In Russia, the explored resources of tantalum by many times exceed the plants’ demands. Zashikhinskoe and Vishnyakovskoe deposits in Irkutskregion, as well as Katuginskoe in Chitaregion are most promising. The State balance accounts the resources of rare earth metals (REM) oxides by 20 deposits. Russiatakes the second place in the world after Chinaby REM resources. The balance resources of beryllium are accounted in 35 deposits, exceeding the world proved resources in the summarized categories A + B + C1+ C2. Russia takes the third place in the world after China and Australia by zirconium resources. The state balance accounts 36 deposits of titanium and 21 deposit of zirconium. Rhenium is the least provided by deposits and most demanded metal. The state balance of RF accounts resources of rhenium in seven deposits: three of them being copper-molybdenum deposits, two – copperporphyritic deposits, one – tungsten-molybdenum deposit and one – purely rhenium deposit. Resources of scandium as an associated component are accounted in eight deposits of Russia, half of the being within the allocated fund of bowels. However, man-caused formations – red sludge – wastes of alumina production – are most real source of scandium. Big resources of scandium are associated with the wastes of iron ore production at Kachkanar mining and concentration plant, which ate not accounted by the State balance. Resources of three deposits of boron ores are accounted in Russia, two of the being within the allocated fund of bowels – the Dal’negorskoe (Primorsky region) which utilized, and Taezhnoe (Sakha Republic – Yakutiya), which is being prepared for utilization. A wide distribution of boron minerals ascertained in magnetite ores, developed in Korshunovskoe (Irkutsk region) and Kazskoe (Kemerovo region) deposits.","PeriodicalId":429631,"journal":{"name":"Ferrous Metallurgy. The processes of chemical elements segregation in steel macro- and micro volumes considerably influence its quality. Reasons of microphysical dendrite segregation originating in steels of welding purpose of Св-09Г2С and Св-08ГНМ type considered. Mechanism of dendrites formation studied as well as the segregation degree of chemical elements along the continuously casted billet cross section. To estimate the segregation degree a criteria was used – the segregation coefficient, determined as relation of chemical elements mass shares in different micro-areas (dendrites, inter-dendrite gaps) of continuously casted billet cross section to those elements content by a ladle analysis of a heat or one another in different micro-areas. A heredity of segregation transfer from CC billet to finished wire rod of Св-08Г2С and Св-08ГНМ steels studied. It was determined, that decrease of the number of bainite-martensite areas as a result of decrease of dendrite segregation of chemical elements takes place by minimization within grade chemical composition of both main alloying element and impurities ones. Besides an additional alloying of steel by boron takes place based on boron to nitrogen relation at the level of B/N = 0,8±0,15. It was shown that to decrease the inter-dendrite segregation it is necessary to elaborate and implement effective steel modifying by calcium and REMs regimes as well as electro-magnetic stirring during continuous casting.","PeriodicalId":429631,"journal":{"name":"Ferrous Metallurgy. Boron oxide ore borate ore can be used as such additives. Study of technology aspects of boron-containing pellets production and elaboration of technology of boron input into Kachkanar vanadiumcontaining raw materials was the purpose of the study, aimed at exclusion from BF burden of sinter, which does not contain vanadium. A possibility was justified to use borate ore at iron ore pellets production by a partial substitution of bentonite. Influence of borate ore additives on pellets metallurgical properties studied. As a result of laboratory studies it was determined, that the borate ore has not binding properties and its utilization is possible only in a mixture with bentonite. Optimal content of borate ore in pellets determined, exceeding of which a decrease of reducibility is observed, accompanied by a considerable swelling, which makes impossible the utilization of such pellets in blast furnaces. It was shown, that input of optimal volume of borate ore additives enables to keep the reducibility and swelling at the level of Kachkanar pellets being produced. The mechanism of borate ore content influence on strength characteristics of burnt pellets and their behavior during reducing studied. The regularity of borate ore additives influence on cold and hot pellets strength determined. It was determined, that at input of 0.5% of borate ore practically does not influence on the pellets reducibility while swelling will be constant. The input of borate ore up to 2% will result in a