Data for this study were collected from the 388 managers/owners of SMEs indulged in the manufacturing sector through well-established scales. The utilized scale’s reliability and validity were assessed through CFA, and various hypotheses related to the environmental moderators and innovation mediation was tested. This study is relevant for owners/managers and policymakers responsible for improving the performance of small and medium enterprises, working in the manufacturing sector. The study necessitates the significance of catering express needs of customers to boost up the effect of market orientation on performance. The study tested the relationship between the market orientation and performance relationship at the disaggregated level. But it affects the economy and social life of people living in Jammu and Kashmir. Shutdown of internet has become common in Jammu and Kashmir after the militants using social media as a tool for recruiting young generation. Government of Jammu and Kashmir snapped internet services whenever any anti military and anti government operation happened. Continues shutdown of internet in the region results the winding up small business unit which operates through internet. The skills development and entrepreneurship policy developed in 2015 tries to solve the challenges of skill development by inspiring early signs, development and variations. The present study is based on a primary survey conducted in four Districts of Sikkim involving 600 respondents from amongst the various stakeholders and examines whether there is any significant difference in the expressed belief held by stake-holders vis-à-vis the challenges identified in the skill eco space in Sikkim. These challenges are namely resistance to relocation by Sikkim’s youth for employment, stigma against labor oriented jobs, preference for Government jobs, belief that skilling is for low academic achievers and lack of industrial opportunities and development in the State of Sikkim.
