Numerous studies examined the impact of lean healthcare practices on organisational performance. However, there is limited research examining the level of lean healthcare practices among private hospitals.Hence, this study attemptedto investigate the level of lean healthcare implementation that lead to enhanced operational performance.The sociotechnical and operational aspects are variables adopted to measure the level of implementation of lean healthcare practices on operational performance.The questionnaire was developed based on previous literature,comprisingthree aspects, namely operational (24 items), sociotechnical (8 items),and operational performance (10 items). Out of 184 private hospitals in Malaysia, 118 were randomly selected, and 54 questionnaires were returned and used for analysis. Rasch quality control was applied to ensure that the instrument was valid, reliable,and able to measure what it is supposed to measure.It was found that sociotechnical aspect is difficult to implement as compared to operational aspect. Motivationfactor dimensions contribute the highest mean value, which is indicativethat if an organisation is able to improve this dimension,itis then able to further improve the organisational performance.","PeriodicalId":429639,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technology and Operations Management","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132786232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The catastrophic effects of extreme rainfall on human, environment, and economy are enormous as most of the events are unpredictable. Modelling the extreme rainfall patterns is a challenge since the extreme rainfall patterns are infrequent.In this study, a model based on descriptive indices to forecast extreme rainfall is proposed. The indices that are calculated every monthare used to develop a Back Propagation Neural Network model in forecasting extreme rainfall. Experiments were conducted using different combinations of indices and results were compared with actual data based on mean absolute error. The results showed that the combination of six indices achieved the best performance,and this proved that indices couldbe used for forecasting extreme rainfall values.","PeriodicalId":429639,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technology and Operations Management","volume":"154 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134061266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To manufacture the product, the wafers need to go thru hundreds of steps according to the technologies required. The cycle time to complete a standard product ranges from few weeks to few months, depends on the complexity of the technologies. Due to the difficulty and the complexity of the product, Computer Integrated Manufacturing system (CIM), is widely used as a manufacturing platform. As such, all the processes, equipment and wafers are fully integrated. Nevertheless, not all processes could be processed automatically. In the situation of the halfway processes wafer due to equipment or facility interruption, the wafer, need to be processed manually. Engineers or technicians will manually process the affected wafer according to the specification. The problem arises when; there is a human involvement that ends up with wafers misprocess. The potential revenue lost due to wafer misprocess is vast. Hence, this paper aims to discuss issues related to human error in manufacturing, specifically in Wafer Fabrication Manufacturing Facility. The paper presents partial input for the Canonical Action Research (CAR) that presently being exercised in order to minimize human error by developing a Small Group Activities (SGA) in the manufacturing facility.","PeriodicalId":429639,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technology and Operations Management","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130497943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, the increasing population in Malaysia has led to the need to increase rice production with more quality. Therefore,the government established a scheme with national organic standards, MS 1259: 2015 which is myOrganic certification to recognize organic farms. Koperasi ABSB is the first rice farm that obtained this certification. Thus, the aims of this study are to explore the implementation of myOrganic in Koperasi ABSB and the barriers faced by this cooperative to implementing myOrganic certification. Qualitative method is used in this case study through interviews and observation. The finding showed that the implementation of myOrganic is as follows, by register myGAP, register myOrganic, Department of Agricultural Malaysia (DOA) will send a supervisor, prepare nine files or records, perform internal and external audit, and renew myOrganic. This study is expected to increase awareness of organic farming practices and promote the implementation of myOrganic in agriculture industry especially for the new farmer who wants to register and obtain myOrganic certification.","PeriodicalId":429639,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Technology and Operations Management","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126193715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
