints between various conditions to optimize the generated recommended course list. Experiments confirm that our approach has more advantages than baselines oriented to multiple constraints.","PeriodicalId":432459,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Educational Technology (ICET)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127434022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In light of the current situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, distance learning technologies are developing rapidly, making it necessary to ensure their effectiveness against the conventional offline full-time delivery of the educational services. Thus, the urgency of the research is caused by the emerging need to ensure the up-to-the-mark level of online studies which is becoming a global trend nowadays. So, the study pursued the goal of developing the estimation coefficients for measuring the effectiveness of the learning process delivery in the IT facilitated online mode and sharing the results of observations made throughout the pilot study. The appropriate usage of the evaluation models based on these indicators enables a more precise and accurate evaluation of the learning process efficiency in terms of both qualitative and quantitative criteria. To appraise the efficiency of the learning-teaching process, cross comparison of conventional (classical, offline) and distant (remote, online) study modes was performed. Thus, the thorough comparative analysis of the indicators allowed to identify the most important of them, both qualitative and quantitative ones, and synthesize them taking into consideration the relevant impact factors. Based on the further comprehensive analysis rational values of the estimation coefficients were identified and clarified. As a result, it was made possible to formulate and approximate the coefficients which ensure prompt and relatively accurate evaluation of the quality of the learning process delivered online.","PeriodicalId":432459,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Educational Technology (ICET)","volume":"443 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122153721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Effective leaders can have great impact to successful school performance hence, it is necessary to assess their leadership readiness to ensure qualified pool of teacher leaders. In this study, the Teacher Leadership Readiness Survey served as the main instrument in order to determine their leadership readiness. It was administered during a webinar-workshop on the conduct of action research. Reflection journals and abstract analysis were used to triangulate the results of the survey questionnaire. A total of 33 respondents from a private school in the Philippines voluntarily participated. Results of the questionnaire show that the respondents' perception of school culture, teacher leadership demand, and supply are high. Relatedly, findings revealed that shared leadership is evident among the respondents. The themes generated from the reflection journals and abstract analysis affirm the high perceptions on the different leadership constructs of the study. Results can serve as benchmark in creating programs to translate the perceptions to actual practice, advance the leadership qualities of teachers, and effectuate succession planning for future leaders. Further studies can focus on the explicit and direct effects of teacher leaders to school improvement and student performance.","PeriodicalId":432459,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Educational Technology (ICET)","volume":"167 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122251629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this research, a conceptual framework called the Sustainable Research Quality Assessment Model (SRQAM) was developed to evaluate research quality indicators such as the number of publications per year and citations per year in higher education institutions. Subsequently, RQAM was applied to six selected universities in Morocco in order to observe its applicability. SRQAM consists of five steps: Duration determination, selection of research quality indicators such as citations per year (CPY), and trend indicators such as the number of publications (NP), data extraction and statistical analyses. Although paper publication and citations play a vital role in higher education institutions, the literature on publication activities is relatively scarce. Several factors influence the publication and citation rate of the university. Therefore, this article focuses on research quality assessment and discusses publication activities by exploring factors that may increase or decrease the publication and citation rate of higher education institutions. The application of this research model in six institutions from 1996 to 2020 shows that during this period, the highest averages for academic staff (AS), citations per year (CPY) and number of publications (NP) ($text{AS}=2004.6+317.3, text{CPY}=5954.6pm 2642.7, text{NP}=749.1pm 684.2$) was at Mohammed V University, Rabat. SRQAM is a fundamental instrument for institutional research and assessment and can guide research policy.","PeriodicalId":432459,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Educational Technology (ICET)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124077387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