sharp increase of swelling. The decrease of reducibility with simultaneous increase of swelling of pellets having more than 0.5% of borate ore does not allow using such pellets in blast furnaces. Recommendations provided for slag regime optimizing, decreasing of metal losses with slag and test BF heats of pellets, having optimal additives of borate ore and bentonite carrying out.","PeriodicalId":429631,"journal":{"name":"Ferrous Metallurgy. An area of its utilization includes, in particular, production of automobile parts by cold stamping and blanking operations. Analysis of experience of mastering of hotrolled pickled strip technology instead of cold-rolled one as a marketable product revealed a series of problems related to provision of normalized level of surface roughness and obtained values of geometric parameters accuracy. Results of complex study represented, carried out by scientists of MGTU after G.I. Nosov together with PAO MMK within the period of mastering of new technology of hot-rolled pickled tempered strip production. Within the study a new technological flow-chart was elaborated for 3.1 mm thick steel hot-rolled pickled strip of steel 07ГБЮ production, excluding the stage of cold rolling. An operation of tempering was envisaged as a finished one, w enabled to increase resistance of hot-rolled pickled strip against cyclic loads. It was determined, that after tempering the coarseness uniformity increases along the whole surface and coil length of pickled strip. Following the stepby-step inclusion into metallurgical processing of titanium- magnetite raw materials, the matter of maximum extraction of iron, vanadium and titanium becomes more and more actual. Kachkanar group of deposits of titanium- magnetite ores consists of two deposits: Gusevgoskoe and Sobstvenno-Kachkanar. At present JSC EVRAZ NTMK uses titanium- magnetite sinter and pellets, produced of Gusevgorskoe deposit ores. To make up the dropped out capacities and to keep the volume of mined ore at the level of 55 m t/year, it is planned to put into operation the reserved Sobstvenno-Kachkanar deposit. To process the titanium- magnetite ores of this deposit, their specific peculiarities should be taken into consideration. In particular, the increased TiO2content in iron ore concentrate up to 3.4% might require corrections of the BF technology. In this connection a study of metallurgical properties of lump iron ore raw materials with different titanium dioxide content was carried out. To clarify the pellets phase components a method of X-ray-phase analysis was used. The studies were done at CKP “Ural-M” equipment in the Institute of Metallurgy, Ural branch of Russian academy of Sciences. It was determined that pellets chemistry was represented by hematite (from 77 up to 89%), magnetite (from 2.84 up to 10.44%), complicated diopside (from 2 up to 10%), as well as in a small amount by quartz, hedenbergite, corundum, rutile, ferro-periclase, ilmenite, wollastonite, α-Fe, wustite. Results of viscosity calculation of obtained slags showed that it is within a range, typical for real BF slags viscosity. The obtained values of slag viscosity do not offer problems with slag regime of BF heat. It was shown, that increase of titanium dioxide content in pellets does not give rise to quality deterioration of iron ore raw materials preparation to BF heat as volume of introduced concentrate with increase TiO2content into the materials is increasing. Increase of hot strength and pellets temperature of beginning of softening, the pellets having increased titanium dioxide content, will positively affect main technical and economic indices of BF heat – coke rate and productivity, that was confirmed by BF indices calculation by application of balance logical and statistical model of BF process. ","PeriodicalId":429631,"journal":{"name":"Ferrous Metallurgy. A review of industrial tests on coal burdens coking with different thinning additives, carried out at coking plants of Western Siberia and the Urals, presented. Coke dust of coke dry quenching facility was used as additives, as well as oil-coke and semi-coke fines, and rubber crumb. Under industrial conditions of JSC “Altaj-koks” and JSC “Koks” coke dust of coke dry quenching facility was tested as a thinning additive. After introduction into the burden of 1.6–3.0% of coke dry quenching facility dust, the coarseness and mechanical strength of foundry coke increased. The industrial burden coking with oil-coke fines was accomplished at JSC “Altajkoks” Nos 1 and 2 coke-oven batteries. Oil-coke fines in the amount of 5% was added to a burden (у = 15–16 mm) without change of coking regime (the period of coking is 15–16 h). Strength of foundry coke (М40) increased by average 0.5%, of BF coke – by 1.2%, ash content decreased by 0.3%, sulfur content increased by 0.03–0.06%, reaction ability decreased by 19% (rel.). At