However, to make the most out of them, it is necessary to rely on proper designs that consider not only the data to be displayed, but also the audience and the context. There are tools that already allow users to configure their displays without requiring programming skills, but this research project aims at exploring the automatic generation of information visualizations and dashboards in order to avoid the configuration process, and select the most suitable features of these tools taking into account their contexts. To address this problem, a domain engineering, and machine learning approach is proposed.","PeriodicalId":430095,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127527825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the outset, the School had to quickly devise an intervention plan that would prove effective with regard to the learning of its students. On the other hand, families also had to replan their lives so that, at home, they could collaborate with the School in supporting children and young people in dealing with everything that was asked for them exclusively through Technology. Teachers with less training in the field of Educational Technology, had to, in record time, modify their entire methodological intervention plan with their students, using a wide range of technological instruments, always aiming at learning of these, using technologies, and the use of digital platforms appears more quickly and instantly in a more consistent and permanent way, with a view to responding to the consequences that this pandemic has placed on the school community. The questionnaire was distributed using the Google Forms platform between 14 and 31 May 2020. The representative sample of the study subjects is composed of 536 questionnaires answered and validated, which taking into account the universe of teachers in Portugal, represents an actual assumed error of 4.23%.","PeriodicalId":430095,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128941395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Brazil, the suspension occurred at the beginning of the educational year, that start in March. This situation lasts for the entire first semester, leading institutions to move to online classes and changing the educational calendar for the next years. The reality of online classes leads to a discussion of a new pedagogical work, where the students and educators should understand how to deal with online learning and take most of the online tools. To achieve this is necessary to understand how students felt during the suspension of presential classes, the resources, and motivation that they have to continue to study. This work proposes a survey that measures three different components that can affect students in return of the online classes: resources that they have to study, feelings experienced during the suspension of the classes, and if they live in the city where they study. This survey was applied to an educational campus that attracts many students from other cities due to the quality of the education provided.","PeriodicalId":430095,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132488134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Improving comprehensive reading in the early years of schooling and designing and implementing effective and sustainable public policies has become an urgency. The purpose of this document is to present the current status of a research plan for a doctoral thesis, referred to create an intervention model based on the analysis of the results of the design and implementation in Chile of a public policy program that develops reading in Basic Education. An evaluation of the program's impact is proposed, together with a mixed study that allows for a joint analysis of the quantitative and qualitative results obtained. The expected results will make it possible to propose an intervention model that can be transferred to other public policies, of high interest to governments, especially in Latin America. The document is organized in six sections: an introduction and literature review that promotes research on the thesis, the hypothesis, research objectives, research approach and methods, results up to date and their validity, the status of the thesis and expected contributions. It is expected to contribute with an original work that offers future opportunities for researchers in relation to transfer this intervention model to other fields and the need of scalability of the reading development program with all its components.","PeriodicalId":430095,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131647501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the universities, this meant to go fully online overnight, which presented a number of challenges on the operational, didactical, and pedagogical levels. This paper is about how the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and, particularly, UPC's teacher commitment reacted to the situation, making a series of decisions and actions in almost every dimension of the university activity, as seen from the point of view of the Institute of Sciences of Education (ICE), the entity in charge of the training of the professors and the management of the Learning Management System (LMS) of the University based on Moodle. This LMS plus the G-Suite, which was deployed to professors and students in just one week, became the backbone of the Virtual Learning Environment(VLE) that the University had to rely on to complete successfully the academic course. The paper takes a quantitative approach, feeding on the data logs of the VLE and making a statistical analysis.","PeriodicalId":430095,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131656164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Language education software has evolved into mobile self-directed language-learning applications (SDLLAs). Although there has been research into the approaches and benefits of these apps as a whole, there has not been much investigation into which gameful approaches these apps are using. In this paper, relevant SDLLAs are analysed to extract information about their frequently used gamification elements. These elements are then compared to approaches used in other educational settings. The research method involved seeking out SDLLAs that are highly rated and have been downloaded numerous times, analysing the gameful design components and then comparing the data to other studies. The results of this paper deepen the understanding of language education development concerning gamification.","PeriodicalId":430095,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126630435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite the importance of teamwork within agile development teams, little is known about how teamwork affects agile teams within the higher education environment. This research studied the case of honors students in Information Systems from the University of Cape Town by testing the relationship between teamwork, team members' success, and team performance. Simple linear regression analysis was followed to determine teamwork's influence on team members' success and team performance. The results show that teamwork possesses a strong positive relationship with team members' success and a medium positive relationship with team performance. These findings confirm the vital role of teamwork in agile teams to achieve successful team performance and team members' success. This research contributes to the body of knowledge regarding the influence of teamwork in agile software methods in the higher education environment. Understanding such a relationship will help students recognize the importance of teamwork in delivering a good product that will benefit their grades. Moreover, it would contribute to a better design of curriculums for the Information Systems discipline.","PeriodicalId":430095,"journal":{"name":"Eighth International Conference on Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing Multiculturality","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125118560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