the OJSC “Gubakhinsky koks” it was determined by industrial tests, that it is possible to produce a metallurgical coke, meeting requirements of non-ferrous metallurgy, providing up to 5% of oil-coke fines are added instead of the same amount of low-sintering coals. VUKHIN’ studies showed, that still higher effect in improving foundry and BF coke quality can be reached by introducing into the coal burdens “modified” oil coke up to 50% as a coking additive. During industrial tests at JSC “Altaj-koks” semi-coke fines were introduced into production burden instead of KCH coal in the amount of 3–7%. At its utilization a burden crushing degree decreased down to 76.5%, dust content (class 0.5–0 mm) decreased down to 39.1%, its bulk density increased up to 780 kg/m3 . At that the coke mechanical strength corresponds to that for coke made of industrial burden, and its coarseness increased. Results of successful industrial tests of foundry coke made of burdens with coke dry quenching facility dust and oil coke fines at smelting in cupola gray cast iron and malleable cast iron. ","PeriodicalId":429631,"journal":{"name":"Ferrous Metallurgy. Heatexchanging tubes are the critical components, which influence on the safety and reliability of steam generators operation. Corrosion properties of non-stabilized nitrogen-containing corrosion resistant steels of austenite class after cold deformation, thermal treatment and long-term thermal aging studied. It was shown, that silicon introducing into chrome-nickel steel, alloyed by nitrogen and molybdenum, results in increasing of its resistance against local kinds of corrosion and equated it on resistance against intercrystallite and pitting corrosion with particularly low-carbon steels and alloys. But the experimental 03Х18Н13С2АМ2ВФБР-Ш low carbon micro-alloyed steel, proposed for operation at a heat-carrier temperature of 450–500 о С, in the first version had a tendency to a decrease of resistance against local corrosion and impact resistance after long-term thermal aging at temperatures of 360 о С and higher. At present specifying of technological parameters of production and balanced alloying element content takes place, which prevents heat exchanging tubes properties degradation. Steel 03Х17Н13С2АМ2 which has higher resistance against local corrosion and strength comparing with 316LN and 08Х18Н10Т grades, can be taken as a candidate material for production of heat-exchanging tubes of steam generators of nuclear power stations having power reactors of water-water type. A brief characteristic of main types of iron ores of Russia quoted. It was shown, that they require concentration for utilization them in metallurgical production. Concentration flow charts of main types of iron ores considered. Main ways of iron ore raw materials concentration flow charts perfection directed on concentrates quality increase, concentration specific costs decrease and increase of raw materials utilization complexity. At Lebedinsky mining and concentration complex (MCC) at the expense of additional milling and concentration of high quality concentrate, a super-concentrate is produced having the iron mass content no less than 69.5% and silica content no more than 3.5%. The increase of iron mass content is 1.5–2%. At Mikhajlovsky MCC additional concentration of regular concentrate with iron mass content 65.5–66% enables to produce a super-concentrate having the iron mass content no less than 69% and silica mass content no more than 3%. The increase of iron mass content is 3–3.5%. Fine hydraulic screening is used at Kostomuksha and Kovdor MCCs for adjusting of regular concentrates. The undersize of sizing screens is a high quality concentrate, and oversize fraction is an intermediate product subjected to additional milling and concentration. When using the fine hydraulic screening, the super-concentrates are not obtained. Indices of super-concentrates production with application of separation in an alternative magnetic field quoted. Low complexity of iron ore raw materials utilization is typical at concentration of hematitemagnetite quartzite ores. In Russia the hematite-magnetite quartzite ores are mined and concentrated at three MCCs as follows: Olenegorsky, Mikhajlovsky and Kimkano-Sutarsky. Flow-charts and indices of magneto-gravitation concentration quoted, applied for hematite concentrate production. Stage separation of not only tails but also of concentrates is one of methods of expenses decreasing. A diagram of concentrate stage separation with application of concentration method or fine screening considered. Results of industrial application of flow-charts with concentrate stage separation quoted, the application taken place at Kachkanar MCC with application of two methods – wet magnetic concentration and fine hydraulic screening.","PeriodicalId":429631,"journal":{"name":"Ferrous Metallurgy.
